Dad made me leave bc he and his gf are fighting (they were also fighting in the middle of the night so imma assume it's been going on since). I've been here for 3 days. If y'all can't hold it together for 3 days LEAVE EACH OTHER.

Tonight my dad made me watch 2 YouTube videos with him about 2 shipwrecks. The Medusa and the São João. They both essentially told the same story of a captain who, at every single turn made the wrong decision and doomed hundreds of people. And it made me so angry. Like SO angry. Perhaps too angry. Which is my favorite telltale sign that there's some sort of weird wound I have that's being triggered. Well it turns out I hate my mom and if she were my captain I would have beheaded her immediately.

Anyways, it's convoluted but sometimes I sit and think about how truly stupid my mom was and how much of my life it cost me. I look at the track that was laid out for me, the support I was about to have, the education I needed, the culture that I would have thrived in. But no. Apparently being homeless in FL was a better option for my mom and her 3 kids she had w/ a man she knew was cheating on her. (MULTIPLE friends didn't go to her wedding out of protest). If you look at her life, it's just a series of OBVIOUSLY wrong choices that everyone begged her not to make. Everything since the divorce has been a non-stop fight to get basic needs met. She found out I self-harmed and didn't do anything about it, when I tried to run away and kms she yelled at me and sent me to school the next day. At some point I just gave up on myself, on things getting better, on anything being worth it. I hate her so much. What am I supposed to do with this anger? I have to spend the rest of my life playing catch-up with what I SHOULD have been, trying to earn what was already in my grasp. I was a year away from private school. I was so excited... I almost failed high school instead, figuring it'd never mean anything anyways.

So I think I can tap into that feeling, being stuck on a boat with an idiot, unable to do a single thing cuz you're not the one in charge. Having to watch as any hope of survival fades.

Only I did survive. And now I have to relearn what it means to have genuine hope for your future and start to actually feel like you're the one at the steering wheel. I still feel like a prisoner.

The only thing I feel for her at this point is debt owed for not outright abusing us. Like she fed me, and loved me, but it's not enough. She doesn't even find me interesting, her eyes glaze over when I talk. I WISH she was my captain so I could just behead her and move on with it. Unfortunately she groomed me to be Mommy's Little Saviour and I still feel duty bound to spare her my pain.
