I was thinking about Zhongli in his archon outfit and his dragon form 😅
If his archon outfit is ever released as a skin 😭😭😭😭😭😭
a friendly reminder that microaggressions against asians can also look like this:
pretending to gag at asian food
pretending to be weirded out by asian customs and cultures
excusing cultural appropriation (often through ignoring the stories of asians who have been mocked for wearing their ethnic dress while praising a white person for doing so)
not trying to learn how to pronounce an asian person's ethnic name correctly, or asking, "can i call you by something else?"
adopting an asian name for the ~aesthetic~
using the words "oriental" and "exotic" to describe asian people, particular asian women
ignoring the experiences and stories of south, southeast, and central asians
making sweeping assumptions about asian countries (including their political, historical and cultural landscape)
treating the entire asian community as a monolith and ignoring the fact that the experiences of asian nationals are remarkably different from the asian diaspora/migrant community
co-opting asian aesthetics into creative media without acknowledging their history
if your asian activism doesnt include ALL asians then it is useless. if your asian activism thinks asia is japan, korea, and china and MAYBE a few s/se asian countries, it is not asian activism. asia is a massive continent that includes north asia and the middle east (surprise, the middle east is w asia).
yes weeaboos and koreaboos are asian issues and so is anti chinese racism and general anti e asian racism spiking bc of covid, but those are not the ONLY asian issues.
what’s happening to palestine is an asian issue. what’s happening in armenia is an asian issue. what’s happening in india is an asian issue. there are asian issues i am nowhere near informed enough about to bring up on this post. include these communities and countries in your asian activism. they are a part of the larger asian community. do not forget them.
Posting things at midnight might become a regular thing now lol
I drew this awhile ago for art therapy, and I decided to render it. Going through grad school and being in the home stretch of my dissertation, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my experiences. Grad school definitely hasn’t been easy - especially with the different barriers that exists that no one wants to discuss or acknowledge.
Looking back on the trauma I’ve experienced in my lifetime, the memories are still painful. I remember when the concept of kintsugi was introduced to me; I’ve held on to that philosophy so tightly. It’s kept me grounded every time I curse how broken I feel on my bad days.
Many people have told me things like what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger,” “you’re incredibly brave,” or “you’re powerful.” The thing is, I never wanted to be any of those; I just want to live my days feeling safe - to not feel pain.
These are not experiences I can erase from my life. They will always be painful. But each day, it becomes a little easier to run through those memories
Screencap redraw of Rin from yesterday’s episode
I was prepared to watch the pain yesterday, and it still hurt. I remember I cried a lot when I read this volume when I was younger. Rin’s background hits really close to home for me, especially that scene where Rin watches her parents close the door on her. The animation was really well done with those flashback scenes
For too long, academia has remained silent and uncaring about Black Lives Matter.
Academia needs to step up and address the deep roots of white supremacy and systemic racism in their institutions. Universities exclaim in their mission statements that they are committed to diversity, inclusion , and equity; however they do not practice this commitment. Only 2% of undergraduates are Black in my university; they are deeply underrepresented. No area of study is exempt from addressing issues of systemic racism. Psychology was built by white men and studies where only white males participated. Medical textbooks still primarily show symptoms such as rashes on white skin tones. When our education refuses to address white supremacy and systemic racism, it will continue to bleed into our future generations.
Academics can #strike4blacklives and take time to reflect, evaluate, and re-educate ourselves
