Vending the Rules. noblehunger.

Something about Rabbit Ears’ enthusiasm for common things seemed to rub off on Johnny. He continued to smile lightly as she gushed over the vending machine. Still rose some questions for him, however. Where had she come from that she knew nothing about vending machines? How does a person become this elated from learning about vending machines? What is up with those ears?

"You’re… an interesting one." Weird, more like. “You’re not from around here, are ya?” He rubbed the back of his head as he leaned his side against a wall. He had met some truly strange people in Koi, but none as eccentric as her. Yes, eccentric was the word.

"The sounds and colors, huh? I’d tell ya never to go into a casino, then." Just imagining how hard she’d fall in the slot machines was giving him tremendous worry. "It wouldn’t end well." He kept eyeing the strange girl with an amused half-smile, as she offered him a drink.

"Hm… got any orange cream?" Secretly, it was his favorite flavor of soda.

"Hmm?" Koto tilted her head, raising two cans to brush against her cheeks. Immediately shivering, bunny ears rising with the shudder, Koto pulled the soda cans away. It was true that she wasn't from the area at all, nor did she know why she had been transported there as opposed to her love's home. "Nope. I'm not familiar with this place at all. It's very different from my old home." She was different now, as well. Another smile played on her features. "But a change now and then isn't so bad." "Casi...no?" Judging by his sentence, a casino was a type of place. "Is it truly that dangerous?" Koto questioned as she fitted the multiple cans into her bag. Amazingly enough the bag held the unusually high quantity of sodas with ease. "Thank you, however, for the warning." The bunny replied, as she stood up. "Orange cream..." Looking through the bag, she drew out a can with a smiling orange decorating the sides. Handing him that one, she drew out another for herself. Taking a sip of the soda, Koto's eyes widened in surprise. "It's bubbly!" The bunny exclaimed, wiping the bottom of her lips with her thumb.

It’s so cute and fluffy—he practically tugged the ears as if they were just warm bath towels stuck on the head. He had heard her warning, but one playful tug shouldn’t hurt a bit.

"Hyaa.." The bunny squeals, flinching away from him. "Please be careful." She frowns, gently brushing her ears from his grasp.

After the woman responds, she goes right back to typing, her fingers moving rapidly over the keyboard. By the angle her helmet is tilted, her focus is directed on the screen, watching as every letter appears one by one. She was somewhat frantic, what with living in a new city and all, but her demeanor remained calm when she tried to navigate. After riding around, she finally convinced herself to stop and ask someone, and she was very glad she did. The woman she'd stopped seems nice enough, and she was very grateful for the help she could offer. 

As she finished typing, the angle of the dullahan's helmet turned up, as if she were looking at the other. [I'm looking for Chai Condos. I haven't been able to find it, and I'd like to be able to visit my new home.] As she holds the device up, her shoulders tremble, barely noticeably, as if she's laughing.

Koto's silence reverted into humming as the bunny waited for the other to finish. She had learned a bit about the small devices others called technology and mobiles but there were still many questions left unanswered. With the screen tilted her way, Koto began to read again but not before commenting on the person's ability. Applauding as soon as the screen was shown to her, Koto flashed another smile. "Amazing! You type so quickly." 

A low hum followed her exclamation as thoughts went to the little geography of the city she knew. The time she had spent here had been spent exploring but Koto's exploration had been spent thoroughly inspecting unfamiliar objects like coffee machines. "Well, we should get you to your home. If I recall correctly, the Condos should be farther from the center of the city, which is here."

A warm feeling bubbled up inside of her. There was something calming about this stranger, but she couldn’t exactly pinpoint what made her so… approachable. Maybe Ayano just liked how the bunny ears looked on her, or maybe it was something simpler, like her peaceful expression - whatever the reason was, the one thing that Ayano was sure of was that she’d really like to talk to the other. Or, well, sitting with her and people watching seemed just as fun, too.

"Sure! I’d love to." Ayano replied as casually as she could after the stranger’s question, barely containing her relief and slight excitement. The stranger was not only calming, but also somewhat mysterious, for a lack of a better word. Though Ayano claimed to not dig her nose into things that didn’t concern her, she was always someone who let her curiousity get the best of her.

Sitting down quietly beside the older woman, Ayano watched as a flock of birds ate seeds off from the ground, gazing back to the stranger every now and then. "… Hmm… If you don’t mind me asking, how long have you been here, miss?"

"Great." Koto tilted her head, waiting for the other to sit down next to her. She was happy, despite the fact that her original wish hadn't been granted, despite the fact that Myoue wasn't here. She had exchanged one situation for another and while her feelings couldn't be uttered to the person most important to her, she was now able to interact with so many others. As a bunny, Koto had been able to watch over her capital grow but now she was able to interact with everyone and everything in sight. Vending machine buttons could be pressed. Feelings and thoughts could be expressed. No hate nor discontent was felt over her previous form but excitement was plenty with the new one. This person was now someone she could talk to.

Following the person's gaze, Koto observed an elderly woman feeding birds. Flapping wings and cooing. Pulling more crumbs out of a plain paper bag, the lady scattered them in the middle of the grey and brown mass of wings and feathers. A smile softened the edges of her lips before Koto returned to the conversation at hand. "I don't mind at all!" Finger tapping her cheek, the lady straightened in her seat. The same index finger that had been pressed against her face then lowered to form the symbol of a check mark with her thumb. "A week."

Lost

Silent wheels against pavement make their way down the road, with no light guiding the way. The motorized bike is completely silent, aside from the few brays that can be heard. The rider on the bike is completely still and focused, only moving to swerve the motorized beast that moves beneath her. As the bike swerves, the smoke trailing behind the rider becomes more visible than before as it flows from underneath her helmet. Faint brays are heard again while she directs her bike to ride along the road closest to the sidewalk. A walking figure comes into view while she makes her way toward it, slowing down as she nears. Once she gets the person’s attention, she pulls a small PDA device from her sleeve, holding it in one hand while the other’s fingers glide across the keyboard

[Could I ask for directions? I’m completely lost. I’ve just moved here and don’t exactly know my way.]

Hushed singing flows from slightly parted lips, the lyrics child-like but complimenting the soothing voice despite the owner's mature appearance. Hands folded over one another, Koto strolled down the street with the air of a noble woman. Amid the running around of children and plodding downtrodden airs of tired businessmen, she seemed out of place, an anachronism in the middle of Koi. The thought wasn't wrong. Plucked from the past, Koto wasn't born in the age of technology or vending machines. She knew nothing about the mechanics of cars or why they worked nor of television and internet. Yet, she accepted the unreal miracles and lived among them.

Her song was interrupted by an approaching figure on another unusual machine. Tilting her head, Koto stopped in her place and awaited the other. Bending forward to look at the screen, Koto raised her head after completing the reading. Shrugging her shoulders and giving a helpless smile, bunny ears floating upwards as she did so, Koto replied. "I'm afraid I'm also new to this city but I'll try my best to aid you."

2. A lullaby

Yet another visitor had found their way into Usagi Daycare. There was something about the building that called people, not only kids and parents. Perhaps, some part of them knew that this was a place for rest and relaxation. Attention turned to the door as the chimes above it rang softly. "Welcome!"

The man yawned, relaxing on the sofa as Koto hummed in hushed tones. Already the kids were asleep but this visitor seemed to need a nap more than the children there. Bending down, she opened the oven and placed her cookies inside. After nap time was snack time, as always. As she continued with her work, Koto's humming slowly turned into singing. A voice soothing and motherly began to lull the boy to sleep.

5. A piggyback ride

"Oh dear." Staring down at the man who had suddenly fallen to the floor in surprise at his sprained ankle, Koto covered her parted lips with her hands. "Hmm." Walking towards him, the bunny knelt down and smiled. "Do you need any help?" The question was asked but no answer was waited for as the bunny hoisted the man onto her back.

One step forward then another and the god was off of the floor and floating down the street. "Where are you heading to?" Was the next question and one she waited for him to answer.

Cotton Eyed Joe

What an interesting dare! Humming the tune of a certain song, Koto hopped down the streets toward Belladonna block. Having heard nothing about the shady part of town, she walked with an unsuspecting smile. The stares addressed her way were left ignored, or rather unseen. Her usual apparel was already more on the sexy side as others called it but compared to what she was wearing now it was as innocent as a toddler's pajamas. A black strip of cloth covered the larger parts of her chest with a heart shaped hole allowing some sight in the middle of the material. A short black miniskirt and stockings covered her legs and she sported a little black ball of fluff on the back of her skirt which was clearly meant to be a bunny tail. Now in the middle of Belladonna Block, Koto began to clap her hands together.

If it hadn't been for cotton-eye joe I'd been married long time ago Where did you come from. Where did you go? Where did you come from cotton-eye joe? Head moving from side to side and smile widening, Koto seemed to be enjoying herself with the music. Perhaps it would be best not to question the sexily clothed singing rabbit.

So many people and flowers. How wonderful! Koto grinned before pulling out a crown she had made previously. With so many people giving flowers, she had thought it better to be prepared. Dropping the flower crown on the person's head, she beamed. "And a crown for the princess~"
