Hey Doctor Tennaville! What's today's prescription?

* This is my pinned post! This will basically be a summary of my about me page :)
About Me:
I'm Dr. TennaVille, a fanfiction writer who loves Deltarune content. I post stories, character analysis, memes, and anything relating to my fanfiction while celebrating the incredible creators who make this community amazing!
Fandom & Writing:
My favourite character is Mr (Ant) Tenna, and I’ve studied him inside and out.
I’ve been part of fandom culture for years, writing constantly and trying to balance quality + consistency in my chapters.
All my writing is a little self-indulgent haha, but if someone enjoys it as much as I do, that’s what makes it worth it!
Art & Credit
My profile picture and all art commissioned for my fanfiction were created by my favourite artist - cushika._

while i try to write part 2 i offer another idea: spamton flirting with the lightner reader and tenna getting real jealous. i really like jealous/protective tenna
THE IMAGE IS FRYING ME HAHAHAHJS 💀💀
It's not quite the same, but it's... I guess similar in idea huhu- I ended up expanding this concept into a longer comic but for now I'll split it in half
I truly truly believe that the most important thing you can do in fandom is be a cheerleader. comment on fics. reblog art and rave in the tags. support the people making the things you want to see. this is how you keep a fandom alive. this is how you get more of what you want. you never know: that person could have decided to make more just because you liked it.
I wish to have a way with words like have y'all ever read a fan fic so easy to imagine that the words build the vision for you as you go, each sentence is written perfectly like poetry?
Idk how to describe it. I love the way writers can tickle my heart strings at times when I'm reading.
Never occurred to me until recently that all my random life experiences actually is so handy for writing fanfiction
Like I have a first aid certificate, a cpr certificate, a liquor license, barista certification, studying all of these random ass fields, so I can skip like a layer of research when writing because I have all of this LOL
only downside is I immediately notice if something is off when I'm reading it in fanfiction
Did my CPR unit for my first aid course, and in my head, you know how most people have those songs they like doing CPR too, I thought one that I could use was TV time. (i ended up going wayyy too fast against that poor dummy LOL)
Listening back, I don't understand how I thought that the song was slow enough to do chest compressions
Fun fact! There's like, over 40 sprites for Tenna… the video doesn't include the process for ALL of them because I drew some after recording it in early July. I also drew other character sprites but forgot to record half the process for those… oops… oh well. I'll try and remember to record some CG's process so I have more speedpaints to post!
Rest of the devlog update is below the cut! 📺💗
I've never actually written a devlog before so bear with me, I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants. But I wanted to give an update on what I've been working on at least a little bit!
I came up with ILTV in early July, and kind of pushed myself away from the idea at first since I already had so much on my plate and the plot idea was kind of loose to start off. But it would not leave my brain, so here I am.
I didn't want to make a trailer or announce the project until I was comfortably a decent way into making it a reality. So, here's basically everything I did before releasing the trailer:
Created the intro sequence that is featured in the trailer (but there's more to it in-game)
Implemented a way for the player to input a name they want to use, which has 15 unique reactions to... [a number more than that] easter egg inputs (It's a lot)
Implemented and fully testplayed the first date sequence with Tenna (akin in gameplay to Act to Flirt's dates)
Implemented the introductory point-n-click explore section (again, akin to those in Act to Flirt, though I made it a little more obvious where is clickable just due to the darkness of the environment...)
Included a "shop intermission"
Wrote and implemented the "ending" to Tenna's route
Implemented the introduction into the secondary route
Created and implemented a handful of items to be used during gameplay
Finished (probably) all of Tenna's dialogue sprites
Made 4 "CG" cut-in sprites for Tenna's route
Painted 1 BG and drafted 3 others
Drafted out a couple more "CG" cut-in sprites
Made ~20 some sprites for a second character
Drew out 3 cutscenes. They're sketchy, since they both have a lot of frames for a VN and it's also just thematically fitting for what they are... but I like how they came out!
Plotted and wrote out the other remaining 3-5 cutscenes (still debating if I want to include 2 of them or not...)
And, since releasing the trailer, I've:
Drafted and started implementing Tenna's second date, although it's in a rough state at the moment
Adjusted the game's save file functionality to work for this game specifically, since Ren'Py's default wasn't gonna cut it for how the routes play
Made 2 different main menus, displayed game titles, and displayed window icons based, which change depending on what route the player is on
Made a functional inventory screen! This took a ridiculous amount of time and like 4 attempts!
Created a second proper shop
Started creating a larger, more proper point-n-click section
Implemented a Legend of Tenna-style minigame, inspired by Tomodachi Quest from Tomodachi Life
Wrote out and implemented the text for Tenna's proper endings, though they are subject to revision
Drafted the CG's for Tenna's proper endings
Painted 3 more BG's and drafted another 1
Made 2 music pieces! One is a cover of "Quiz" from Chapter 3, and the other is a cover of "Faint Courage," the Game Over OST from Chapter 2. I'll upload them at a later date ^)
You may have noticed I used "route" a few times... There'll be two routes! I've been dubbing the second one the [Weird] Route. (Don't worry, it's not as intense as Deltarune's weird route, I promise.)
I don't wanna go into too much detail about it to avoid spoiling too much, but do know that both routes are required to fully beat the game, although you don't have to win both (or either!) to see the actual endings. Think how in Act to Flirt you have to go through every boss and then can choose whose ending you want to see!
Like I've said before-- everything is Definitely and Totally Normal and Nothing Is Wrong! ^D
I may have missed a few things on the list here that I did, but it's not a big deal. Here's a screncap of the (first) title screen! It moves, actually, but you can't tell that in the picture.
Also, I had placeholder images for the sad Tenna in the intro sequence for the longest time and made the scene very hard to take seriously because of how silly they were:
I've found drafting my ideas in a shittier art program with settings that make it so I can't be perfect with my work makes it a lot easier to just get ideas down... maybe Toby's got the right idea doing his work in MS Paint.
Well, that's all I've got for now, I think. I wanted to do one of these every two weeks, but maybe that's a bit much? I'll try once a month instead and we'll see how it goes, unless I just really have something I need to or want to update with.
recently i learnt about how ao3 is considered to have the best database organisation systems out of most websites today, and the absolute whiplash I had when it was brought up was insane
makes me think about the amount of work they'd have to do to normalise to third normal form.
