Faifa is my favorite (and as a result Junior), but let’s talk about the lovely Wine (and obviously Mark by association)
I’ve said it before, but Wine is so emotionally mature — as is Faifa — but the difference is that Wine is emotionally mature and confident.
Now you might be asking, “what the actual f do you mean? He was sobbing drunk not five episodes ago terrified of coming out.”
Confidence doesn’t mean you’re never scared or hurt.
And Wine is extremely emotionally confident.
While he might not have explicitly told Faifa he loved him or wanted to date him prior to episode 22 and the roof top, he has proven time and time again that he’s not just there for Fai in the moment but also willing to actively search for him to give support.
There are two phenomenal moments where Wine (because Mark is great) demonstrates how much he understands and loves Fai without many words.
The first I’ll mention I just a beat in episode 21 up on the roof after he finds Fai. Fai smiles and Wine takes this breath, gives a slight purse to his lips, and releases — then tells Faifa he shouldn’t smile if he doesn’t feel like it.
In that split second, Wine sees the truth — braces himself for whatever might come — and calls Fai on it because it’s what’s best for Fai.
The other I’ll mention was leading up to the confession in 22. Fai, demonstrating emotionally maturity but utter lack of self esteem, says that he was worried with Tor back in the picture everything would be like a dream (a pretty metaphorical way of saying he’d be abandoned again) and Wine is utterly shattered with the knowledge that Fai still can’t see his love.
But you can see from how Wine (Mark) reacts, the devastation isn’t directed towards Fai nor inward — he’s just devastated at the thought that Faifa can’t recognize it.
