sometimes i think "wow i feel like ive really found my people on tumblr. everyone is so nice!" and other times people call the show runners fascists and islamophobic bc they didn't like a finale and i think "i need to get off this fucking website"
A second thought save them all from my provoked rage...Where is Louis?
The Vampire Lestat (2026)
I fucking love that Claudia literally made up the train story. There wasnât any part of truth in it. I didnât think theyâd go there because of how much theyâve softened all of these characters, but they really committed.
And guess what? It didnât change a thing about how Louis and Lestat treated her. Sheâs still a victim. Still a bandaid for a shitty marriage. Still a roof shingle that flew off of their house. They still doomed her to an eternity of misery.
I do think Lestat saw her the most clearly though. He saw how monstrous she could be and loved her all the more for it, not in spite of it. Stained Glass Eyes, while self-indulgent, is more about how he thinks she might react to him rather than purely his own grief. He was complicit in killing her, after all. It doesnât mean he canât love her. Love between vampires can be countless things.
I know people post this quote a lot, but itâs a really good one.
âAnd I cannot say even now that I regret Claudia... Claudia was my dark child, my love, evil of my evil. Claudia broke my heart."
that poll going around of the guy who thought "people only eat tofu as a bit because they're deranged vegans" or whatever really crystalizes something that i have never been able to precisely say - which is "a nonzero fraction of people who start picky-eater discourse just happen to precisely hate those foods which are not from north america and refuse to introspect on this whatsoever"
shoutout to the words "overmorrow" and "ereyesterday". english losing these words was stupid. "the day after tomorrow" "the day before yesterday" clunky-ass constructions. revolting. i'm bringing overmorrow and ereyesterday back in my idiolect and there is nothing you can do about it
This video from Bill Nye showed up on my Facebook feed and I thought it was good to share here too. Using critical thinking skills to see red flags is vital to preventing the retention and spread of misinformation. Here are the red flags he mentions:
Advertising - Companies have a financial incentive to say what makes them money. Even if what they're saying is true, it's better to check the info yourself.
Hearsay - No direct source or proof for a claim, just something you've heard. If it can't be verified, it's hearsay.
Personal Benefit - Does the person spreading the information benefit from it being true? As with advertising, it's vital to look into the sources of their claims.
Contradiction - Does this information contradict facts you already know for sure? Pause and ask questions before accepting it as fact.
Reader Bias - Do you really want this information to be true? Does it conform to what you already think and believe? Watch out for information that seems to be catered to your belief system.
an interaction im very tired of in online autism spaces. aka when you donât have a special interest / when your special interest isnât [character] or [fandom]
some of you did not understand this post. Hope this helps
and remember
very important for elf characters to freak the fuck out about the aging difference thing and pre-grieve like crazy and scream themself hoarse with denial when they canât stop death itself and they still look the same as when they met the frail aged body thatâs going cold beneath their touch and eventually settle into a numbness that theyâll call acceptance but they never really let anyone get as close as they did in the first century of their life unless they know theyâre going to stick around as long as they will
âwhy are elves so snobby and exclusive and cut-off from everyone elseâ befriending you means theyâll end up burying you and your children and your grandchildren and theyâll still be young. exactly how many times do you think you could choose to do that. if you live through enough centuries, eventually you run out of days in the year to visit each grave.
Getting dumped really puts children's cartoon villains into perspective. Like dude you're SO right, love and caring ARE disgusting and we SHOULD cast a spell to drain all human emotion into your amulet.
Friend breakups are how you get lines like "Your friends? You think your friends are coming to save you? Don't make me laugh."
the writers did so fucking well at portraying and deconstructing the over abundant amount that lestat in the text romanticizes his abusers. he calls it the "seduction of magnus" multiple times throughout the vampire chronicles instead of admitting he was preyed upon. when you read the books you have to look between the lines of his flowery prose and avoidance but the show took a corny over the top music video style approach and then slammed it next to a full blown ptsd flashback to make sure the audience did not have a chance to misinterpret or mock anything and i respect them for that
These reviews are COOOOOKIN'
