Laurie saying she doesn’t like relationships with “strong, forceful guys” bc of her abusive stepfather is also interesting given her relationships.. maybe I’m overly reading into things but maybe dr manhattan was appealing to her when she was young bc he was strong but calm and detached and not very threatening. like yeah he was inconsiderate (maybe you should ask her before bringing clones into sex man idk. also randomly ditching her was not cool) but not aggressive, so that made her feel more at home and her standards were a bit low.. (Also this is not even getting into the crazy power imbalance of the US Government paying her to date him so he has a connection to Earth and is therefore controllable and useful as a weapon like Jesus Christ man that was fucked up. Dating a nuclear bomb, and also your financial stability + your value to society comes from your ability to successfully persuade this nuclear bomb not to destroy humanity at the expense of your personal autonomy.. ok)

and then as soon as he leaves she starts getting closer with Dan who is actually nice and she initiates them kissing and having sex and such. it seems she feels more at home around him. idk it’s nice to see her being more forward and dating a guy who is not controlling and has less of an insane power imbalance. he says he wants kids at the end and she’s like lmao, no + it’s kind of cute to see :) dgmw Dan is also kinda fucking stupid and gets pulled into the whole vigilante thing faster than her (but I think feeling a conflicted nostalgia for those days is something shared by all of these freaks and wasn’t just him pushing her into it.)
