Its about growing to become the person that can accomplish that goal.ā 39. You and I can make our lives one of these legendary inspirations, as well, simply by having courage and the awareness that we can control whatever happens in our lives. Although we cannot always control the events in our lives, we can always control our response to them, and the actions we take as a result. 40. Weāve all heard about people whoāve exploded beyond the limitations of their conditions to become examples of the unlimited power of the human spirit. 41. āHow am I going to live today to create the tomorrow Iāve committed to?ā 42. āSuccess is buried on the other side of rejection.ā 43. You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever: the very next person you stand behind in line or sit next to on an airplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that youāve been waiting for to fall into place. If you really want your life to be passionate, you need to live with this attitude of expectancy.ā 48. āThe secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Donāt think about who you have been. And as a result, they never make the decisions that could make their lives into the masterpieces they deserve to be. Iām here to tell you that itās not important initially to know how youāre going to create a result. Whatās important is to decide you will find a way, no matter what. 55. āThere are no real successes without rejection. The more rejection you get, the better you are, the more youāve learned, the closer you are to your outcome⦠If you can handle rejection, youāll learn to get everything you want.ā 56. āItās not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs as to what those events mean.ā 57. āRemember: we all get what we tolerate. So stop tolerating excuses within yourself, limiting beliefs of the past, or half-assed or fearful states. Use your body as a tool to snap yourself into a place of sheer will, determination, and commitment. Face your challenges head on with the core belief that problems are just speed bumps on the road to your dreams. And from that place, when you take massive actionāwith an effective and proven strategyāyou will rewrite your history.ā 58. āThe birth of excellence begins with our awareness that our beliefs are a choice. We usually donāt think of it that way, but belief can be a conscious choice. You can choose beliefs that limit you, or you can choose beliefs that support you. Donāt try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.ā 68. āIn reality, at the time I was being incredibly negative and seeing things worse than they were. I was using my pessimism as a shield. It was my feeble attempt at protecting myself from the pain of failed expectations: Iād do anything to keep from being disappointed once again. But in adopting this pattern, this same barrier that kept me out of pain also kept me out of pleasure. It barred me from solutions and sealed me in a tomb of emotional death where one never experiences too much pain or too much pleasure, and where one continuously justifies oneās limited actions by stating theyāre ājust being realistic.ā 69. ā1. What do I really want? (Vision.) 2. What is important about it? (Values.) 3. How will I get it? (Methods.) 4. What is preventing me from having it? (Obstacles.) 5. How will I know I am successful? (Measurements.)ā 70. āmost fears in life rarely come to fruition.ā 71. āAny pattern of emotion or behavior that is continually reinforced will become an automatic and conditioned response. Anything we fail to reinforce will eventually dissipate.ā 72. āUnderstanding state is the key to understanding change and achieving excellence. Our behavior is the result of the state weāre in.ā 73. āDeciding to commit yourself to long term results rather than short term fixes is as important as any decision youāll make in your lifetime.ā 74. āThe truth of the matter is that thereās nothing you canāt accomplish if: 1) You clearly decide what it is that youāre absolutely committed to achieving, 2) You are willing to take massive action, 3) You notice whatās working or not, and 4) You continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way.ā 75. āBeliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.ā 76. āMy teacher Jim Rohn taught me a simple principle: every day, stand guard at the door of your mind, and you alone decide what thoughts and beliefs you let into your life. For they will shape whether you feel rich or poor, cursed or blessed.ā 77. āMaking a true decision means committing to achieving a result, and then cutting yourself off from any other possibility.ā 78. āRealize that you may have misinterpreted the situation completely, that your anger about this person breaking your rules may be based on the fact that they donāt know whatās most important to you (even though you believe they should).ā 79. āThe three decisions that control your destiny are: 1. Your decisions about what to focus on. 2. Your decisions about what things mean to you. 3. Your decisions about what to do to create the results you desire.ā 80. āmany of the most famous people in our culture have achieved their dreams but have still not found a way to enjoy them. They often turn to drugs because they feel unfulfilled. This is because they are missing the distinction between achieving oneās goals and living oneās values,ā 81. āWhich do you tend to focus on moreāwhat you have or whatās missing from your life?ā 82. āMaking a true decision, unlike saying, āIād like to quit smoking,ā is cutting off any other possibility. In fact, the word ādecisionā comes from the Latin roots de, which means āfrom,ā and caedere, which means āto cut.ā Making a true decision means committing to achieving a result, and then cutting yourself off from any other possibility. When you truly decide youāll never smoke cigarettes again, thatās it. Itās over! You no longer even consider the possibility of smoking.ā 83. āIf you donāt plant the mental and physiological seeds of the results you want, weeds will grow automatically. If we donāt consciously direct our own minds and states, our environment may produce undesirable haphazard states. The results can be disastrous. Thus itās critical thatāon a daily basisāwe stand guard at the door of our mind, that we know how we are consistently representing things to ourselves. We must daily weed our garden.ā 84. āThe person who is motivated by necessity is interested in whatās known and whatās secure. The person who is motivated by possibility is equally interested in whatās not known. He wants to know what can evolve, what opportunities might develop.ā

āif you canāt brush your teeth thatās fine uwu one step at a timeā posts are supportive and thatās great but Iām about to have a 4.4k$ dental bill because I wasnāt taking care of my teeth when I was super depressed so uhh brush your fuckin teeth
the reason I bring up those posts is because every time I saw one I felt less and less bad about not brushing them and when my teeth actually started causing problems it made my MH worse because I was having horrible anxiety about my teeth getting worse and now Iām facing procedures that will probably be pretty painful and will definitely be expensive so I kinda got some beef with the anti-recovery culture on this site
switch up the language a little.
didnāt brush your teeth this morning? forgive your past self and do it now!
woke up at 3am and realize you didnāt brush your teeth before bed? 11pm you was tired, forgive yourself, and just do it now!
āitās okayā DOES lose helpfulness when you forget that itās supposed to mean ādonāt beat yourself up about mistakes, and donāt let it keep you from doing something different.ā
present you and future you donāt have to suffer just bc past you slipped. past you was going through it. give them a break. but, please, donāt let that stop you from doing something different. 11pm wants 3am you to feel better, even if they couldnāt make it happen.
so fucking true
does any one else think it should be easier
Daniel F. Gerhartz
As a Scottish person living in England I feel this on a personal level, when people say shit likeĀ āwell itās not the genuine asylum seekers Iām bothered by, itās the people who just move here to get a better job and take advantage of our welfare systemā and Iām likeĀ āMate, I literally moved 500 miles south to a different country just to get a better job and better weather, if youāre going to hate on anyone for that hate on me.āĀ
Then they try to back-track and say things likeĀ āWell you already speak perfect English so itās fineā and Iām likeĀ āMy grandma didnāt speak very good English when my grandparents settled in the UK from Finland, what are you trying to say?āĀ
And theyāre likeĀ āWell Iām sure youāre grandparents had useful jobs and werenāt just sponging off the system.ā like⦠nah, my grandma mended clothes and my grandad sold garden sheds, they werenāt exactly brain surgeonsĀ
āBut theyā¦ā just admit it, itās not white immigrants that bother you, I doubt Americans go on marches protesting the Canadian undergrad students who overstay their visas or all the germans and scandinavians who just rocked up in the Midwest one day and decided to call it their own.
This was how I finally started to understand white privilege.Ā
