HOLY 🐄!...it’s the Great Cowspiracy! --- You may, or may not, have recently been made aware of the fact that American farmers have secretly been feeding their cows defective Skittles to avoid paying for corn. Unknown to many of us, the practice buying defective or unneeded food to feed animals has been going on for years (W.T.H?!). But, it is thought to have picked up around 2012, when corn prices rocketed up and farmers needed a cheaper way of feeding their animals. Skittles are cheaper than corn – especially when bought for a lower price because they are defective. LiveScience did a piece on this in 2012 and it really didn’t resonate until a truck load of defective skittles spilled on an icy Wisconsin road last week. --- When questioned on whether this is healthy for cows, or for the humans who consume beef, milk, and cheese a professor of animal nutrition stated, “a candy-based diet for cattle is fine, and it's a good way to get nutrients in these cattle,” and the owner of United Livestock Commodities stated, “a candy-based feed mixture has all the right nutrition for them.” Skittles = Nutritional…Really? Hmmm…since when does any type of processed carb, sugar and chemical loaded candy have ANY valuable nutrients in it? --- Let’s look at the “nutritional value” (👈🏻sarcastic quotes) in just 1 cup of skittles: 830 calories, Total Fat 8.96 g, Total Carbs 185.81g, Sugars 155.84g, Protein 0.39g --- When humans eat too much sugar in their diet, the effects are devastating—obesity, heart and kidney disease, diabetes, and cancer are only some of the consequences. Sugar is considered a toxin or poison by many scientists because of its ability to break down the body (Remember my post on Sugar being a Toxin? If you haven’t read it please do). Imagine a cow eating thirty to seventy pounds of sugar per day for extended periods of time. Surely this has a damaging impact on the health of the cows. Furthermore, no one is sure of what far-reaching effects eating candy-fed cattle could have on human health. As long as you fall within the Animal Kingdom, sugar and processed carbs will have the same effect on your body…inside and out. #wellness #nutrition #wholefoods
