Hey guys im back from my break!
I was nearly sacrificed to usher in a new eon of humanity by my worship group and was forced off screens for a while. But I'm better now.
Still a little rocky on my end, might go radio silent again, but I doubt they'll find me before the cat-and-mouse novelty of their hunt wears off.
I had a vision.
a funny thing about having a Problematic Blorbo is that you'll periodically come across a post along the lines of "um let's not forget that [Blorbo] is a bad person..." listing their various crimes, and if you have a modicum of intellectual honesty you find yourself nodding along and saying yeah it's true... but it's the greyness of their character that makes them so compelling... At the same time though you have a little Saul Goodman in your ear going "your honor in their defense: who cares like omfgggg who caresssssss like come onnnnnn"
last reblog reminds me of how—when my brother or i are annoyed by the other—we’ll communicate this by hitting the Doctor-Manhattan-blowing-up-Rorschach pose. 100/10 bit, definitely recommend adding it to ones arsenal
au where "bubastis reforms" but "reforms 'wrong'" and it's just Veidt lying through his teeth about where he got his new cat.
completely unrelated but i think there was an au floating around there on livejournal where Rorschach wasn't allowed to die and was instead turned into a cat. Wouldn't it be fun if Daniel found a severely traumatized cat on his doorstep and he has to pet-proof his house. It was named Beans, of course.
Funny how Rorschach's hair color would be not too far off from Bubastis's fur color. Funny how rorschach inkblots, when centered on the spine of a quadruped, could closely resemble tiger stripes. Funny how Veidt's infamous for genetically engineering pets. Whose to say the lynx-tiger hybrid wasn't also freakishly intelligent? Whose to say Bubastis's mind didn't expand in an indeterminable amount of dimensions while de-atomized? why would anyone doubt Veidt's claim that his cat was just a bit weirder, now? Not like it can talk.

If their circumstances were flipped, Ozy would absolutely have the same mad doomsday prophet civilian persona Rorschach does except he'd be even more unhinged about it. He'd be out there on the streetcorner babbling about how he's divined the precise date and time of nuclear armageddon from a combination of analyzing the migrations of birds, tracking the movements of the planets, and loitering in front of TV shop windows (only the third thing actually affected his calculations at all, but he's doing a bit, so who cares), and how any ancient empire would have taken the current state of things as a sign to cease all military campaigns and make offerings of atonement to the gods, and the crazy thing is that in a setting as chaotic as Watchmen people might actually listen if someone did that

Becaue genuinely you CANNOT do anything with Doctor Manhattan anymore. He's done, he genuinely doesn't give a fuck about what happens on earth.
My guy basically becomes god and decides to make another earth far off into the universe. Hell INTO ANOTHER GALAXY he genuinely doesn't give a damn about Earth anymore.
Any one of those writers could've continued the story WITHOUT Jon present. Hell in BOTH sequels there were OCs added unto the roster but NOOO Doctor Manhattan just HAD to be there. And they already made Adrian OOC why not do the same with Jon?
I think the BEST example of a Watchmen Sequel that could genuinely benefit from Jon not being present was HBO Watchmen.
It was already doing a good job with its narrative. Granted I would prefer if it WASN'T a Watchmen Sequel, the show's first half could literally be a story about original superhero characters. (Hell this could've been an Incredibles sequel for all I care) but THEN THEY HAD TO ADD THE DOCTOR MANHATTAN STORYLINE AND IT ALL CAME CRASHING DOWN.
That's not even MENTIONING how weirdly sexualized Jon was throughout most of the story.
It's also clear they didn't have the fucking budget for Jon so what the fuck was even the point of adding him???
They could've genuinely made Dan or Adrian be the villain in this story (Since they already character assassinated Dan and Adrian atp) but they just HAD to add a Jon plotline.
