overheard three burly guys at least in their 40s talking at hotel breakfast today. heard the word gender, one talking about his body count, etc.

then I heard one, the oldest looking one say "if everyone could choose their gender there would be no men because they would all be women" as the other two nodded and agreed solemnly.

I then heard the word revolution and I gotta say... guys.. it's not too late... you can just be women.

it baffles me when I see an indie ttrpg like vagabond, that quite frankly made the right call by not having a monk class because of all the racist stereotypes baked into the entire idea of it; then decide one of the first classes they're going to add in their first expansion is the monk class.

I don't understand why the D&D scene is so obsessed with the idea of this class that is literally just a mishmash of asian cultures.

you have the fighter, the idea of being a valorous knight

you have the wizard, the idea of being a scholarous spellcaster

and then you have the monk introduced in the oriental adventures to be the racist fantasy of the Asian Kung Fu master appropriating several different Asian cultures in one pot.

Hey, maybe Vagabond will SOMEHOW make a monk class that isn't racist unlike their D&D and Pathfinder counterparts. But I really think that's a hornets nest best not to hug instead of trying to be the one person to do it 'right'.
