Am I in the way?
I was about to feed our hungry cat this morning. Poor thing must have been starved because she was standing directly over her dish. Consequently, she was preventing me from feeding her. I don't know why, but I told her to move. Yeah, like cats ever listen to humans... So as I gently moved her aside with my foot in order to feed her. But as I ate my breakfast, I began to reflect. Am I like this cat?
This past summer I spent some time with a group of guys up in the Sawtooth Mountains around Red Fish Lake. During a particular quite time with God, I was staring at this majestic mountain in awe of His creation. As I pondered God's power I heard a whisper say to me "I can move this mountain, but I would rather move you." Wow! What a statement! It's so true though. If God wanted to, he could easily move that mountain. Can you say Mount St. Helens? But it is so much more difficult to move me. Something to do with free will I suppose.
So am I like the cat? Staring up toward my provider wondering where my next meal will come from? Perhaps the lesson in all of this is, I need to just get out of the way.
