This is both amazing and profoundly irritating - the exact writing equivalent of that thing artists do - you know, how they’ll mess up anything that’s on expensive paper and planned in every single detail but get them doodling during a boring lesson and suddenly they’re Michel-bloody-angelo.

Astoria actually ships Drarry!
Yes she adores her husband but has told him that if he ended up with Harry Potter she would not be upset. So much does she like the idea that one drunken night she admits that it would turn her on if he called her Harry during sex. When she realizes what she said she says “just kidding”. Draco laughs at his wife’s joke though he can’t pretend he didn’t see the passion in her eyes. A few weeks later Astoria comes home from a rough day at work. Draco hates seeing her in pain so takes her straight into the bedroom to cuddle. Cuddling becomes more of a snogging fest, which he expected, which becomes even more heated but he can tell that this is more to drive the sadness away then anything. She’s riding him when suddenly grabs her face looks her dead in the eye and says “I need you Harry” Astoria’s eyes grow wide with excitement but Draco blushes and mutters “shit” concerned Astoria asks “what’s wrong” Draco sighs and replies “that felt… good”. Draco then experienced the best sex he had ever had that night.
A few weeks later Draco goes to visit his beautiful wife at work and is surprised to see Ginny Potter chatting it up with Astoria. When she sees her husband she gives him a loving smile. “Darling, what a wonderful surprise!” She kisses him on the cheek. “I believe you know my husband Gin”. Ginny’s mouth hangs open for a second but she quickly recovers. “How did you get yourself such a catch Malfoy? I only remember you being a giant prat.” She says with a small smirk. Malfoy rolls his eyes. “Oh he still is!” Replies Astoria, “But he has good qualities too” The three of them get to talking, mostly the girls, when something catches Astoria’s eye and she grins. “Well if it isn’t my second regular patient.” An auror with an all too familiar scar walks up to to Astoria, “Yeah sorry doc, but it isn’t that bad this time I swear.”
“It better not be!” Says Ginny turning to face her husband “We are going out tonight.” Harry smiles happy to see his wife and looks to see who else is there. To his surprise he sees Malfoy, who is turning bright red. “Malfoy,” Harry says looking him up and down. “I’m surprised to see you here, I heard that you had a personal doctor.”
Malfoy, who is trying to stop himself from thinking about that last time he said old school enemies name, lifts his eyebrows. “I do, a very personal doctor in fact, she’s my wife.” he says as he puts an arm around Astoria giving Harry his famous Malfoy smirk.
“Bloody hell,” exclaims Harry, “I completely forgot you were a Slytherin Astoria.”
Astoria gives an airy laugh, “I guess I will take that as a compliment. Now, I really should get a look at you. Dear you won’t mind waiting a little bit longer for that lunch would you?”
Draco shakes his head no, nods to the Potters and goes to find a seat. To his surprise Ginny follows him and sits next to him. After a moment Draco clears his throat. “Yes?”
Ginny shrugs, “I thought I should wait for Harry.”
“Okay…” He replied, still confused why she would chose to sit so near him.
It’s not long before they see Astoria and Harry walking back out from the examining room to which Ginny practically jumps out of her seat to run over to them. Draco gives them a moment to say their goodbyes but to his dismay it’s Harry who walks over to him the girls still chatting.
Harry looks at Draco and sighs, “I have been asked by both of our wives to invite you to lunch.”
Draco’s eyes grow wide, his wife made sense but the she-weasel? And why would Potter go along with it? “Why in the world would your wife want to invite me to lunch?”
Harry gave a small embarrassed smile, “Not so much you, more your wife.”
Draco looked past Harry to see that Ginny had an odd look on her face, one that was very much similar to the expression his wife was giving both Potter and him. He blushed knowing exactly what that looked meant and then remembered what had happened a few weeks ago, just by saying the other man’s name. And looking at Potter’s expression, a mixture of embarrassment and anticipation though he was trying to hide it, he could guess that they were in a … similar situation.
Shrugging with a grin on his lips he said “Why not.”
Harry for the life of him could not figure out why Malfoy would agree to have lunch with Ginny and him. Not to say Harry wasn’t happy about it. Ginny fancied Astoria something fierce. Gin would never cheat on Harry but he had no problem with her fantasizing. More often then not after Ginny spent time with someone she had a crush on she would jump him and ride him hard for hours. And he liked Astoria, there was something almost Molly Weasleyish about her. Whenever he went to St. Mungos she would give him a sweet almost mothering smile, even though she was two years younger than him, and would treat him gently without being insulting. But she was also gracefully almost regal looking. He could see why Malfoy had fallen for her, not Harry’s type he preferred more tomboys with ragged edges. The true mystery of it all was why Astoria liked him. His last question was answered during the awkward lunch. Both Ginny and Astoria chatted and the two old enemies sat awkwardly avoiding eye contact. Ginny kept squeezing Harry’s leg in a way that told him he was going to be late getting back to work and Astoria kept glancing between Malfoy and Harry with a small odd grin on her face. The few times Harry would catch Malfoys eye the blond man would blush and look back at his food. All in all it was a very awkward lunch. When the check was given to them Malfoy grabbed it with the speed of Seeker then handed it back to the waiter, not even looking at the check, with a bag full of coins. “Keep the change” Malfoy said with a polite smile. The waiter looked in the bag and not believing his luck dashed away before the man changed his mind. Harry was stunned to the point of blinking, however Ginny was not happy.
“Oi, we could have paid for ourselves! We aren’t some sort of charity case.”
Malfoy looked her straight in the eyes and calmly said “I wasn’t treating you like a charity case”
“Showing off then?” Spat Ginny, she would not easily forget the amount of teasing Malfoy had done to the expense of her family.
Malfoy sighed, “that was not my intent.” Then he stood up. “I’m afraid I have to get back to work” he nodded at the Potters then bent down and kissed his wife on the cheek. Before Malfoy returning to a his upright position Harry and Ginny experience a completely new side of Draco Malfoy. He caressed Astoria’s face with his hand and shared a look with her that was unmistakably one of love it made you feel like you were interrupting a private moment.
“Don’t over do it at work alright?” Draco softly said to his wife.
She smiled affectionately at him and responded “don’t worry my love wild dragons could not keep me from coming home to you”
“Nor I you” he whispered back. He kissed her again and left.
Astoria watched as her husband left the restaurant. Then still looking at the door she said “he wasn’t trying to show off Gin.” She turned back to look at the Potters. “He knows full well the problems he has caused both you and your family. He paid because he felt honor bound to do it. No it will not change the past and he doesn’t expect to buy your forgiveness. It’s just all he believes he can do for now.”
The Potter’s blinked at her and Ginny softly said “oh”
The Astoria smiled at them. “I know that my husband has a very bad past but I ashore you that he is working on being the best person he can be. And to be honest I had lots of fun having lunch with you both, I was hoping we could do it again someday. But,” she added pointedly “I completely understand if this makes you feel uncomfortable.”
The Potters looked at each other, Harry shrugged and Ginny sighed with a smile. “Alright how about next Saturday evening we all go to pub. We can drink, I can yell at your husband about what a git he’s been and then if we can make it through all of that then we shouldn’t have any problems in the future.”
Smiling again Astoria replied, “I will ask him when I get home.”
That night the Potters received an owl with a letter saying “Saturday sounds lovely.”
To be continued….
The Saturday at the pub was more uncomfortable then the lunch they shared. Draco’s wife dressed up a little too much, not that he minded that red dress hugged Astoria in all the right places, and she always over dressed she was used to it at this point. Draco, knowing the pub a bit decided to skip the vest and just wear a button down shirt with jeans. The Potters, to no surprise, had worn their usual scruffy attire.
The girls greeted each other with a hug while the boys merely nodded at one another. They ordered some drinks and an appetizer and then there was just some awkward silence.
After what felt like an hour, probably only 30 seconds, Draco spoke up.
“How come you both were so shocked that Astoria was my wife? I mean it’s not like her last name is Greengrass anymore.”
“We were thinking about that earlier today actually,” Replied Ginny, happy to not sit in silence. “We figured out that we had never actually heard her last name before. I met her through the Harpies as she’s our assigned medic. But since I was late coming in to the meeting that introduced her to the team I only ever heard Astoria.”
“Yeah,” Harry piped in, “the first time I met her I was in having these plants starting to grow out of my leg and someone just yelled “someone get Stori she has been trained in this”
“And to be honest,” he continued, “I had no idea she had been a Slytherin let alone went to Hogwarts until the day I came in and saw her chatting with her sister and I kind of remembered them sitting together sometimes.”
“I knew,” said Ginny in a bit of a somber voice looking at Astoria “You were the Slytherin who would sneak food and medicine to us through Dennis Creevey during the war, weren’t you?”
Astoria gave a small sad smile remembering the small boy whose life had been far too short and nodded, “Dennis and I had been friends. As had a few others from the other houses. So I would do what I could without risking my families safety.”
Draco’s eyes grew in shock. He had never known Astoria had done that, and she had been only what 15?!
Harry whistled, “That took some guts. You could have been in Gryffindor.”
Astoria laughed and said,”Heaven forbid” with a dramatic over the top hand to the forehead. Then continued “Well I was actually a hat stall, though not for Gryffindor.”
“I didn’t know that,” Draco replied looking at his wife in shock. “Though I can see you in Ravenclaw I guess, you did find a why to graduate early from Hogwarts.”
“Oh no, not Ravenclaw the sorting hat kept saying I should be in Hufflepuff -”
Harry had interrupted Astoria’s story with a burst of heavy laughter. “Sorry,” he said still laughing, “I just remembered the one of the first things Malfoy ever said to me “imagine being in Hufflepuff, I think I’d leave, wouldn’t you?” and to think he almost married one!”
Both Ginny and Astoria joined in on the laughing, while Draco turned red. The drinks arrived and they continued to talk with a bit more ease. Draco was surprised the fiery red head had yet to make good on her promise at yelling at him. But he supposed it helped that he was still saying very little. He was only doing this for Astoria after all. He never excepted the Potters to like him, but he never wanted him or his name to interfere with Astoria making friends, not when she deserved the world to adore her.
They were on their 5th round when it happened. Ginny took a big swig of her beer and then turned and looked at Draco, “Alright,” she said slurring a little, “lets do this.”
Draco, who was also starting to feel his drink, gave her a confident smirk and said “Bring it on She-weasel.” Draco, could have just let have let her yell at him for hours. But he wasn’t sorted into Slytherin for nothing, he knew that if she just yelled at him that wouldn’t help Astoria’s goal to be friends with them. He had also paid close attention to Potter and his friends during their years at Hogwarts, a fact that had made Astoria very happy, so he had a feeling he knew how to play this.
Ginny had opened her mouth to start yelling at him but the boldness of Malfoy’s comment stunned her for a moment. Then she laughed “Alright, Ferret, if that’s how we are going to play it! You were an out right soddar growing up!”
“Yes I was!” declared Draco looking her straight in the eye.
“You mocked my brother and my family every damn chance you got!” Her voice getting louder.
“And I am sorry for that!” Draco replied matching her pitch.
Ginny sat on her knees and leaned over the table, “You kicked Harry down whenever you got the chance!”
“I was a complete asshole!” he mirrored her position.
Ginny stood up on her seat and Draco followed suit. “YOU WERE A ROTTEN PERSON WHO WAS, AND STILL COULD BE, EXTREMELY BIGOTED WHO NEEDED AN ASS WHOPPING TO GET HIS BLOODY EGO IN CHACK!”
“I WAS COMPLETE AND UTTER LOSER WHO NEEDED TO REALIZE THAT MUMMY AND DADDY WEREN’T PERFECT!!” he retorted.
“I HAVE HATED YOU SINCE I WAS 11 YEARS OLD AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME AND CANNOT FIGURE OUT HOW SOMEONE LIKE YOU COULD EVEN MANAGE TO GET SOMEONE AS NICE AS ASTORIA”
“THAT MAKES TWO OF US!”
They breathed heavily staring at each other still standing on their respective bar stools.
Harry turned to Astoria, “and this is why I suggest this particular pub. Everyone gets into heated quidditch discussions here so it’s not abnormal for people to be shouting at each other.”
Astoria glanced around and indeed there were many people shouting. There was even another pair standing on chairs just a few tables down. Astoria grinned “Good choice Potter”
Ginny and Draco made their way back into sitting positions. Ginny looked at Draco suspiciously and took another swig of her ail.
“One last thing.” she said after she swallowed though in a much calmer tone. “One last thing and we can drop this whole mess.”
Draco politely nodded for her to continue.
“I never wrote that valentine to Harry during my first year.”
Draco’s heart stopped. Oh shit
“Oh right, yes,” he said before she could continue. “It was Pansy alright. I was covering for a friend and you were the closest target.”
Ginny blinked “whaa-”
“One last round over here please! So Ginny I must know what it is like to play professional quidditch.”
With the amount of drinks in all of them he was able to keep the subject from returning to that god forsaken valentine. In fact they have many pleasant conversations.
By the end they decided to try and meet up once a month for a drink and a yelling session.
Astoria, having the least amount to drink out of everyone, offered to take everyone to their respective homes. Once she had delivered the Potters safely home she returned for her husband. They arrived at home and started getting ready for bed.
“Darling,” she started.
“Hmmm” he replied, he was trying to unbutton his shirt but the amount of ail in his system seemed to be still effecting him. He heard his wife give a small giggle and then she was in front of him helping him with his buttons. God she was wonderful.
“What was Ginny talking about that you blamed Pansy for?”
“Oh right, you weren’t there that year. ummm.” Draco couldn’t think clearly, he took out his wand. “Accio potion.” He took a swig of it and it sobered him up a little bit, at least to the point that he was only tipsy. “Right, that year we had singing valentines delivered to people. I do not remember all of the details but Potter got one and we got into some sort of tiff, per usual, right afterwards. So I turned to the she-weasel and said something to the effect that Potter didn’t like her valentine.”
“Oh,” she replied. “But Ginny says it wasn’t her.”
“Right”
“And you said it was Pansy”
Damn his wife. “Yes it was Pansy.”
“Pansy never gave a single damn about Potter when I knew her. Nor did Daphne mention her liking Potter before hand.” She was helping him shrug off his shirt now.
“Well-”
“Draco Malfoy I know when you are lying.” She threw the shirt in the hamper and had put her hands on her hips. If there was one thing Astoria hated it was when she was lied to.
“Damn it Stori, I didn’t- I just- FINE!” He threw his hands in the air and like a 4 year old stomped and threw himself on the bed. “I wrote it okay!” He said into the pillow.
Astoria had learned when he said something into a pillow it was always a truth that Draco did not want to be known. And usually as long as he said it she didn’t mind if she didn’t know what he said. As long as Draco told her the truth thats all that mattered to her. But unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, he had not covered his mouth fully and Astoria did hear him.
There was some silence and still slightly tipsy Draco had thought he had gotten away with it. Astoria walked to her side of the bed and sat gently down on next to him.
“Why did you send Harry Potter a valentine? Was it insulting?” she asked him calmly as she started to stroke his hair.
Draco blushed, “Er, well no.”
Astoria in the same calm tone asked, “Did you send it to him as a joke.”
“Er, kinda, at least that’s what I said to justify it.” He answered, he could feel his face getting extremely red. Damn he knew what his wife was thinking. He sat up, “Let me make one thing clear! I do not have a crush on Harry Potter, nor did I fancy him… most… of the time I was at Hogwarts. I just-”
Astoria interrupted and spoke very fast, “You had a small crush on him when you were 12 that you didn’t understand, which is why you continued to make fun of him. But as you grew up even if you realized how you might have been feeling you also moved on and started fancying other people thus no longer do you wish to be with Harry Potter.”
“Well… yes I think that pretty much sums it up.” Draco said blinking a little bit from all of the information.
Astoria jumped him.
Several days later Ginny was at a benefit when she saw the familiar gleam of blond long hair. She nodded politely at one of her teammates and went over to talk to Astoria.
“Oi Storia!”
Astoria turned and a large smile swept across her face, “Hello Darling” she kissed Ginny on both cheeks. “I heard the Harpies might be part of this! Is Harry with you?”
Ginny shook her head, “Nah, he’s been on a mission since, well since I last saw you actually. And what about the ferret is he here?”
“He was,” said Astoria, ignoring the jibe at her husband. “But he had to step out for some business.”
“Oh, that’s too bad…” Ginny trailed off looking awkward.
Astoria sigh, “Still having problems, even after that screaming match?”
Ginny took a moment to think, “Well, yes and no.” She said finally. “I can see that he absolutely adores you, and somehow you have changed him for the better. So yeah, he is alright the way he is now. That is from what I can see at least. But the past is still there. So yeah it’s a bit awkward but I will get over it.”
Astoria gave an understanding smile.
“There is one thing though.” Ginny continued, “Okay actually two things, the first is how did the two of you even end up together?”
“How do you mean?” Astoria inquired.
“Well, I remember you a little bit from Hogwarts. I remember you talking to Luna and I think I remember you helping Dennis with homework sometimes, and what with your helping people during the war! I just don’t see how you ended up with a Death Eater.”
Astoria hardened a little but she didn’t want to get into this fight, not in public, so decided to answer her question.
“He started to change before we started dating.” she told the redhead. “I might have been a Slytherin, but that doesn’t mean I knew him very well while I was in Hogwarts. I spent most of my later years hiding in the Ravenclaw dorm and if I wasn’t there I was in the hospital wing. So I never really got to know Draco until after the war. You know that I graduate from Hogwarts early dont you?”
Ginny nodded.
“Well during my last year I was also doing an internship with St. Mungos, Draco had been sentenced to community service and was assigned to work at St. Mungos at the same time I was there. At first, I wasn’t happy he was there and tried to avoid him. But then many of the other interns refused to work with him, I was the only one left who was somewhat willing. So I started to see him more. I worked in the muggle ward a lot, they were quite full then what with all the muggles who had been tortured during the war. And I won’t lie part of me kept accepting the assignments because I wanted Draco to see what his lot had done. Then about two months after we had started working in that ward regularly, I went in to check on one of the muggles and I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw that Draco was there. It was his day off you see and being there for extra time did not make his sentence go away faster. There was nothing to gain from it… Anyways, he was playing chess with one of the muggles, Dirrk. Dirrk was mostly alright-”
“Wait,” said Ginny, “I know about that ward, it was for the muggles who had suffered the worst of the torture or at least saw it happen. How in the world was he mostly alright?”
“We wondered that too at first, then he explained to me one day that he had been part of an organization called the Nazi Youth when he was small. He told me the things he had seen were yes magical but no less then what he had seen as a young boy. We mostly had to keep him because due to the amount of magic he had seen if we wiped his memory he would have been off a whole lot worse…”
Astoria stayed silent for a while, lost in her memories.
“So you walked in and saw him playing chess?” Ginny prompted.
“Yes!” Astoria replied shaking her head to get out of her fog. “I walked in on him sitting with this muggle playing chess and laughing. And I mean actually laughing. I might not have known Draco growing up but it does not change the fact that I did see him most everyday and I can tell you I had never seen that smile before. It was… real. He truly enjoyed Dirrks company. I think… I think Dirrk helped him realize that Draco grew up with the wrong beliefs. It helped because Dirrk had grown up in a very similar way, and yet Dirrk was able to get rid of those beliefs, I guess he showed Draco how to as well, in a way. I fell for Draco as I watched his friendship with this wonderful old man grow. The day Dirrk died Draco sobbed and then he went and told Dirrk’s family himself.”
Once again the girls dropped into silence. Ginny’s mouth was hanging open a bit. She couldn’t even comprehend what she had just heard. Draco Malfoy cared for a muggle!
Astoria broke the silence, “What was the second thing?”
“What?”
“You said that there were two things.”
“Oh right!” said Ginny remembering, “I was wondering why Malfoy even agreed to meet up in the first place.”
“Oh,” Astoria blushed and looked away, “oh well, as you said he adores me.”
Ginny gave Astoria a suspicious yet cocky smirk, “Oh yeah? Is that all?”
“Well I just said-”
“Doc, your face is as red as my hair!” Ginny laughed, “So what’s the real reason?”
Astoria bit her lip, looked around to see if anyone was listening then leaned into whisper to Ginny.
“The truth is… even when I was younger… I also thought that Draco and Harry … that they would have been a cute, well hot actually, couple.”
Ginny’s eyes grew and her mouth was automatically starting to sneer when she stopped. She thought about it. Yes Malfoy was a git, buuuuut if you looked at it from an aesthetic point of view… yeah she would consider it hot too.
“What about you?” Astoria said, trying to get off of the subject of their husbands fucking each other. “Why would you and Harry agree to having lunch and dinner with my husband?”
Ginny, who had already been blushing, turned a color of red that was even darker then her hair. “Ummm well… you know just to-”
Astoria stopped her, “I know when I am being lied to you know.”
“Fine, its because I think your bloody gorgeous.” Ginny’s eyes darted over to Astoria to see her women blinking in surprise. “That is not to say that I don’t also love your personality! And not that Harry and I are looking for a third. I just er well I would never EVER cheat on Harry but that doesn’t stop me from being attracted to someone. But it’s also nothing to worry about! I’m not going to like jump you or anything!”
“Well I would hope not, though I am glad to hear that you have good taste.”
Ginny nearly jumped out of her skin, and turned to see that Draco Malfoy had returned to the party. Merlins balls, fuck, why why WHY was he back?!
“I er..” she said and then watched couple have a silent conversation in just two seconds, which ended with Astoria smiling a goofy grin and nodding her head.
Malfoy turned to face Ginny with a confident smirk on his face. “Alright lets make a deal She-Weasel. Next time we go out, you can cuddle the hell out of my wife, I will hold Harry’s hand BRIEFLY,” he added with a meaningful look at his wife, “and neither of us will curse each other as a result.”
Ginny gaped at him, but when she looked at Astoria and saw the look of giddy happiness on her face, she turned back and said “Deal.”
