“Dontcha wish your girlfriend was hot as me…”
Oh, shit…didn’t know anyone was around.
No, no, keep going. I was enjoying myself.
sierrawut:
I did arts and crafts with the children after church today and now I’m covered in red and green glitter. At least now I feel extra festive.
Arts and crafts with children after church. You sound like you’d love my ex.

“Hush.” Maggie silences Jordan, holding up her hand. “I’m makin’ you somethin’ whether you like it or not. It’s up to you if you eat it.” She shrugs, quickly fixing him a sandwich, passing it over with a slice of leftover birthday cake and a glass of water. “Eat, don’t eat…I don’t care.” That was a lie, but she wasn’t going to shove food down his throat. “It’s just a sandwich, Jordan. I can afford to give you that.”
Jordan opened and closed his mouth several times to protest, but ultimately gave up. “Fine,” he said, biting down on the sandwich. He ate in silence for a few minutes, trying to figure out something to say. “So...Did she get a lot of cool stuff for her birthday?” He asked her lamely, wishing he’d just kept his mouth shut.

“But what? You know what…don’t even bother, I don’t want ta hear another one of your excuses.” Magnolia shakes her head, letting out a sigh. She knew she should kick him out now, make him wait until Clem was back to call him, but she didn’t have i in her. She wasn’t that type of person. “No, you’re already here. Sit, I’ll fix ya somethin’ to eat.” It was so easy to slip into old patterns with Jordan - him charming his way back into her life, her taking care of hm - and here she was doing it again, but she didn’t have the heart to make him go. At least she could keep an eye on him with him in her apartment.
“Don’t do that, you don’t have to do that,” Jordan protested, but sat down anyway. “Maggie, I’m fine. I can go if you need me to, I get it, it’s…” He looked around the room, sniffing habitually and he caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror. He was paler than normal from hardly ever being out in the daylight. He’d lost at least ten pounds, making his cheeks hollow in and his eyes had bags. Even he knew he didn’t look fine. “I don’t want to take any food from your table, we both know I’ve already taken too much.”

“Busy, sure. Right. You’re always busy, Jordan. I don’t know why I thought you could change.” Magnolia sighs heavily, running her fingers through her hair. “Don’t you go gettin’ all upset with me. God forbid I get angry at ya, right?”
“Well, no, that’s not what I’m sayin’ but --” He cut himself off. She did have a right to be angry. He knew that. She knew that. Anyone with eyes could know that. He sighed. “Look, do you want me to leave? I can leave and you can call me when she’s home. Or something.”

“My parents took her out. They came down with Declan to visit for her birthday.” Magnolia says slowly, watching Jordan’s every move. “You were too busy fr your daughter’s birthday party? Really? What was more important, Jordan? Enlighten me.” She snaps, crossing her arms over her chest. “Partyin’ elsewhere? You look like a mess.”
Jordan shook a little at her tone. She sounded so much like a mom sometimes, it freaked him out. He probably should have realized that he made her that way, but of course he couldn’t. “I was just busy Maggie, dang.”
“Mother...” The blond began but was cut off by the woman on the other side of the telephone call. “I have been up and down this damn street and there is nothing here that looks even close to the shop…You know what, I’ll just ask somebody ok?” She spoke into the phone before turning it off and stuffing it back into her pocket as she looked around. She had never been all that great with directions, and the fact that the internet on her phone wasn’t working, which meant that her Google Maps app wasn’t working either wasn’t helping. Spotting somebody heading in her direction she plastered a small but friendly smile to her face before speaking, “Excuse me.. do you think you could help me out?”
Jordan was stumbling out of a coffee shop, trying to get rid of the headache he had. A night and a half spent too broke to buy anything worth using had turned him into a withdrawing mess. He stopped when he saw the girl looking at him and he scanned her up and down. Trying his best to not seem like such a burnout, he pushed his hair out of his face and offered her a smile back. “I’m sure I can try. Is everything alright?”
smhmellie:
“You think this has been easy for me? That any of this has been easy for me?” Mellie yells back, her voice raising to meet his. “I can’t do this, Jordan. I can’t have your baby. If you want to hate me, then hate me. I already hate myself.” Shaking her head, Mellie swipes at her cheeks, hoping Jordan somehow wouldn’t notice the years that were falling. “I’ve already made up my mind. It’s my choice. I’m sorry you don’t see it that way. Goodbye, Jordan.”
“Oh, yeah, pull the ‘I hate myself’ bullshit to try to make me feel bad. Guess what? I don’t give a fuck how you feel right now,” Jordan told her, wasting no time being polite. When she said she made the choice and he had no opinion, he slammed his hand into the wall, immediately knowing he busted his knuckles. “The fuck you will kill my baby!” He hollered, voice booming through the room. “There’s no way in hell I’m going to let you do this!”

sweetxmagnolia:
Magnolia was glad that her parents and brother had come down to visit for Clementine’s birthday; having them around lessened the sting of Jordan being absent. She didn’t know what she was expecting though, he had hardly been around since they had broken up a little over a month ago. It hurt to see their daughter hurt by by his absence though, especially on her birthday. Her family had taken Clem out for the day so Magnolia could do some studying, promising to have her back by dinner since it was a school night. She had barely sat down with her textbooks when she heard the knock at her door though, sighing heavily after she sees who’s on the other side. “What do ya want? Clem’s not here.”
Jordan wiped his nose subconsciously, sniffing a little like he had a cold. “Oh, she’s not?” He was disappointed. Now what? He didn’t have a reason to stay now, didn’t have a reason to really leave either. What else was there to do? “Damn. Well, when is she gonna be back? I was, uh, busy yesterday and I couldn’t make it out, but I wanted to...You know.Make it up to her.”
“You don’t get to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body. I’ve already decided, Jordan. I just wanted you to hear it from me. Can we be mature adults about this, please? It’s not like either of us can support a kid. Or in your case, another kid.”
“If that’s my baby, I get a say! You can’t just -- You can’t --” He gestured wildly, getting angry. He was already too high for this emotion, and the coke was escalating everything. “If you do that, you’re killing a baby. You’re killing my daughter’s sibling. I’m never gonna forgive you for that, Mellie. You can’t do this without my say. You can’t!”

Jordan sniffed hard in the car and wiped his nose with the back of his hand. He looked at himself in the mirror, and brushed his fingers through his hair, thinking that was the only thing that needed to be fixed. If he wasn’t permanently messed up these days, he would have seen his sunken in eyes, heavy bags, red nose, greasy hair. He would know that trying to see Magnolia and Clementine today would be a terrible idea. One look at him and she’d send him away for sure. But all he could think of was how bad he felt that his daughter’s birthday was two days ago and he’d spent the entire time on someone’s floor, high on H. He got out of his car and pulled his leather jacket a little tighter, making his way to his ex’s front door. He knocked twice and waited for her to open the door.
