I view reading fantasy/sci-fi stuff as "this work of fiction is being translated into english so that I can understand it, meaning some phrases should not be taken literally" lord of the rings style, and then I meet people who nitpick every word or phrase that "shouldn't exist in this story" and I'm like wow you guys are truly miserable and unimaginative. and also you tend to assume that english words all popped up in the 19th century and you never bother to check the etymology of the words you're claiming "shouldn't exist in this universe"

like sorry but in an apocalyptic alternate-universe earth, the phrase "train of thought" is plausible even in a world without locomotives, because the word "train" comes from the 14th century, and it meant "to drag"

that's why we call dress trains "trains". because they drag. the word wasn't invented for locomotives.

Do you have any headcanons about vilanelles childhood or parents or how she became an assasin lmao

we know she was obviously raised in a shitty situation and taken from prison because of her inclination for violence and lack of empathy for her victims.

i see her as a kid fantasizing a lot about wealth, wanting pretty dresses and spending her time window shopping, but never having the money or the parents who care about what she wears, what she eats, etc., so it didn’t really matter how long she spent staring at the nice suit in the window, she wasn’t going to get it.

her food fascination as well… the fact that she’s always eating different things at unorthodox times, she didn’t get much food, good or otherwise growing up and now that she lives in paris (which she definitely juvenile-y saw as an escapist fantasy as a kid from her home) she can live like a literal queen.

as for anna, she was in love with her, as much as a minor can be in love with a manipulative adult. anna represented a lot of what she didn’t have: there’s mommy issues there, there’s a home that was warm and loving, and there was a woman who knew her potential and her curiosity and saw her as something different than the shitty kid who was weird and violent, and villanelle of course dove into this relationship with all her heart and of course the events played out like they always would.

Suddenly she’s in prison for quite a few years and then the 12 approach her with an offer that would literally give her everything she’s dreamed: wealth, freedom, doing what she’s good at… She probably never thought about saying no.

john shepard: fitness instructor (and probably also ex military), wears sleeveless shirts, rides his mountain bike everywhere, early bird, probably does stupid shit in the morning like jogging, left handed, coffee fanatic, bites his nails, A Broke Bitch, roomies with jack, college drop out, david anderson is his (adoptive) dad there is no other way

samara: yoga instructor, Full Time Lesbian, cool (sub)urban mom, meditates (sort of already canon), knits, “kids pls take your vitamins” “you’re not my mom, samara”

liara: either a librarian or an archivist (maybe both), cat lover (or maybe allergic to cats) (maybe both)

ashley: your hot high school gym teacher, “no gym clothes again huh. drop and give me 20, soldier”, roomies with liara

kaidan: english/physics teacher, owns a dog, hot choclety milk, elbow patches, dress pants, did a photoshoot for a hair gel advertisement in his early twenties (and everyone makes jokes about it)

garrus: mechanic (muahaha)

jack: barman, is a dummer in a band, she has gigs in the bar where she works and the whole squad shows up, “put it on the tab jack” “fuck off shepard, rent is due next week”

miranda: school guidance counselor, passionate about her job/helping kids, married to samara

james: barista, ???, shepard is his fitness instructor

small random things i would do if i lived in the mass effect universe:

actually get tattoos because i could get them removed. the only reason why i'm not getting any at the moment is because i'm afraid i might change my mind and the removal is so pricey and invasive. i imagine in mass effect you buy some at home device and remove them yourself, like shepard did with their scars.

buy photo frames for digital photos. and i would change it to a new fictional character every week. obsessed fangirl vibes i know

watch an asari stripper. not because it makes me aroused - i'm demi - but because of the aesthetics. their dancing is sooo beautiful. even if i were just watching choreo in a video, i'd love it!

get some VI kind of mirror to suggest me outfits so i can put together the perfect gay outfit. the fashion tech in ME must be so cool??

i'd also get a personal assistant VI to act as my body double and to guide me through routines and motivate me to do things

I actually do think we should discourage women from becoming housewives. Do not become financially dependent on a man. That's how a lot of women ended up dead over the years. A man gets violent suddenly and you have to choose between homelessness or potentially dying at his hand because you have an enormous gap in your resume and no degrees or certifications or anything that will help you pursue a career that will allow you to be financially independent. He owns your bank account. His name is probably the one on the car. Try and leave and he can report it stolen. Where will you go then?
