Heracles was only 8 when he was rescued from the Zariman, and I like to think Ballas manipulated that to his advantage to look like a kind father-figure of sorts as far as the public was concerned ( ironically, he’d tormeted Heracles real father for years before he died ). He took Heracles under his wing and generally tolerated his existence to make himself look good but it still ended as terribly as you’d imagine.
