Wooh boy! This was like a month of on and off work in my rare spare time. After years of me just whining about comics being hard to draw, I decided to shut up and actually give a hardy attempt for a change. This is my first time doing a comic page and roughly just a test page for when I try doing a proper comic in the future. In case anyone is curious about the prompt, it’s based on an old cross-over fic I made like a decade or so ago involving Tails stumbling across Acme Acres while searching for an emerald. It was kind of bleh in hindsight and I’ve pretty much buried it at this point but it does serve as some good prompts for a comic panel.

The first thing I can say is CONSISTENT LIGHT SOURCE ANGLES IN COMICS ARE A PAIN. I HAVE MUCH RESPECT FOR THOSE WHO CAN KEEP THEM CONSISTENT FROM PANEL TO PANEL. I tried valiantly but I’m sure I eff’ed it up. The light source being behind the characters for a majority of the panels certainly did not help.

Secondly, I’m kind of proud of panel 4. I’ve never really done a drawing from that kind of perspective before and I think it came out surprisingly well, if the grass/path looking a bit weird. Panel 1, however, was me trying a 4-point perspective and ultimately it didn’t really come out as I would have hoped.

Other than that I don’t have much else to comment. I’m quite happy with it, even if it could be better. I’m not sure if I’d be up to remaking this old fic as a comic; I have a few other ideas bouncing around in my head right now. I would rather like to do a fan project again now that things have started to get a bit stable for me again; granted, given the pace I worked at for just this one page, unless I decide to forego shading it’s probably gonna take me a long while.

Les Misér-Toons: Part 3

So back in March, I made a post of Les Mis fan casting featuring toon characters titled ‘Les Misér-Toons’, which was lovingly ripped off from inspired by @rosepower ‘Hamil-Toons’ casting. I guess I liked the idea to the point that I commissioned the wonderful @thetimelimit to draw a three-part imageset of this idea, with several Les Mis characters portrayed by toons. She's worked on these since June and I couldn't thank her enough for all the hard work she's done! I edited in the backgrounds, lighting, etc, so to give off the impression that they're performing onstage.
