āBACK WHEN TIME DIDNāT MATTERā ā AN OIL PAINTING BY RIONA
Roald Dahl remade The Gremlins into a darker full-length novel called Some Time Never: A Fable For Supermen.
He really did include an entire paragraph about gremlin ass in a book about nuclear and biological warfare, misanthropy, and mass extinction.
I'm not suprised about that at all.
(This paragraph is exclusively in the version published by Scribners)
Peternip in Part 2 of Some Time Never: A Fable for Supermen
* Is sad and full of despair. Despises humanity, including himself, for not indulging in kindness.
Meanwhile, Peternip in Part 1
* Wishes to destroy snozzberry orchards to starve the gremlins
* Says that fifinellas (female gremlins) are more hideous than males because while bald males are okay, bald females are not, and that the female of any species is more cunning (aka literal misogyny)
* Literally just despises the gremlins species as a whole
I suppose some off-page character development happened. In Part 2, though, Peternip is quickly killed by a nuclear bomb. It makes me wonder how Peternip in Part 2 would've felt if he saw a gremlin again. In Part 1, the gremlins disappeared underground out of human sight to wait for humans to go extinct.
I wonder if Peternip's despair and sadness was driven by guilt over how he was during WW2.
A Relaxing Swim
(Collage based on a comforting dream I had, where I swam in a dark, murky, abandoned swimming pool.)
This is Alcinous, my budgiesona!
His head is TV static with sakura, and his tail is rainbow stars.
He likes things that are lost, and enjoys urban exploration and finding forgotten things.
It's fascinating to me how I'm very interested Roald Dahl's budgerigars. He simply had budgies that roamed his garden. And yet, I'm obsessed with them. They invoke a sense of nostalgia in me.
