In the interest of giving away some cool goodies and getting our names out there, Critical Hit Jewelry and Cherii Eclipse Studios are teaming up to do a giveaway! Lots of fun stuff to start with and if interest is high enough we’ll throw in a few extra tier sets!...
First story post in a while! Figure I'll cheer myself up from having potential-diabetes somehow. Pairing as labeled, and quick cultural note since I can't remember if I've said it before: Hime-chan is an affectionate way to refer to a young girl/woman in a positive manner. Sui-chan is nickname playing off of the name for a water lily.
---
"What a face you make! It doesn't suit such a beautiful girl!"
You startled from your daydream, staring up at the grinning boy standing over you. He was intruding upon your quiet place by the pond, but somehow the sight of him dripping wet and missing half of his armor made your lips twitch into a shy smile. Your tongue felt like it was stuck to the roof of your mouth, so you didn't respond with anything witty like you should have. The young man didn't seem to mind and instead dropped down next to you, still grinning like he was the luckiest man in Japan.
---
You hated embroidery days. Sitting still in the dull heat with nothing but a needle and cloth made you feel like you were asleep with your eyes open or sewing underwater. Noises felt muffled around your ears and air was reluctant to nourish your body as it should.
"Ne, Sui-chan!"
You looked up hopefully as Shingen peered into the room from the small window, helm crooked and lips curled into a mischeivous smile. It lightened your heart to see him so early in the day, but it didn't loosen the tightness in your chest.
"Let's play hooky! You hate sewing anyway."
He snuck around to actually enter the room, holding out one hand to help you up. You blushed as you placed your hand in his and he closed his fingers around it. Your hands always felt so small when he held them, but the warmth and strength you could feel in them never failed to make you smile.
---
"A sickness of the chest?"
You nodded, wringing your hands in your lap.
"They say it must have taken root in me when I was a child... Why else would I have so much trouble breathing when doing nothing at all? It makes sense, doesn't it Shin-kun?"
Shingen frowned, looking around to make sure no one was coming before he scooted closer to you to wrap one arm around your shoulders. He took your hand in his free one, stroking the backs of your fingers with his thumb. After a moment he lifted your hand to his lips and carefully kissed your fingertips. You could feel his smile against your skin.
"It's okay Sui-chan. You'll get better. I'm sure of it."
---
"You have to leave again?"
You couldn't keep the disappointment out of your voice. It was almost time for the wedding. Why was Shingen off on another campaign? It wasn't fair.
"Just for a little while. It'll be a quick sweep down, then back in time for the wedding."
Shingen smiled, pulling you against him and burying his face in your neck. You blushed, cautiously wrapping your arms around his shoulders. It didn't matter that he had definitely done more than that before. Touching or being touched by him was still something that brought the blood to your cheeks.
"... Be safe, my future husband... I'll never forgive you if you don't come back to me."
"I'll be back for you Sui-chan. You're way too important to leave waiting to marry me!"
You giggled as he straightened up to knock your foreheads together lightly.
---
"Sui-chan! I'm home! I told you I'd be back in time for the wedding!"
Shingen swung his horse through the castle gates with a grin. He'd probably catch hell from the other generals for galloping that last bit home, but they'd take it easier than usual. He had a young bride-to-be waiting for him afterall.
"Sui-chan!"
Shingen called out again, dropping off of his horse and shifting his battleaxe. Something didn't feel right. You weren't rushing out to greet him. Instead a handmaid carefully made her way out, outfitted in white mourning kimono. The breath froze in Shingen's chest. It reminded him of all the times you had complained of the air refusing to pass your lips and suddenly he understood the terror of it, the ominous nature of not being able to force air into the chest and what it meant. The handmaid dropped to the ground in front of the general, tears starting to streak down her face as she bowed low enough to press her forehead to the dirt.
"T-takeda-sama..."
Shingen didn't wait to hear the rest, letting up a howl of loss and falling to his knees.
---
"Y-yukimura-sama!"
"Aren't you happy Hime-chan?"
"Well, yes, but..."
The Tiger of Kai watched his ward with a faint bitter smile. He knew the moment that girl walked up to his gate that she would be Yukimura's destined star. It had taken entirely too much work to force them together properly, but it was worth it. He wouldn't allow his cub to make the same mistakes he did.
As Shingen Takeda watched the two, he mulled over the memory of his own destined star, a water lily fated to wilt before he could scoop her into the safety of his arms and name.
Hey guys. I'm sorry I've been gone so long. Life since October has basically bent me over its knee and spanked me. I've lost two jobs through no fault of my own (no seriously, he closed the stores because income was down), my fiance shipped out for a year, computer broke, tires went flat, etc. Etc. Etc. So motivation to get up to much of anything that requires serious thought like Basara fiction has been incredibly low.
But I should be more active in the coming weeks and am taking open requests. Miss Mocha, I do still have yours and am fussing with it. It should be up soon.
Putting this and the next one up because I have a request to fill and we need back story. >3

nanaue6465: so when can we meet in person?
Your sister was like a thousand times cooler than you and you knew it. She was tall and confident and gorgeous. You... you didn't quite believe her when she said you were just like her and shouldn't put yourself down. And you didn't want to scare Nanaue away by being younger than him and a dork to boot. He was a ball to 'hang out' with and you'd miss it if he stopped talking to you.
nanaue6465: hello?
yatagarasu13: there's that really pretty park over by your university... how about tomorrow afternoon? 3 or so?
nanaue6465: i'll meet you at the bench by the fountain. :) gtg for now. see you tomorrow.
You stared down at your fingers, wondering why they hadn't stopped the cursed message from leaking out of their tips. Now it was too late. Death warrant signed.
---
You hadn't stopped thinking that way by the appointed time, trying not to hyperventilate as you sat on the bench and staring absently at the rainbows in the mist of the fountain. A little part of you was telling you to run away screaming, but your legs felt like lead and you didn't think you could move even if all of you thought making a break for it was a good idea. The same 'self-preserving' part of you also tried to tell you that'd the two of you probably wouldn't even recognize each other, because he'd be looking for a younger Magoichi and you had no idea what he looked like.
Until, well, you recognized him without even knowing him. He approached the bench on the other side of the fountain, looking around and looking disappointed. You didn't know how you knew it was him, but something inside of you clicked at the sight of the stark white hair and proud face half-hidden behind a huge eye patch. You jumped to your feet, panicking a little when you realized that WHICH bench hadn't been mentioned. So you had two choices. Run away now, or get closer to the man that made your heart skip a few beats just by looking at him. Your feet made your choice for you, already carrying you to him as fast as they could.
"Nanaue!"
You waved, hoping the combination of yelling and waving your arms in the air like a fool would catch his attention long enough for you to get around the fountain. Why the hell was the stupid thing so big anyway?
Fortune was with you, as he definitely noticed. His face seemed to light up when he caught sight of you, lips curling into a wide grin. He was apparently a gentleman of some sort as he didn't let you close the whole distance between the two of you and instead jogged to meet you somewhere in the middle.
"I was scared you had decided not to show up. I guess I should have said which bench, huh?"
He bowed to you, laughing. Hopefully it was at himself and not you. You bowed in return, hoping the motion would cover the blush rising in your cheeks. He was terribly attractive. Unfortunately, you couldn't quite hold back the passing thought that occured to you when the both of you straightened up.
"You are a pirate."
He stared at you for a moment before laughing again and flashing you a wide grin that made your heart beat faster.
Oh my goodness. Well, in the interest of celebration (I’ve apparently joined the modern age, my blog has reached the triple digits), I will put out an open request notice! From now until 11:59 PM on September 26, I am taking requests for art or fanfiction, any pairing or situation you please, from...
Prologue to Dangerous Territory and Future. By a lot. Lol.

Why it was so important on this particular day was a mystery. One would think that first impressions on a man so important would always be a high priority. The only thing you could think of that might make a difference was the apparent duration of the stay. You'd been made to pack most of your favorite things and quite a few others for this trip. You supposed it was to be a season visit, but summer was an odd time for it and your parents had sent you ahead to arrive before them instead of arriving first to make introductions. Oh well, you'd gotten used to the strange way your parents did things.
You sighed as you leaned back in your seat, closing your eyes and quietly sifting your thoughts. You didn't really want to stay for a season. Takeda-sama was said to be very wise, but very much wrapped up in battles and the ways of war. His right-hand general Sanada wasn't rumoured to be much better, though he was reportedly a great deal younger than the Tiger of Kai. War didn't bother you because you were a girl or a courtier, but because no matter who won or lost someone wouldn't be returning home to those they loved. You sighed again, counting to ten to relax yourself. You were asleep by seven.
---
The slowing and stopping of your carriage jolted you back to consciousness what felt like a million years later. You blinked slowly, stifling a yawn with your wrist and listening for cues as to whether this was a water stop or your final destination. Judging by the loud greetings and exchanges of flattery, you had arrived. Another yawn escaped as you gathered your fan and the other small trinkets that lived with you, waiting for your summons to exit the covered vehicle.
You didn't have to wait long. Almost as soon as you finished gathering your little troubles your parents' head retainer spoke at the seam of the curtain.
"We've arrived Hime-sama. Are you awake?"
"I am awake. May I request assistance in getting down?"
The curtain was nudged aside and held in one of the retainer's hands. The other hand was offered to steady you by your covered elbow as you descended and were lead to the gate of the castle. Night had fallen in the course of your travels and you shivered slightly beneath your thin summer kimono. The first shiver was from the chill. The one that followed it was from the sight of the Tiger of Kai standing before the gate, eyes following you and lips in a humorless expression that made you want to hide.
"That's quite a bit of war paint for so young a girl. Were you told the reason for your travels Hime-chan?"
You blushed under the heavy layers of powder at the Tiger's words, bowing respectfully despite the urge to smack him with your fan. The sheer rudeness of the address made you sorely wish that your parents had arrived first to deal with the terrifying man.
"Not with explicit detail my lord. Though, by the amount of packing required I came to the conclusion that we were to be season guests in your honored halls."
"Not quite young lady. Wolves prowl near even the best-guarded halls and so flowers must be hidden to prevent their being plucked. Do you understand?"
Your confused look must have answered the lord's question for him, as he started to continue before you responded. However, he was interrupted by the sound of hoofbeats and a wild cry. You had a hard time believing a ghost didn't make such a noise, but it was apparently emitted by a young man clad in crimson who wheeled his horse up next to you with such recklessness that you felt the need to scramble out of your bow and out of the way. The rider dismounted, kneeling before Takeda and laying down his two spears at his sides.
"Oyakata-sama! This Yukimura humbly returns victorious in your glorious name! The borders are secure and--"
He cut off, staring first at the hem of your kimono where it crossed into the edges of his vision then slowly tracing his eyes up to your face. It would have felt like an indecent gaze were it not for the utter bewilderment on his face as he stared into your eyes.
"Oyakata-sama, who is this girl?"
His rudeness after such an entrance only infuriated you and you tilted your head up to look down your nose at him, snapping your fan out and holding it in the most insulting manner you could think of.
"Who are you calling girl? You can't possibly be that much older than I am and your hair looks like it might be longer than mine, you wailing crimson beast."
He flushed, about to snap back when his 'Oyakata-sama' cut in.
"Yukimura, Hime-chan will be living with us until such a time as her parents send for her or she finds a respectable husband. Please treat her well and make this a place where she feels like she can belong."
You and Yukimura both stared at the Tiger, mouths dropping open and protests filling the air like cherry petals in spring. The lord simply turned, walking through the open gate with a thin man in green and black shinobi gear.
The two of you looked at each other again, falling silent. Your first inclination was to say something nasty again, but he looked just as lost as you and so you held your tongue and watched him in silence. Somewhere deep in the pit of your stomach you could sense the wind of change. Either you and this boy would kill each other or you would be the best of friends. Only time would tell.
Don't get me wrong, I love most of the Basara crew. But I have a special place in my heart for the Oshu boys and Lord Happy. Mmm. He definitely grew up better than we thought he would too.
So, I'm (not so) secretly a raging Kou fangirl. Just sayin'. And why is this Kou and not Masa or Yuki? Because that would have been too easy. Lol.
---
"Oh no... Again?"
You looked on with a hand to your lips as Yukimura went zooming by to crash into a storehouse. Your own Date-sama went zooming after him a moment later, intent on taking the upper hand in their 'sparring' match. Koujuurou watched with you, standing to your left with all of the flexibility of a frozen metal rod.
Koujuurou's response was deadpan, displeasure obvious in the set of his mouth as he looked on. You frowned a little too, mirroring his expression as the two of you watched the fruits of young rivalry. It could only be hoped that they would survive long enough to settle into a nice, peaceful rivalry like Takeda and Uesugi. After a moment Kou looked over at you, a little surprised to see the frown gracing your usually smiling lips.
"... I'll deal with them. You shouldn't frown over it."
You blinked and whipped your head over to look back at him, catching him just as his eyes seemed to lock back in on the young lords. It would have seemed unimportant so far as comments go if it weren't for the faintest of flushes riding high on the retainer's cheeks. A smile itched at the corner of your lips, spreading them into the wide, welcoming grin the Date forces were so accustomed to. You turned your attention back to the violence, timidly reaching out to wrap your pinky around his in the shy semblance of an embrace.

Now, I keep promising these are going to get interesting. And now they have. So, my best male friend left his computer with me for work stuff because mine was down at the time. And then he REALLY left his computer with me and left the store while I worked. Well I got done and bored. So I made this his background:
(not sure who to credit the picture to, as I found it through Google and subsequent searches have turned up nada. flag me if you know please!)
and generally screwed with his visual settings. (everything was pink)
When he opened it up for the first time after. I did it he didn't know whether to be proud of me for doing it or mad that he didn't do it first. xD It was a good day.
Also, am I the only one who thought Kou was nekkid at first?
"YUKIMURA! YOU SHAME HIME-CHAN BY TREATING HER LIKE A COMMON TROLLOP!"
Damn it all. You groaned again, covering your face with your hands and digging your thumbs in under your jaw in the hopes that it was all just a dream and the pain would wake you up. No such luck. Your pain only seemed to call over Yukimura's jerk of a shinobi. The green-clad man grinned at you, scratching his cheeks.
"Dear... Seems Takeda-sama heard about Danna's little slip-up."
"I wonder how."
You gave him your best dead-eyed unhappy look and frowned as deeply as you could. Smug bastard wasn't fooling anybody. Yukimura peeled himself off of the wall he had been thrown into, charging back towards Shingen and yelling all the while.
"OYAKATA-SAMA! THIS YUKIMURA HAD NO INTENT OF SHAMING HER! HIME-CHAN IS A RIGHTEOUS AND BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN! IT IS SIMPLY BEYOND MY POWER TO RESIST HER!"
Yukimura went flying by again and all you could do was bury your face in your hands again from the sheer shame. Did he really have to yell that out? You didn't even get to kiss him and all this nonsense was occurring! A tiny part of you died from embarrassment and all you could think was that Takeda was going to send you to a nunnery. Probably up in Uesugi's land. You'd have to remember to pack your warm clothes. It was apparently cold as hell up there. Despite your inner musings, you kept an ear on the conversation just to see where the abominable thing went.
"PAWING AT HER LIKE SOME GREEDY FOOL DOES NOTHING BUT HARM HER FUTURE! NO MATTER HER CHARMS, NO MAN WILL BE WILLING TO TAKE HER AS WIFE IF IT IS RUMOURED THAT YOU COULD NOT KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!"
"To think about Hime-chan leaving this happy home to marry another man is like an arrow in my chest!"
You looked up at that confession, watching Yukimura go flying by for the third time. He didn't fly as far this time, skidding to a stop a few feet in front of the wall instead of slamming into it. Shingen stood with his hands on his hips, looking down at Yukimura with something that looked suspiciously like pride.
"To feel such a way for a woman and express it as you did is shameful! An honorable man does not force his touches upon his unmarried love, but instead takes her as wife and holds her close for all their lives! Do not let honest love in a favorable circumstance pass you by!"
Yukimura sat up, looking at his lord with nothing short of blind admiration. You wouldn't say it was a good thing that Yukimura was either too dense or too innocent to connect the dots in Shingen's statement, but it did mean that things could be decided when emotions weren't running so hot. You loved Yukimura with everything you had in you, but you didn't want to be bound to him for good if this was going to turn out to be him being young and silly and hormonal.
"So you're saying that I should seek Hime-chan's hand to keep her close to me always!"
Or not.
"There is no other honorable way to express the emotion that boils your blood! I will write to her parents immediately on your behalf!"
"Oyakata-sama!"
"Yukimura!"
"Oyakata-sama!"
"Yukimura!"
"Oyakata-sama!"
"Yare yare..."
You stared at the pair in either horror or terrible joy. It was hard to tell the difference at this point. Either way, you couldn't believe they had just decided your future in the middle of a yelling match.
"Guess you should start thinking about your wedding, eh?"
"I swear to whatever god is listening to me right now, if you say one more word I will stab you in the eye with a hair stick."
Oh my goodness! More people! Hello wynosaurus and raiheeho! It's lovely to meet y'all! I hope you have a good time following this page and if you have any requests feel free to holler them out!
So as a quick introduction, my name is Marie (Cherii, pronounced like 'cherry', on Tumblr) and I'm 21 years old. I go to a coed liberal arts college on the southeastern coast of the United States (majoring in Art Education) and some days I feel like dork personified. Writing is one of my hobbies, along with art (obviously), video games, and roleplaying games (Legend of the Five Rings = <3). I adore talking to people, so if the urge ever strikes feel free to grab me for a convo here or at my Skype handle lethe.demarin
Tadakatsu gave you a knowing look as he passed you on his way down, typically solemn gaze giving you more insight than most thought possible.
Things weren't good then.
Your initial assessment was proven when you reached the summit of the battleground to find Ieyasu on his ass in the dirt, hood up and head buried between his arms. Mitsunari's prone body was flung out in front of the young lord, sword still within grabbing distance as if the man would reanimate to grab it and take a swing at his rival. It was a good thing that his grudge wasn't truly that strong. Strong enough to drive him to his death, not back from it.
"Ieyasu."
Touching the man you had come to adore when he wasn't expecting it might have resulted in physical injury, so instead you called out to him and watched him start and scramble at the sound of your voice.
"You don't have to get up."
He hesitated before sinking back into his previous position, head down and hood still up. You sank down next to him, mirroring his position.
"... so it's over, huh?"
"... Yes."
The fight to keep his voice level was obvious and you reached over to brush the backs of your fingers against his cheek behind the hood. The fact they came back wet with tears didn't surprise you and you wrapped your arms around the shaking warlord, shielding him from prying eyes as he caved again and shook with sobs for the friend he had to kill,
