I simply dream of finding someone and sticking with them for the rest of our lives... not in a "catholic marriage" type of way, more like in a "old gay couple" type of way. the kind of love that is inconditional even when thereâs no institutional support backing 'em up they'll have each other and devote their lives to each others wellbeing and happiness. just true partnership.

i think we should all admit how lonely we are. then we should talk. it will all be okay if we risk being authentic

One thing I did notice quickly, in music, is itâs hard to convince people that youâre not telling your own story. You spend a lot of intellectual energy going, No, no, this is not my story. But then you grow up and you go, Look, if I tell you a story, thereâs a piece of me in it. I have come all the way, full circle, from ânone of my work is autobiographicalâ to really believing that all work is, to some extent, nonfiction. It doesnât matter what youâre writing; youâre telling me something about yourself. I used to find this terrifying, and now I find it kind of comforting. It means down there, at the bottom, at your core, thereâs something thatâs you, and it always tries to make itself known in everything you do.
