I was showing my friend my Fitbit cos I really like it and he was like “does it track ur heartbeat too?” And I was like omg yeah it does but I never really look at it so I showed him on my phone and it showed like a sudden spike in my heart rate at like 11pm last night and I was like that’s weird, I don’t think it’s really accurate cos I was asleep then and he was like yeah i guess so.

Then fast forward to later that night, I was masturbating and I look at my hand and I see my Fitbit. Then I realized, it was fucking tracking my heart rate while I was masturbating and that’s why it spiked

I read The Black Phone by Joe Hill cos I just watched The Black Phone 2 and it’s like very different I would say. Finney’s first name is John and his mom is alive and his sister whose name is Gwen in the movie is Susannah and is 3 years older than him. Also in the short story, you only meet Bruce and another boy named Loren who were kidnapped. Also in the movie, Bruce says Finney’s arm is mint, but in the story he says it’s dirty which I think fits the vibe of the story more considering it’s supposed to be horror. Also Albert is described as fat and bald which, if you’ve seen the movie, is not what he looks like. He also doesn’t have a mask in the story which definitely added some horror to the movie. The black balloons are still there, though I think it’s kinda implied that each balloon is a person he killed, maybe? Overall, a very different experience than what I was expecting. I think Joe Hill could’ve definitely made it longer because I thought it was kinda rushed. Though obviously it’s a very different experience to watch the movie first, rather than read it first, which def influenced my thoughts. It feels unfair to compare, but I liked the movies more, but the short story is still worth a read! Also, if my rant didn’t imply it, black phone 2 is not a thing in the story.
