Can we normalize asking people to reword things we don't understand?
tumblr removed my header which was literally just this image
okay I know we’re only 4,000 notes in but look at the likes-reblogs ratio… it’s almost the same. Staff you done fucked up
12k now, there's a difference in the ratio now but still a close one. Wowsers Staff.
Good lord, staff
Mother of pearl you guys
bam
Oh my god tumblr staff what have you done
Doesn't seem to be slowing down either.
There is a MASSIVE uptick of posts being flagged as mature recently. It seems to be semi-random, but 100% with a bias towards picture posts made by transfems.
I'm guessing that accounts that have accumulated a certain amount of reports over time are under some kind of increased algorithmic scrutiny.
I was going through some old posts adding them to my selfie tag last night and that was enough to get them flagged, perfectly fine for three years but literally as soon as I give them the tag known to feature a visible transfem they're Potentially Mature Content
at this point i'm 90% sure they have some fucking half-arsed bot doing the "moderation" based on tags and number of reports and such
wow. we live in a world where trans people exist. i think thats pretty cool
with the context of these being my tags:
“do you mean terfs or actual radfems” no no i very much do mean actual radfems and i’m not sure why the queer community of late is so desperately trying to salvage “the patriarchy is based on your genitals” “feminism” if i’m being honest
I'm fairly sure we're on the same side here but I'm fascinated to know where you got the idea that radical feminism equates to "the patriarchy is based on your genitals", because as far as I'm aware that's not what radical feminism actually means. This is a genuine question, who are you talking to that's saying this?
As far as I can find, all radical feminism means is that you believe that patriarchal structures needs to be dismantled, as opposed to trying to advance peoples rights within them (liberal feminism). It has absolutely nothing to do with hating trans people, or bioessentialism, or any of that other yucky crap.
The only people I can find who are claiming that it IS about any of that stuff are either transphobes trying to use "feminism" as a shield to deflect criticism against their bigotry (ie. terfs, who again are NOT feminists at all), or people who believe them when they say that feminism is about hating trans people and reducing them to what's in their pants, or their genes, or whatever. That's not feminism at all, it's just transphobia.
You can be a radfem without being a reactionary bioessentialist transphobe!
That may be the case, but personally I don't remember the last time I met a radfem who wasn't also feverously transphobic and pushing masculinity as something inherently, biologically abhorrent. Even when they say they're trans friendly, having an ideology based around judging people's genitals seems kind of incompatible.
Well, there was one radfem who vehemently rejected being a terf and had a trans girlfriends and I believed her until they broke up and the radfem started calling her a man, saying she knows better and that she's only trans to abuse women. Which, yeah, I wasn't surprised.
That's what I'm confused about. How is radfem "an ideology based around judging people's genitals"? That's what terfism is. They aren't radical, they're reactionary, but reactionary never sounds good in a title. So they opt for the misnomer instead.
Usually when I meet another self-proclaimed radfem, I'm asking them if they're also intersectional, and I'm asking what their thoughts on trans people are, because of how often terfs and other transphobes love to hide behind the "radfem" label.
So I'm back to my original point about 'phobes stealing feminist language

do you mean actual radfems or do you mean terfs? I hate how the latter have co-opted and ruined the meaning of the former and now everyone assumes I must hate trans people (I don't, we're fucking awesome) when all I want is to tear down patriarchy
to all “radfems” out there who hate trans people: stop. You are not a feminist at all and you’re giving the rest of us a bad reputation.
fucking love when I'm on a call with someone and they start to do a little errand or go somewhere else and they say "and you're coming with me" like. absolutely I am let's go on an adventure I've been spirited away
ooh ooh or when they accidentally drop the phone or something and go “i dropped you! :(“ like. that little glowing box you’re waving around does indeed house my soul!! it’s me!! you’re holding me!!!! and we’re going on a little trip together!!! delightful!!!!!!!!
i love the suggestion that the device they are holding is my corporeal form. very silly and whimsical
you’re in line at the restaurant and there’s a dragon three tables over. that’s not really weird. you’re in the city, there’s all kinds of species all mixed together here. the weird part is she won’t stop staring at you
you feel your wings twitch. no one else can see them, of course. no one except her, because her eyes widen very slightly. how the fuck can she see them? you know they’re not actually there, even if you can feel them flexing and shifting as you move, but she definitely sees them because when you open them her jaw parts with an absolutely inscrutable expression
she watches you the whole meal and pretends she isn’t - watches your wings flex and your tail weave as you eat with hands that don’t bend right or have the right number of digits. her beautiful amber eyes stare into your own, somehow peeling away your skin to see what’s under it
when you go to bus your tray, you have to walk past her. she leans over and hisses “kin…” in your ear so quietly that even you can barely hear it. she knows.
“human” “cis guy” who joins the dragon rider corps and learns that:
- she’s a woman
- she’s a lesbian
- she’s a dragon
in that order
lesbian dragons
tired of seeing people say draconian (meaning “excessively harsh”) when they mean draconic (meaning “dragon-like”)
dergs aren’t all like that! this is a harmful stereotype!
Distinct from fine art, it’s also about avoiding developing the skill of written composition (forget vocab, spelling, grammar, appropriate word choice, proof-reading), it’s about avoiding developing any ability to express yourself, and failing to develop reading comprehension (if you plug something into it, asking for a summary). It’s just about being lazy and incompetent, and insisting that laziness and incompetence is fine, actually.
I hadn’t connected AI use with the recent surge in anti-intellectualism, but this makes me think it pretty neatly links that with the capitalist disrespect for art and writing as meaningful pursuits.
do you feel overworked and stressed and burned out? try this new trend Dragon Sleeping to heal
“how do i Dragon Sleep?” its actually really easy
1) become a dragon
2) build yourself a nest
3) sleep in it
i'm seeing some confusion about how you go about the first step and i would gently suggest that if you're contemplating ways to become a dragon it's likely that you already are one
I see people trying to defend "I wouldn't date a trans person" as simply a matter of preference and not transphobia. Obviously that's a load of shit, but it got me thinking: saying "I wouldn't date a trans person because I want biological children in the future" like it's some kind of valid preference to have completely ignores the part where they're essentially reducing another person to a means to produce a child... it's just kicking the problematic can down the road. You're justifying transphobia with... whatever the fuck that is, it's probably rooted in misogyny. Can we start treating each other as people and actually caring about each other rather than just thinking about finding a sperm farm or baby factory to fulfil some obsession with lineage like a fucking medieval autocrat?
An aside, for those of you who feel hurt by this, please consider where your desire to have "biological kids" actually comes from, and consider the ethical implications of bringing another life into the world given the state it's in just because society said so
Dragon yearning hours...
Where are my wings...
oh to be a massive dragon and get paired with an anxious tgirl rider
rolling onto my side and lifting a wing to expose my soft underbelly and invite her to come cuddle with me so i can learn her scent 🥺
Which is why it’s important to not be mean.
Their cult teaches them that the world is full of scary monster people who hate them for being so good and loved by god. If you swear at them and call them names or get in their face you’re just doing the cults work for it.
I’m not saying you have to listen to their presentation or try to debate them (and really getting into a debate without thoroughly understanding what they’re being taught will just make things worse)… I am just saying to be polite and say no thank you like if they were trying to hand you a flyer for something you don’t care about.
It’s easier for them to see the world outside their bubble as less scary if they see everyday people just going about their business and being as nice to them as you are to everyone else. This goes doubly for anyone who happens to dress modestly, not swear, and not drink or smoke because whatever you believe, they’ll see you as a “good” person who happens to strangely have no interest in their “message”, and that might be enough to get some curious about the possibility of themselves living in the real world.
It’s sometimes hard to be nice to people who seem to represent something you dislike. Just remember these “elders” are sheltered young men, some of which are getting their first real contact with people of other/no faiths.
They are not your enemy. They are victims.
They aren't being sent out to actually convert people, they are being sent out hoping that they will be harassed and treated poorly so they view those outside the cult as dangerous and evil and stick to the safety of the familiar group.
You being mean to some teenager isn't sticking it to anyone, you're doing exactly what their church elders want to happen.
