Look I do. Genuinely. tend to keep most of my hater opinions pretty close to the vest. Because like okay, you liked the thing I think kinda sucked, I don't need to go ringing your doorbell about it. We can agree on that.
But I feel the sleeper-phrase activation in myself whenever I see a take like "um if you didn't like it it's actually because you didn't understand it!!!!" and i have to like. Take a walk around the block before I morph into Ron Swanson.

"Commander…" he said, his voice trailing off, parched. He cleared his throat. "Pardon me, I was just…" This time, his voice trailed for a very different reason. She looked as though she barely heard him. He stepped to the side, giving her room back into the storehouse, hoping the shame that festered in his belly couldn't be felt like heat on her face.
Suddenly, she realized exactly where she was. She looked up at Garrus, the light from the fire behind him catching in her one eye that hadn't been slashed with silver. Except it was lit by something other than a fire, something that came from within. "Actually, Vakarian, do you have a second to talk?"
It took him a second to register that she was talking to him, and another five on top of that for what she said. She was patient with him at the very least. "With… me?" he finally managed, which was about as eloquent as he could get away with.
"No, actually, I was thinking that I could talk to that pile of bricks outside, and you could stand guard." Far too late, he realized she was joking. His blank expression drew something out in hers, a crinkled expression that could have been a smile or a grimace. "Okay, not in a joking mood, got it." Except he didn't think she was really in a joking mood, either. It was too forced. He had heard Commander Shepard attempt three jokes since their mission started, and all of them were so unfunny that he thought she surely had to threaten the people around her to laugh.
"I can talk," he said, his voice still even and still, like wading out into unfamiliar waters. "If you still want to." Just in case you changed your mind while I babble, he wanted to say.

ANYWAYS where do you come up with your chapter and fic titles? do they come naturally to you or does that take as much time as writing the fic? what's your favorite title you've made before? what's one you want to use but just havent written the fic yet?

HMM. great question. lots of different places I guess! sometimes I misremember reorder some song lyrics (“Until I’m Dead And Buried,” “Get A Little Lonely,” “Digging Up Stones” — all my frankenstein creations), sometimes I one-sentence summarize it (“waiting room,” “When You’re Home,” “you tell her you love her”). sometimes I make things up on the spot when I get to the ao3 box. sometimes I think of a title too early and then my greatest driving force for finishing the fic is to use it. there is no way of knowing. I ask the universe and hope it delivers. I don’t always name chapter titles but if I start to, I usually try to keep a pattern going. with waiting room it was the visitors; By Rote, well I only have one chapter posted, so stay tuned.
favorite titles have to be “JAAWWWHN!! and the Marathon” because well. come on. of course that’s awesome. it rhymes. it’s to the point. I also liked “Gone to Ground” because that felt like a fun play on words. and if I can pick a third one for the heck of it, I love the rhythm of “Hoping, Praying, Promising.”
LET MEEEE SEE. I do definitely have a few I can’t wait to use (see first paragraph, re:how I name fics)… the one that’s coming to mind right now is “The Rest Of Your Life” which actually sounds kinda boring writing that out with no context but believe me… I’ll be buzzing when I use that one

here's a personalised shepard question for you!
in the digging up stones timeline, do you see shepard and garrus getting married? it's clear their relationship is strained due to shepard's nature and how she deals with the post-war, but they're clearly in it for the long haul anyway: it would be Strategically Sound to have paperwork officially tying them together. Do you think they'll get those papers signed sometime down the line, or maybe did they already do it in ME3 or right after? Or maybe just a next of kin form instead?
this is such a good question and one that I hadn’t really consciously approached before so I really wanted to noggin on it.
the distance between them in digging up stones—that’s completely of shepard’s own creation. they are committed; they’ve never stopped being committed. but now it’s a matter of shepard recognizing whether or not she deserves to be comfortable. being with garrus is easy, it’s comfortable, but shepard’s never had an easy nor comfortable life. she’s always had something to fight for, so once you remove every obstacle…? might inadvertently create a new one.
I think it’s really important to note that my personal interpretation of shepard and garrus in ME3 is that that is IT. the presidium date is in everything but name a proposal. their goodbye on earth tells me all I need to know. they are truly and completely committed to each other, in sickness and in health and all that, no matter if there’s a piece of paper between them that says just as much. if there’s a future, the one certain is that they’ll be together for it—however long that lasts. I know that’s not an unpopular assessment in any way, but just stating so I can put it on the record!!
so do I think they would get legally married? I’m not sure. they don’t necessarily need to, if it’s about commitment—this is a moment of unease and unknown for shepard, and garrus clearly isn’t going anywhere. if they were going to be for legal reasons, I do think it makes the most sense to do that before the last stand on earth, knowing these two and their propensity to plan. I’m not sure if they could actually be married, but I think both their respective people would be agreeable to drawing up some sort of kinship document. commander shepard and garrus vakarian? yeah we’ll do anything for those guys.

Summary:
On multiple occasions in the years they've known each other, Shepard and Garrus have been kept apart by space, time, commitments, and on one memorable occasion, death. That has never stopped them from keeping in touch, however. Be Between Me and Thee records the messages sent between Shepard and Garrus (or from Garrus to Shepard) on four occasions in their lives: after Garrus leaves the SR-1, while Garrus is alone on Omega, during Shepard's house arrest after the destruction of the Alpha Relay, and after the Battle for London. It explores their evolving relationship and what they mean to one another through these significant milestones.
