Reigisa Week 4 - Day 3/5? - Time/Change

Sooo... I kinda felt like Time and Change go hand-in-hand, so my entry sorta combines both. I hope that’s okay, but I kept coming back to the same scenario for both themes...

(Also idk why I cannot edit these properly for the life of me today, but...)

ANYWAY

The progression of Reigisa from Season 1 to Season 2 to what totally and undoubtedly follows Season 2 at some point: the inevitable domestic life. How far we have come since 2013... (´▽`ʃƪ)♡

A series of some of Undertale’s main bosses. (Idk if Muffet is a “main” boss but she should be tbh...)

I wanted to finish these forever ago, but basically these came to be out of a warm-up I planned to do with only Mettaton before starting classwork, and of course the whole thing got way out of hand when this became 9 pieces more appealing than my semester-long assignment, and I had to halt progress on these if I wanted to get anything else finished, soooooooo

Anyway, I had a lot of fun with these.

In case anyone was wondering, no, I’m not only doing Undertale art now, this is just some of the better stuff I have atm, and I’m still hoping to have a Free! print finished soon.

HEYY SORRY I’M LATE TO THE PARTY BUT I BROUGHT CHIPS and this thing-a-ma-doodle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This started out as a “oh my god I need to doodle some Undertale right now to get out of my sad fit from finals, let’s just do Frisk, Sans, and Papyrus” and then became a whole three-day project. I had a set of 9 Undertale panels I wanted to post first, but the last one is taking forever because I dread it every time I open the file. D| Luckily I finished this before my summer class started, because I’m currently swamped in that now and don’t have the energy to be working on my own things rn.

I’ve uploaded two versions, because the original image (top) is rude.

Reigisa Week 3 - Day 6 - Glasses

Arguably one of my favorite Free! official arts is one of the early fall works with the main five walking down the street all dressed up for autumn, havin’ a good ol’ time after shopping. Nagisa’s got this absolutely precious outfit going on, and Rei, who is walking at the head of the group, is actually turned a bit to look at Nagisa more directly. Can’t help but think he finds Nagisa’s outfit precious too. More specifically, I think seeing Nagisa in glasses makes him pretty happy.

(I actually got a couple of long posters for this art out of a blind box last summer and it happened to contain Rei and Nagisa, and that’s the story of the only time blind box ever worked 1000% in my favor but I digress.)

Reigisa Week 3 - Day 1 - Hand Holding

At the end of a very long, very formal first date, Rei finally winds down and, being alone for the first time all day, takes Nagisa’s hand as he walks him home. And Nagisa, who had been trying to initiate this contact all day, couldn’t be happier.

I’m so happy this prompt happened...~

I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to contribute for this week, but I wanted to contribute to this prompt at the very least.

My sixth Copic marker exercise.

The next set of first-borns are the Sourintori babies.

The eldest of their children is Sakura (right) and the first daughter of Rin and Ai. Her personality is much like Rin’s from his youth, a highly ambitious child with big dreams. Of her brother and sisters, she is the most serious about pursuing a career in Olympic swimming like her father, and is fortunate enough to have a huge family of previous Iwatobi and Samezuka swim team members to help her. Though she can be tough and oftentimes perceived as rude, Sakura is highly sensitive and has a soft spot in her heart for children, puppies, and kittens. She is sentimental and collects hoards seemingly useless things because she is fond of the memories attached. Not to be bested at her sport, she has a friendly rivalry with Nao, who’s her equal in swimming but claims he just “has fun with it” rather than taking it seriously. Her animal is a barracuda.

The second eldest is the first daughter of Rin and Sousuke, Akane (left). Unlike her older sister, Akane is reserved and self-conscious about her swimming as a child. (When she grows older and joins the Iwatobi swim team at Sakura’s constant pestering “recommendation”, she’s more concerned about her appearance, particularly her large height.) She spends a lot of time in her books, especially moved by romantic stories that often make her cry. Aside from her siblings, Akane remains fairly distant from everyone except Haru and Makoto’s daughter, who she feels very comfortable with due to their similar personalities and loves her very much. Her plan for the future is to become a teacher or a librarian, and to become someone’s wife. She is represented by a polar bear.

Yuki (center) is the third eldest, and the only son of the Yamazaki-Matsuoka-Nitori household, born to Sousuke and Ai. He’s fairly tiny and frail as a child, often allowing himself to be spoiled by Sakura’s natural charisma and letting her lead the way. He doesn’t know what to make of his younger sisters, but admires his older sisters and tries to do everything they do, and shuts down when he falls short of their abilities. He is the only child to attend Samezuka Academy in the future, where he is heralded as a legend and forced to take a spotlight. Yuki is imaginative when it comes to play, and strategic in planning. He has a love for stuffed animals, which continues through high school and is found endearing by his teammates, who find it cute that the cool, tough-looking guy likes adorable things. Yuki’s animal is a harper seal.

And of course, all the Sourintori babies are loved to death by dear Aunt Gou.

Technically my fourth Copic marker exercise. I’ve had this done awhile, but I forgot to color the jar and realized it as I was uploading it, so I posted the fifth one first.

I’ve gotten attached to drawing characters who don’t interact much on-screen together. The Free! ES OVA didn’t really deliver with the Backstroke Duo like they said they would. Although, I’m honestly more interested in Makoto meeting Pyunsuke. Not sure where Makoto stands on insects but I imagine having a stag beetle massive-mandibles-first in his face probably doesn’t fly. (At least he hopes to god it doesn’t fly. It does.)

I liked the end card of Momo chasing Ai through the dorm with a giant bullfrog. I have a feeling Makoto gets his share of this too once they start spending more time with each other.

“This is Pyunsuke” may or may not be one of my top five favorite parts of Eternal Summer.

Technically my fifth Copic marker exercise, as I was about to upload the fourth but realized I forgot to color part of it.

Recently, I’ve taken an interest in designing Free! babies. Instead of practicing my Copic marker skills on canon characters, I decided to try with OCs for a bit.

Nao (left) was actually featured in my Pediatrician Rei picture from over the summer, and was basically the reason I started this up in the first place. He’s the first child and son of Haru and Makoto, resembling Makoto mostly in appearance and in personality. Like Haru, he is happiest in the water, and is the most enthusiastic child when it comes to bathtime. He is calm and kind, and gets along well with animals, often trying to take home strays. Nao is fairly independent, but does enjoy the company of others. His animal is a porpoise.

Miki (right) is the first child and daughter of Rei and Nagisa. She’s mostly shy like Rei was as a child, but her personality opens up to resemble Nagisa’s bubbly self more as she grows older (and probably ends up getting glasses as well.) She loves sweet things and can find the beauty in anything. Miki can’t (rather, is afraid to) swim without her inner tube, and even then hesitates to get in a pool. Her fathers spoil her. Miki is represented by swan.

Since they’re practically cousins, Nao and Miki get to see each other often and are best friends. Nao often encourages Miki to swim more so she won’t feel so afraid of the water and tries to teach her different strokes, though she refuses to let go of her float. The two form a tight bond and understand each other well. Growing up, there is a familial connection between them, but not a romantic one.

Rintori Week - Day 4 - Gentle

After a few dates, Rin asks Ai to meet him at the pool late one night. No practicing strokes, no timing, just “hanging out.” It is the first time they are able to unwind around each other and play without a senpai/kouhai formality between them. Caught up in the moment, Rin cups Ai’s cheeks with a light touch, taking a moment to gaze at him ever so gently before he leans in.

My third Copic Marker exercise.

I particularly liked the designs we saw so briefly for Nagisa’s sisters, and as I feel their designs had so much effort for so little screen time, I really wanted to draw them.

The Hazuki sisters have had a fairly prominent role in my writing as of late, and since we probably won’t learn any more about them than we have already, I’ve taken to trying to develop their characters a bit and give them name so I’m not having to constantly refer to them as “the eldest sister, the middle sister, and the youngest sister.” Since Nanako is apparently a canon name for one of them, I assigned the name to the eldest sister, who I have taken a guess is the one in the middle. (I toyed with giving the name to the youngest sister for reasons, but ehhh. Wouldn’t complain if I were proved wrong.) I had a strong need for one of them to be named Natsumi, which I named the youngest sister (originally given to the eldest sister) who I have decided is the one on the right. On the left is who I have guessed is the middle sister, and I’ve named Nami.

Kyoani left us a lot to guess with here, so this is merely my take on the three of them. At least we got to see the Hazuki daughters unlike a certain Ryuugazaki son but hey who cares I certainly don’t *cares a lot*

My second Copic Marker exercise.

I’ve been working a bit with my first real OT3 lately, and since Sousuke’s birthday was last week, I decided to do a little something. But then because I was lacking markers and I’m a terrible Free! fan who prioritizes two characters it ended up getting finished late. But, like... This is the first “birthday” piece I’ve finished for a Free! character outside those two, so... congratulations, Sousuke. :o

I really don’t draw these three enough, it’s a nice change. ( ´◡` ) It’s nice having Rin, Ai, and Sousuke happy together.

So I started taking up Copic markers and I really like them so far :O

As an exercise, I’ve been doing chibi pictures of Free! characters I could probably draw more often and not because I lacked a blue for Rei’s hair until recently and then coloring them with Copics. This was the first picture I did for this series.

I’ve always been amused by Haru’s blatant disgust with Kisumi. I really wanted to do a picture summing up that relationship.

Whatever you do, don’t imagine Rei as a pediatric doctor. Don’t imagine how great he is at keeping the kids distracted while administering immunizations or tending to their injuries, ear infections, or achy tummies. Please don’t be tempted to think of how gently he speaks with them and how he constantly reminds them of how well they’re doing. It would be very dangerous to imagine him cheering up the scared and crying children with cute band-aids and lollipops. Just... do yourself a favor and don’t imagine how adorable that would be.

Aren’t you glad I warned you? (˵¯͒〰¯͒˵)

(And definitely don’t imagine that is a Makoharu baby)
