i love that star wars comic where padmé's surviving handmaidens hold a last stand against vader but honestly if i were them i would have dedicated the rest of my life to the most comprehensive and inescapable fake haunting in the history of the galaxy. man should not be allowed two successive heartbeats without seeing his dead wife's face gazing soulfully at him across the room and slipping away before anyone sees. literally what else is the point of being a highly trained operative capable of perfectly imitating your best friend if not to torment her husband for decades after she's gone.
You will simply never convince me that the lyrics to "It's Hard To Be A Saint In The City" aren't "Them downtown boys sure talk pretty."
It's so clear that all Lestat has ever wanted is to be loved, so desperately. But he doesn't know how to deal with it, and lashes out and fucks everything up, time and time and time again and then acts like this is what he always wanted.
I lowkey hate when programs talk to me in a friendly way. "don't worry, nearly there!" Shut up. It should say "loading 64.3% completed. Do not turn off device" and absolutely nothing else. You arent my friend you are computer. Act like it
And apart!
whole lipstick on a pig is bogus to me because we put lipstick on a pig and this is what happened
surprisingly forward-thinking of jim henson and co. to make a female character in the 70's that's allowed to be loud-mouthed and violent and kind of overwhelmingly romantic and even a huge bitch at times and not have a moment where any character asks her to change
going through all the muppet movies in a row made me realize that like. miss piggy was made in the 70's. and it's so rare even today to have a character like her. she's loud, she's selfish, she's funny, she's extremely vain, she's obsessed with romance, she's violent, she's kind of annoying, and there's not a single moment in any of these films where she's asked to tone down any of these personality traits. i am not joking when i say that miss piggy might be one of the best treated female characters ever written

The one thing I cannot get over is that Louis presented this aesthetically perfect, morally repugnant version of Lestat. And at first I was like, "of course, he wants to make himself look better". But then @redcognito was like "Do you think it's Armand's fault?" and now I'm just upset at the idea that Louis was lying about Lestat to protect Armand and it's just easier to say "yeah, he was hot, but he was bad. So much worse than Armand."
This show is going to kill me.

When I first watched 1x08 a few months ago and Gates turned away to face the door and Flint got that look in his eyes (I mean we all knew what was coming at that point) I just accepted it and went. Well. Sympathies, Hal, but you are in the way. NEEDS MUST. I was obviously sad about the neck snapping and all. But Nassau, baby. Jimmy has a vision. It's disjointed and immature but at least he's trying. Truly did not strike me that there were people out there who did not become ferociously attached to Flint's gore-covered self right from the get-go. You mean to tell me that you saw his shameless theatrical lying, you saw his desperate monomania, you saw him beat a guy to death with his bare hands (and a cannonball) for an audience. And you didn't like him? You saw his utter disdain for every man in sight and then you saw him turn right back around and very sincerely say "They're not animals, Mr. Scott. They're men starved of hope" and you didn't like him? You saw him fall to his knees at Miranda's door. And saw his whole being collapse with relief when she spoke. And you STILL didn't like him? Such is the curious variety of this great and beautiful world
You don't like him? And his little permit?
I will expand on this later. probably. but I think we often dance around the fact that one of the (many, numerous) reasons why silver makes the flint-related choices he does at the end of the series is because of... drumroll for the thesis statement of the show... his shame. he makes those choices, not just because he is unlike flint (and by extension madi, with their revolutionary motivations), but also because he is unlike thomas, miranda, vane, teach, etc. in that 'john silver' is built entirely from shame.
silver doesn't have NO past. that's not the problem. the problem is that his past is something he is ASHAMED of. to the point he is incapable of speaking about it. he doesn't appear to feel shame for the things that he did to survive that past (re. 'guilt is natural, it goes away if you let it'), but shame at what that past did to him. what it reduced him to. he is ashamed because that past made him into something that doesn't matter.
of course, for a while, he could pretend that NOTHING mattered. so no biggie. but then... and he's trying to be long john silver, now. and long john silver matters. not just to all the pirates, but to a few very specific people. wink wonk, if you will.
except he's not long john silver. and he cannot 'know no shame'. because you would have to be a real person to do that. and well. #myvoid #myshame

A series of screenshots from Black Sails and Muppet Treasure Island.
First is of s3/s4 John Silver on board a ship. Looking through a spyglass. He says, âWhat the fuck?â Second is Captain Flint looking in Silverâs direction, concerned. Third image is Flint staring through the spyglass. The fourth image is viewed through the spyglass lens - we see the Muppet crew on board their boat heading to Treasure Island. Itâs a chaotic jam-packed scene. Final image is of Flint (having lowered the spyglass) looking bemused and exasperated.
