giving her colors finally
These remind me of this drawing by Franz Kafka from the 1900s. We've been feeling this way for a long time.
prev, i'm sure you mean my guy Leonid Pasternak
anyone else daydream about hanging out with friends. love those guys...
Something I find completely alien as a concept is to hear someone from a different background pour their heart out about issues affecting them and their community and think, “wow, I don’t want to hear about this, goodbye.”

How could anyone react that way?
It takes such an immense lack of empathy, of compassion…
…but I also think it takes a lack of intelligence. To have the opportunity to learn more about the world you inhabit and go, “no thanks, I’m good” says to me that individual not only possesses zero drive to gain knowledge, they are willfully so.
Who are these people?
Why are these people?
We can’t be emotionally available all the time, I get it, no one can be permanently set to “on”. But to ignore the world around you, to disallow challenges to who you are and how you think is to declare yourself a finished product just living out the rest of their days in stasis.
What’s the point of a life like that? Why are you still here? To sit back, relax, and declare yourself to have “gotten yours” so no further self improvement or community enrichment matters?
I’m glad those folks have the privilege to live such a life.
I just wish they wanted the same for everyone else.
if you work in a creative field...or if you do creative hobbies like writing or drawing...you need to make friends with people who don't do those things. you need to befriend normie Steve who has never written a story in his life. and this is because when you are in a creative job or hobby and spend all your time doing that thing, surrounded by very capable people, who you inevitably compare your own progress and skills to, you forget what the baseline human skill at that thing is. and it's usually zero. normie Steve has not written a story since the 3rd grade when his teacher made him do it. he's very good at other things that are not storytelling - but if you tell normie Steve that you wrote a full 300-page book from start to finish, he will think you're some kind of savant. he does not know ANYONE else who has done this. you need this perspective. because when you're constantly on Let's Write Stories dot Com then everyone on Let's Write Stories dot Com will inevitably be like "oh of course everyone on earth has written a book or several at this point!" and you canNOT let yourself think that. that is not even close to the average human experience. you are in a bubble. do not put yourself down. do not give up.
I've drifted further and further from identifying as non binary because I wanna be affirmed in my femininity but nonbinary trans fems are so cool
honestly same
part of it for me was that for a long time i was afraid to be feminine and now i’m happy to be able to be more fem
One of the biggest DIY HRT hubs in the UK appears to have permanently shut down just days after being targeted by right-wing outlets.
HRT Cafe, a grassroots database of tutorials, resources, and information on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), closed its doors earlier this week.
The website, which was maintained by a small, anonymous group of developers, was considered one of the biggest resources for ‘DIY’ HRT in the UK.
It is not illegal to possess non-controlled hormones for personal use without a prescription in the UK.
Developers shuttered the site unexpectedly earlier this week. No official statement has been published, only that its developers were no longer accepting donations.
Its closure came just days after a number of right-wing news outlets, including The Daily Signal, published articles on ‘DIY’ vendors citing HRT Cafe and other resource sites.
HRTCafe.net, formerly DIYHRT.Cafe, is a website created to provide information for how to safely obtain DIY HRT for trans people who cannot

I've been seeing people talk about the setting the trans community back x years thing nonstop on twitter, what even was the original context here?
people say that being open about certain kinks or being cringe or even just demanding basic respect is "losing the support of allies" by "causing them to think twice about supporting us" or whatever.
its a lie about respectability politics, the belief that we need to change who we are to be more appealing and desirable to the oppressive class.
"setting the community back x years" is the common phrase they use, claiming that a few people online are singlehandedly undoing all the progress people have made to helping trans people be more accepted.
but that's untrue. ten years ago, trans people were MORE accepted than we are now. ten years ago was before trump, before the rise of massive sweeping transphobic legislation, before fear mongering and scapegoatting and cries about bathrooms and sports. it was just after gay marriage was legalized, most people didn't care, many were openly supportive. it was far from perfect, believe me. but i can tell you as someone who was openly queer back then, it was a lot easier when people didn't immediately think of the politicians calling for my death when they saw me.
and i cannot stress this enough, the shift towards a more hostile view on trans women is NOT the fault of any individual trans people. no, we didn't slide into fascism because someone on twitter was rude to jkr, or because a tumblr user has a mommy kink. the overwhelming hatred of trans women is due solely to the rise of fascism, and the inaction of the opposing party to do anything about it. every year, both usamerican parties shift closer and closer to the right, and the "trans debate" has been one of many hot topics where the middle ground compromise from ten years ago has become the new "radical left woke dei mind virus infecting your white kids and destroying america"
there should be a cool, chill way to say things like “I’m struggling” or “I’m having a hard time” that doesn’t imply you might have needs
i liked that video of a pig blowing bubbles but i thought i'd like it more if it played the amen break during it

cis coworker: hey can i ask you something personal
trying to learn how to make a fairly basic app for windows and i keep getting tutorials that go “oh just use ai to write it for you” and it’s so annoying
i want to LEARN things
not ASK the fucking BOX to do it for me
Ngl the panic around HRT happening at the same time as the GLP-1 weight loss craze is some incredible worldbuilding.
You have all these people just freaking out about the safety of sex hormones being used for the same purpose they have been for decades, meanwhile the same people who didn't even know what GLP-1 was until a few years ago are now eager to get on these medications and nobody cares about possible long-term effects or regret.
ok
tomorrow i get back to work on my writing
i’m so close to finishing the first draft of this book
