if i’m not artsy at all and can’t draw things well can i use printed pictures in my book of shadows or is that frowned upon? i want it to look nice but i’m just not good enough to draw things:/

I’m not sure on the general consensus on this, but I personally take no issue as long as you’re not claiming the art to be your own.

Though, a BoS is very personal so I believe it best to draw your own pictures for a physical one. I suggest you begin with print outs to get a feel for format and overall design, but over time try to learn to accept/improve on your own art so you can build a real bond with your BoS. Even if it takes a few (or a lot of) rounds of editing I feel you will come to appreciate how much work, time, and love you put into it much more if your finished result is your own creation.

As for improving on your art: using a reference is completely fine and a great way to know where to begin in terms of creating your own pictures, as long as you’re not straight-up copying a whole piece. I would also begin by tracing so you can learn and build muscle memory on how dimensions and structure work, then you can fill detail and start free handing as you progress. Artistic skill takes practice as does witch craft, you can totally use the creation of your BoS as the opportunity to hone both skills simultaneously!

So when you charge a Sigil, and let’s say you wrote it on a rock and charged it, since you charged the sigil on that rock, could you write the same sigil on like your door and it still be charged or would you have to charge the one on the door?

This depends on what you believe, if you’re just trying to extend the range of the sigil on the rock to the door you may feel that the charging done in the rock is all that was needed. Or you may feel by extending the range it needs more charge for the extra distance, but not as much as a completely new sigil.

Personally I would charge the door as it’s own sigil as I consider each sigil (even duplicates) to be their own entity. For instance I use my name sigil nearly everyday, but I charge it every time I write it down, even if the older versions still exist and are activated. This is to put fresh intent and power into the sigil, but could also be used to differentiate between two sigils with similar but ultimately different motives.

In this case it would be as if I had a “lucky” sigil and I had one in my car for luck with travel and one in my wallet to promote luck with wealth. These are similar sigils and could very well be the same in appearance, but they have different motivations and should (in my belief) be charged separately.

But whenever in doubt, my opinion and advise will always state that your personal beliefs and feelings rule all. Your perception on how the (magic) world works affects nearly everything in your witchcraft. If you deep down think you need that extra charge to make it work: do it!

Fabulous! I'm so glad I found your blog 😊 I haven't really used sigils before, tended to use protection runes. I am curious about combining sigils as a form of twin flames soul bonding. Looking specifically at sigils for the wolf and the raven. Is that something you'd be happy to do?

Hmm not sure exactly what you’re asking for here.. I’m always happy to if you’d like me to do sigils with the idea of a wolf and a raven in mind I can do that, or name sigils for the names “Wolf” and “Raven.” Otherwise I’m not sure I know enough about this specific method to do it with accuracy for what you’re desiring 😓

Can you draw a sigil on a picture of the person you want it to affect?

I think that could definitely work! Giving a visual representation of the person to focus on should help your intent be more accurate. It may also help if you gave them an item to use/have with the sigil attached, having the sigil close to the person will allow it to bind stronger and easier.

Hi I was wondering if I draw a sigil on myself with the sigil stop working once the ink fades? It’s a sigil I created and activated. Thanks!

It depends more on if you believe it will. Some sigils are charged and activated by destroying them and some are activated and become stronger the longer they exist.

Personally I’d say a sigil meant for the skin would last after the initial degradation, although it would still be temporary unless permanently placed. Though, it’s also important what the sigils intended purpose is. A sigil for luck may outlive it’s physical form whereas a sigil for banishment may need an attachment point to continuously absorb strength from.

But again this is all dependent on your beliefs. If you believe the sigil is still active then it is, but if you believe the effects are fading without that physical representation then they will.
