A sleeping doll - but its witch still has business to take care of.

Like paperwork, testing and changing and retiring certain recipes, checking the magical wards on certain lab coats...

Soon, she says to herself, soon.

She works late into the night, repeating those words like a mantra.

It's well past midnight when she notices her doll in the doorway to her laboratory, carrying a blanket and a plushie.

It finds an unassuming, empty corner, sits down, and lays down on the floor.

But the witch can't take her eyes off it. The presence of her darling doll has completely changed the equation.

Unable to take her mind off the doll, she saves her work, sets it aside -

And kneels next to her doll on the floor - which immediately turns to face her, looking at her with bleary eyes.

She picks it up, takes it with her - carries it to bed, and lays down as well.

The doll and witch hug each other tightly, snuggling against each other.

The doll is warm against her chest.

The work can wait.

It’s true. I started calling “the cloud” offsite storage, and the comprehension that dawns in my customers’ eyes is super gratifying. They understand external hard drives, but many couldn’t wrap their heads around this mystical floating in the air storage–because that’s not how it works at all. You’re just using space on someone else’s hard drive.

“Oh ‘the cloud’ is just what they decided to call it. What it actually means is that you use the internet to connect to some dedicated computer somewhere where your file is stored, and then you can access that file, which is why it only works with an internet connection. You’re just renting space on a computer the company owns.”

Suddenly everything is less mysterious.
