“I dont know, D. You know he’s sorta a wreck around this time of year. Maybe its not the best time for an eye opener. I sure wish it was though. The older I get the more tiring this gets.”

“Look if it sends him over the edge then just splash out on some sort of ridiculously expensive gift to seal all the wounds. That’s a tried and tested method of healing.”

“Leftovers are the best part about holidays. Good food in minutes, without the hassle, and without the dress clothes.” Reese laughed, shaking her head. “I can’t even blame my parents. They tried, I just can’t freaking cook.”

“Yeah I mean I don’t think they taste good as an actual meal, because they’re just leftovers but I’ll take them over nothing.” Drew chuckled. “I like to think I can do it, I just don’t know how yet.”

“I mean I assume that’s what’s going to happen. Either that or there is some secret class for it or something.”

Camille groaned and pulled out another dress from the stack. “This is so stupid. Maybe this should be the year that I turn up in my usual torn jeans and leather jacket. ‘Surprise daddy, you’re little christian baby is actually the devils child’”

Drew laughed, eyebrows raising as she listened to her. “I think you should. Sure it might give your old man a heart attack, but it might just also give him the wake up call he needs to have.”

“I hate family get togethers. And the fact that My father is blowing up my phone asking me about christmas just two days after thanksgiving is giving me a headache.” She hung the dress back up on the hanger and shrugged. “Maybe the next one.” She had already tried on five before this.

“Does anybody like family get togethers? Maybe you should just put your phone on silent, then you don’t actually have to acknowledge anything.” She mused, watching the other girl. “No. Not that one, not in the slightest.”

“My mom always pulls it out a day or two before to thaw it and then there’s brining it. I don’t know how she does it.”

“Because parents are just a lot more gifted at this stuff?”

“I thought thawing the turkey was supposed to be the easy part? You just kind of…leave it in the fridge for a while.”

“Yeah well I thought it was mean to be easy too but the universe really proved me wrong on that one.”

“Isn’t turkey like the traditional food?”

“Well how big’s the Turkey? Per pound it takes thirty minutes to thaw. SO if its a small turkey it should just take a few hours. Then you know a few hours to cook.”

“This is suddenly becoming a lot more complicated than I thought it would be.”

“Don’t you just like, leave it to melt? How hard can that be? You’re supposed to give it a few days.”

“You’re probably right, just sucks I don’t get to actually be the domestic goddess I thought I was going to be.”

“Realizing that I’ll probably never be able to go through all of the work it takes to make a holiday dinner really makes me appreciate all of the dinners my family made in the past. Leftovers are more my speed.”

“Leftovers are just crazy easy to handle right? I mean am I embarrassed that I can’t make a holiday dinner, yes but it doesn’t matter because I’ll just blame my parents for lack of teaching.”
