Asa dutifully keeps his expression passive. Shuffling papers on his desk, his dark gaze raises to meet the one seated across from him, his head tilting inquisitively to the side.

“What gives you that impression?”

She's trying not to smile, but it's hard trying not to tease him about it. "I'm not suggesting there's anything untoward going on," because there's no way she's going to outright say that the office thinks he's having an affair with that one intern, "it's just, you haven't turned in expense reports for a few of your trips out of the office. If you have anything you want to expense, miles, hotel stays, please do turn it in to us."

In the end she doesn't care if he is lying about those overnight trips; but she has to at least be able to say she checked in about any expense forms.

‘Untoward.’ Interesting choice of word. What did she mean by it?

Asa shuffles the papers into a pile and tap, taps them on the desk so they fall into order.

“I stayed with family. Nothing to report, hence the lack of paperwork.” His tone is bland, and perhaps a bit curt.

He stands and motions to the door, “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have specimens to see to in the lab.”
