💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Amulet of the Platinum Fang Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement) ___

A single fang—said to be from a deific dragon—hangs on this platinum necklace. The tooth itself is cracked but repaired with molten platinum, sealing it together and retaining its inherent magic. You have resistance to radiant damage while wearing this amulet. In addition, whenever a spell restores hit points to you, you also gain 1d6 + 4 temporary hit points.

𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙢 𝘼𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩. While wearing the amulet, you can use an action to call forth an instantaneous, spectral maw of a platinum dragon. Make a melee spell attack with the maw against a target within 15 feet of you, using a +10 spell attack bonus. On a hit, the target takes 2d10 + 10 force damage plus 4d6 radiant damage. Once you’ve used this property, you can’t do so again until the next dawn.

If you’re a dragonborn, you can choose to use this property in place of your breath weapon. When you do, it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest, instead of the next dawn. If you use your normal breath weapon, you can choose for it to deal radiant damage, instead of its normal damage type. ___

idea: a warlock researcher. That's not a researcher of warlocks, but a researcher who is a warlock. At least, that's what they appear to be: They've got a patron and all, and they are able to research things incredibly effectively because their patron is able to find out all kinds of information for them.

But it turns out they're really a chronomancer: Their patron is themselves, in the future (or past, depending on how you look at it).

Their patron doesn't have incredible knowledge: their patron doesn't know anything they didn't spend the time to find out themselves.

But once they finish learning the thing, they send it back in time to their previous self, making it look like they got the answer immediately.

So, like, if you go to them and pay them a dozen gold to develop a reusable genderswap potion recipe, they'll call up their patron and their patron will hand them a scroll with the ingredients on it. Bam, done!

Except what actually happened is that they spent weeks or months studying the problem, scouring libraries, consulting other wizards, getting into swordfights with the God of Gender, and endless experimentation on their poor apprentices. Just when they were done, they sent the results back in time, undoing that branch of the timeline, resulting in the recipe appearing out of nowhere, a grandfather-paradox item with no creation event.

Really, 12 gold is a bargain for how much work they didn't have to do for you.

Nah they just spend a while researching how to get better at researching, developing new methods, and then write that down and send it back to their past self. Problem solved.

Anyway on a brighter note: in Rolemaster the Mystic has a level 50 spell that allows them to create an alternate persona for an indefinite amount of time that is so strong that not only does this persona not have any of the Mystic's memories for all purposes of magical detection and mind-reading it literally is a completely different person and the Mystic's original personality will remain dormant in their subconscious until it awakens after a set time.

And like that spell is so fucking cool and high concept and I absolutely can not imagine how that would be run in practice it's so weird.

I’d feel bad for the new persona. Unless it’s a persona that’s waiting in cold storage for their time in the sun, I’d feel like I’d created a person to be shield and then murdered when I didn’t need them anymore.

I know this is weird, but it’s the kind of stuff I write about, so this post hit a button in a fun way.

Yeah it definitely has some fucked up implications, especially given that the spell explicitly protects you against magical detection. You're literally using magic to create an innocent civilian so the magic cops can't find you and then sending that innocent civilian to live their life in peace until things cool down, only for that civilian to literally just die at some point with no warning as the original persona once again takes charge.

This spell can also be combined with multiple spells from the same list to create a whole new appearance, or even to mimic an already existing person. It's campaign level antagonist stuff.

So am I, because this got my mind gears spinning!

Oh! The spell does have one way to see through it, which is a Mind Probe spell (but even this one is stated as being just a possibility so it's left up to the group), and that raises even more questions. The heroes have tracked down Villain McVillainface who one day just disappeared off the face of the earth and eventually find a regular humble family man living on a farm somewhere. All evidence leads to this actually being McVillainface but having adopted a new persona, but the farmer doesn't know it! Imagine then subjecting said farmer to an extremely invasive spell that not only reads their thoughts but their most deepest subconscious thoughts only to then reveal to them that they're just the body of McVillainface housing an artificial persona.

The heroes now have McVillainface cornered and if they killed the farmer now they would prevent McVillainface from ever coming back to terrorize the world, but would they be justified in doing so?

I'm gonna be thinking of this all day.

💎 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Druidic Shape Charms Wondrous item, very rare (requires attunement by a druid) ___

These small wooden charms are carved in the shape of recognizable creatures. Each one is about three inches tall and can fit into the top of the charm below. If you have multiple charms, they collectively count as a single magic item for the purposes of determining how many items you can attune to.

When found, the creature type associated with the charm is random. Roll a d8 and use the table below to determine what charm you find.

While a charm is on your person, you can use an action to expend two uses of your Wild Shape to transform into a creature other than a beast, following the normal rules for Wild Shape with the following changes. The type of creature you can transform into is determined by the charms you have. The challenge rating of the creature must be no more than half your druid level, rounded down, and the maximum amount of time you can remain transformed is 10 minutes.

Rival: Eseris, Dancer of the Edge

Can you folks hurry up and surrender already? I’ve got a hot date with a smuggler captain and the bastard son of a supernova and that bounty on your heads is going to pay for one hell of a night out.

It’s tough being one of wildspace’s most prestigious bountyhunters: the action, the glory, the riches, the hot alien babes hanging off every word of your latest adventure… but the Eseris persists none the less. Born of a union of between an inspiration seeking painter and the majesty of the cosmos itself, this aasimar duellist now skates about the stars on a torrent of her own light, hunting down outlaws mostly for the thrill of it.

Hooks:

Our heroes first encounter Eseris as part of a random encounter, when their transport is ambushed by a bit of space-faring wildlife that’s decided to take territorial exception to their vessel. While the party is fighting for their life, Eseris spends most of the fight showboating and performing for the other passengers, stepping in to strike the killing blow or if the party REALLY needs help.

Some time later, after the party has earned the ire of some galactic warlord or planetary government, Eseris comes hunting for their bounty. Taking advantage of her ability to fly and the party’s ignorance around strange planear geography, the bountyhunter will attempt to separate them, incapacitating them in ones or twos before finding one last opponent to engage in a duel. While the coin helps speed her along towards finding her opponents, it’s the challenge that serves as Eseris’s primary motivation… and the party might be able to avoid being captured by persuading her that it would be more fun to overthrow whoever it was that put the bounty on them in the first place.

Though a talented swashbuckler in her own right, Eseris’s skills are only bolstered by the aid of a blade that can dance through the air and be controlled like one of her own limbs. Forged from an alloy of starmetal and her own living light, this sword leaves quickly fading after-images with each swing, each of which is just as solid as the original. Should the party be able to get on the bountyhunter’s goodside ( which involves buying her some drinks and making an absolute idiot of themselves), she’ll point them in the direction of where she got it.. a strange celestial operating a forge on a lonely little moon out in the vast night.

This is pretty late in the night to be posting this, but here it is. I think Succubi and Incubi are really interesting monsters to bring into a campaign, but once you get to a certain level they don’t pack much of a punch. So, what if there are more powerfuls one known as an Arch Succubus or Arch Incubus?

Escaping angelic prison

For Regular Prison Security:

You likely got into this horrid mess by committing some grave sin or killing an angel. Repent, even if you don’t want to. The Wardens will know. They only want the best for you.

When meeting the Wardens, or being transported, be on your best behaviour. They will believe you are doing better and have nothing to hide.

Remember to exercise and take care of yourself. The Wardens will provide any necessities and accommodate for medicine, skincare, and self-care products.

Refer to number one. Do this nightly and the Wardens will give you special treatment (yes, they exhibit favoritism quite a bit). Become their favorite.

Give the indoor Warden a bouquet of hydrangeas. They remind her of her wife.

Give the outdoor Warden a soccer ball. It will remind him of when he was human.

Tell them that you have things to do back home and that you would like to shorten your sentence. They will make sure to put it through.

Bid them adieu when you leave. They want to keep in touch. Give them your number if prompted.

When leaving, remind yourself that they cannot put you back in. Thinking it makes it so, as angels are only as powerful as humans make them out to be.

Go home and save the Wardens’ numbers in a leather-back journal. They appreciate it more than you know.

You have just escaped. They were not supposed to shorten your sentence, but there are loopholes.

For Death Row:

Refer to previous 1-4. Repenting and being kind is the best you can hope for here.

Complain to the Death Warden about your living space, saying things along the lines of: ‘Unfit for (species) habitation.’ Whatever you are, this will get their attention and you will be moved to a slightly less guarded room.

There will always be a spork under the bed. Hold it, and you will realize it is not a spork, but a shovel.

There is a hole in the back right corner under four discolored rocks. Remove the discolored rocks, and continue digging the hole.

Do such for a week. You are busy.

They will not see as long as you cover the hole with the discolored rocks. Those rocks are your lifeline.

Once the hole is dug, at the bottom should be a panel.

Remove the panel and slide through the space. You will find yourself in the same area you were arrested, now with a new tattoo.

Said tattoo means you have served your sentence and you are dead. You are not dead, however, and this tattoo will keep them from tracking you.

Avoid contact with any angelic presence (excluding the Devil/Lucifer/whatever you wish to call him) for around two years. They will have forgotten about you by then.

You will not be able to return to the prison under any circumstances. This, likely, is what you were hoping for. Congrats.

*HGK477 will not bail you out. They do not have the funding for that in human souls.

Nine things about being brought back from the dead

You will be cold

You will wake up screaming, you all do.

Your entire body will throb, the pain will eventually subside; being brought back is never a painless task.

Do not get up immediately, you will be nauseous and your body will need time to readjust to this realm.

Ask for more blankets, you will feel very cold.

You will not remember how you died, do not ask.

Do not ask the practitioner how they performed the ritual, this is considered bad luck and you will not last long.

Your loved ones will be ecstatic to have you back, consider this a blessing.

Thank the practitioner and let them be on their way, if they do not look you in the eye consider this a bad omen.

This deck of cards can be used as a standard playing card set. Each card bears one of four types of dragons: black, red, bronze, or silver. The deck is made of 52 cards and comes in a wooden carrying case, which depicts each of the four dragons battling for control over their respective corners. While attuned to the deck, you gain a +3 bonus to any check you make using it as a playing card set. You can use a bonus action to magically shuffle the cards of the deck, tapping either the top of the cards or its box when you do.

You can use each card from the shuffled deck as if it were a magic dart. On a hit, a card deals an extra 1d6 damage to the target of a type depending on its suit. Roll a d8 to determine the card’s suit using the table below, or draw from a real deck of cards to determine the suit instead.

A thrown card magically reappears on the bottom of the card case immediately after the attack. When you score a critical hit using one of the cards, you can roll the bonus acid, cold, fire, or lightning damage dice two additional times and add them to the extra damage of the critical hit. ___
