just found 3 bolts and a snail shell on da groun
like to play with my things
genuinely the worst set of tags ive ever recieved on a post. wow.
before you burn me at the stake:
YOU HAD SOURCES?!???????
This is so wholesome
Has anyone drawn this as a merman yet?
Tried my best
the old universe wasn't destroyed. it couldn't have been destroyed.
instead, it became the foundation of the new universe, and crowley and aziraphale's love—as one post beautifully put it—were the big bang.
we saw that everyone and everything that vanished turned into stardust, miracles themselves consist of it, or rather it's all about manipulation of matter and energy.
the laws of thermodynamics clearly describe that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed. god created the universe out of herself, everything in existence is an extension of her, meaning that if we combine current particle science with religious theory, we arrive at the higgs field and higgs boson, sometimes (very inaccurately) referred to as the god particle.
without going into detail, it's an explanation as to how certain particles gain mass, because without that process there would be, well, pretty much nothing. no stars, no planets, nothing with mass. just pure energy.
so when god created the first universe, it was a playground for herself out of herself, a source of amusement. she describes it as a game of cards in a dark room with a dealer who smiles all the time; the house ALWAYS wins and the game is rigged from the start.
destroying said universe was always part of the story, six thousand years and that's it. but "destruction" does not mean it gets destroyed in the way many think, it cannot be destroyed. so what does happen? a change of states, transformations from one kind of energy into another, back into literal and metaphorical stardust.
everything the universe was remains, nothing just vanishes and disappears without a trace. the new universe she created is still an extension of her, there's no alternative, but aligning with crowley and aziraphale's request, she does not meddle. she does not turn it into a story, she simply lets it exist, no celestial intervention. real free will, nothing after death, no pain, no punishment.
you could think of celestials and their planes as a specific kind of matter, one which does not come to be in the new universe but was present in the old one. their energy remains. they remain.
changed, yes, and different, but still the same they have always been. their love is real now, it doesn't serve a purpose like it did before, it's about crowley and aziraphale, anthony and asa, two beings who will fall in love with each other in every universe, time after time after time.
nothing ever truly dies.
I now realize why I, and many others, envy the Ghibli girls – because of the one I don't envy: Anna Sasaki (the main character of When Marnie Was There).
In scenes that make us crave the Ghibli "lifestyle", for a lack of a better term, the characters are doing extremely mundane activities – something we, theoretically, could easily integrate into our lives. In fact, most of us already do. The top results on Pinterest for "Ghibli mood" are made up of studying, working, doing chores, eating, cooking or sleeping.
So why do we envy them? Now it's time to go back to Anna Sasaki. The third picture I used of her was in the beginning of the movie as she was drawing. On paper, she's doing a mundane activity in a Ghibli movie. It should count, right? But no one envies her. Because she, as opposed to the other Ghibli girls, isn't occupied by the activity she's performing.
She's occupied with concerns. She's not in the present, but inside her head – as most of us are. The instances where we feel envy are the ones where the characters are in reality, it's as simple as that. They're not thinking about all the other things they need to get done, or how they don't fit in, or about that one awkward moment from 3 years ago. They're doing one singular activity, and that's it. They're trurly at peace.
We envy that.
About GO3
Basically I'm grieving SO hard that didn't know it was possible for fictional characters
Yes I'm fucking GRIEVING but it's not normal to feel the sharp feeling of loneliness, injustice, betrayal, to feel as if a dagger was thrusted into your heart to rip it apart in small little pieces with the force of a nuclear bomb. It's not normal about a fictional character I mean.
Don't get me wrong, we know what we are buying if we are going to see a greek tragedy, a thriller, or a tragic sad love story. We know we will experience catharsis, fear and adrenaline, we will cry over a lost love.
So why am I grieving over GO3?
Because it was not expected! I was expecting a comedy not a tragedy, not a gloomy one of Shakespeare! I was expecting it to be a silly, fun comedy where my two silliest not-at-all-heroes finally get to have their happy ending. I sought HOPE and JOY.
And don't go down on the road where "characters don't get what they want but they get what they need"!
Don't tell me Crowley's story arc is going from "look at you! You're beautiful!" "Not the children, you can't kill children" "you'll go along with Heaven as long a you can" to "we can't change anything" "the game is rigged","there is no free will" (WTF???) "ok let's start fresh new". Is that the right arc? Is this even the same story?
And don't tell me that Aziraphael's arc was from "I wonder if I did the right thing" "they quite like the old children" "there is hope in human kind" "it's ineffable" to "nope, I agree world is rigged" "ineffable not an option anymore because God is a bitch" "we were just characters on her book" (WTF are you talking about? You're pratically denying your 6k+ thousand years of inner grow) "I only want Crowley" (yes we do know you always wanted Crowley, but that's not the point, the point is you both gave up HOPE for your universe and for you two together!)
And again you look me in the eyes and you tell me that he was really meaning what he was saying in the last 15 about Heaven "is the place of light, of good" basically throwing out of the window all the journey he spiritually had from the very beginning.
They were defeated from the very first frame on the screen. They were tired, depressed, incapable of thinking straight.
As if something inside them both broke with that quarrel and that kiss. The kiss was suppose to fuel their love, a promise of an US, it was not meant to break their very core!
This story was GLOOMY and guess who is a gloomy author? Our Sandman man. The-one-we-shall-not-name: NG!
I read Sandman; it's a poetic, epic, gothic, noir, angsty, wonderful, meaninful graphic story. And I absolutely love it (I can't blame the children for the father's sin, can I?).
I came to realize that GO3 is Sandman all over again!
Parallels between GO3 and Sandman from now on, so if you don't wanna read spoilers about Sandman skip it to the VIOLET toward the end.
Morpheus (Sandman) asked for Death (her sister) to take him because he couldn't bear the reality he was living in, he couldn't bear the thing that he did.
He had to do something forbidden in that reality and the Kindly Ones asked him to pay the price.
Who are the Kindly Ones? They are sisters goddess and they persecuted oath-breakers, patricides, matricides, and other violators of divine law.
Beside the obvious different story, are you starting to see a path here?
* Asking for Death
* Breaking the divine law (= act of rebellion, pride or disobedience against the order commanded by God)
* Doing something forbidden
I'll move forward:
The Kindly ones are the Furies. Their attack on Sandman was so severe, that Morpheus was left with only one option in order to save his realm: his own destruction.
And the moment he died another Sandman, Daniel, took his place because the Land of Dreamings cannot disappear without consequences for the entire universe.
And you will think, yes but the Land of Dreamings was still there. Nope. It was reshaped too by the new Sandman. The old world disappeared with Morpheus. Only the archetypes came to life again.
Again, are you seeing a path?
* God asks a price
* Forced choice for the character
* Erasing of the old world
* Creation of a new world
* Archetypes stays (Remember the graffiti walls behind Asa and Anthony?... Yup)
* Character still there but he's a new person
Am I delusional?
The story shifted from a TP universe to a NG universe.
GO3 feels to me a NG's work.
What is now bringing me peace is that I consider GO3 as a fanfic written by a famous guy who got the luck to win the lottery and have it on screen. But it's as valid as any other one of the amazing writers in ao3 because nobody really knows what TP would have written! That book will never exist! We have only one book (and S1, and possibly some bits of S2) that is Canon!
And as bonus point
Whales! Dolphins! Where are my silly babies in this finale? There is no -let's try this thing-but it's a stupid thing-but we'll try it anyway-and that didn't really work out but -whoa! did we accidentally buy enough time for others to make the trick and -yahyyyy-what happened-we won really???-well actually they won-I'm famished let's go eat something- crepes- maybe in a picnic, yes?-you know I love you right?- and ducks need peas... you what?- I love you mostly in the entire universe...and books
I rest my case
Another horrible thing about the finale is that it treats angels and demons as absolutely disposable.
The ending throws a fit about humans not having free will, but what about angels and demons? They are the ones who are technically without free will, who can never step out of line without facing extreme repercussions (Falling, Hellfire/Holy Water, the Book of Life). They are the ones who get erased from existence even when they weren't meant to be (wasn't Armageddon supposed to be about humans alone? Either Hell or Heaven would have won the war, so at least some angels or demons would have lived).
The new version of them thrown into the new universe is little more than a faded copy of the original. They have backstories and belief systems that are too different from the original to be the same people.
This isn't just about Aziraphale and Crowley (and losing them already hurts more than enough), this is about millions of creatures, created by God just as much as humans were, who are treated as being absolutely meaningless, just countless minions without a will of their own, who are better off dead because they cannot be fixed. Except they are not. We have been shown that they are not. Crowley and Aziraphale love each other when they are not meant to. So do Gabriel and Beelzebub. They deserved a chance to be free and choose for themselves, a chance to heal from the hurt of being constantly forced into pre-determined roles, not to be rewritten as humans who had none of those memories. The solution for trauma is healing, not annihilation, and angels and demons all deserved better.
imagine a universe where crowley and aziraphale look at each other, look at god, and say: are those really the only two choices?
it's actually inconceivable to me that they wouldn't ask the question. humanity, the cosmos, the one creature in existence each of them loves more than all of it combined. everything hanging in the delicate cradle of god's good grace. put it back the way it was, or destroy it entirely. you'd certainly ask. why wouldn't they?
it's a fallacy, crowley will say. a false dilemma. you're god. we can ask you for anything.
god just smiles, a thin expression that begins and ends in the corners of her mouth. the devil smiles too, but in the inverse. wordless answers all around.
seriously? that easy? crowley says to aziraphale under his breath, and aziraphale will roll his eyes, buoyant with fondness.
i do believe you're onto something, my dear. it's all in the name, isn't it? aziraphale is thinking of whickber street, a thermos full of the holiest water. dogs learning to balance on their hind legs. understanding dawns like a sunrise. the naming of the thing gives it power.
very good, god might say, but neither of them are listening anymore.
crowley's eyes are the color of sunflowers when he turns away from her, never to look upon her face again. well, what should we call it, then? bertha? jehoshua? free willy 2: the adventure home?
another eye roll, even fonder than the first. they might reach for each other, in this universe, the one that birthed them and all the stars and nebulas, the one that birthed you and me and everyone we've ever known and loved. they might hold hands, or embrace, cheek to cheek, arms sliding around waists. i like to think that they move at the same time. crowley's hands find aziraphale's face, aziraphale's eyes fall to crowley's mouth.
(they kiss, of course. how could they not? it's as immutable as gravity, inevitable as time, but not because of god. that's the beauty of free will; it creates itself. a great wagon, as rumi said. out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. i'd like to think there's a cottage waiting for them there, somewhere in the middle.)
but first—
we've come to a decision, one of them says.
there's a hell of a universe next door, says the other, and you two look ready for retirement.
me when Good Omens 3 hadn't come out yet: "ahh yes i won't watch the last episode of season 2 cuz i know it's gonna be a sad ending, i'll wait for season 3"
i just opened tumblr... (i didn't even know S3 had come out)
i'm thinking of just reading fanfics, rather than watching the show, and considering them cannon👍🏻👍🏻
is Tumblr fame something that just comes randomly or do you work to be Tumblr famous?
I HAD TO WORK FOR IT. DAY AND NIGHT. I HAD TO GRIND FOR THIS VIEW
genuinely just saw someone say transmascs 'transition into the highest form of privilege society allows'. what are we doing here
dam they transition into billionaires????
Yeah as soon as I changed my pronouns on amino when I was 15 I got called by the government and given one trillion dollars. I thought that was common knowledge??
the majority of trans men immediately squander it on alcohol, gambling, and expensive cars because of our intense toxic masculinity/desperate need to do male stereotypes because we’re silly billies who don’t realize we can just be gender non conforming lesbians
so it’s a common misconception
upon changing my pronouns to he/him all of the melanin was sucked out of my body and all of my physical and mental disabilities were cured. I check my bank account and it says one mascutillion dollars deposited directly by jeff bezos
“welcome to the boy’s club,” he said to me with a smile and a wink. thanks big JBeezy
I booked myself in for a massage tomorrow with my physio lady cause my jaw and neck are all locked up from the dentist today and it makes you fill out a little questionnaire to better tell your PT what kind of treatment you need. except when I was filling it in I’d just taken a bunch of pain killers and words were hard but then I logged back in to make sure I’d actually booked it and
Reason for your visit?
What kind(s) of pain are you experiencing?
Special Requests
I shouldn’t be laughing, I feel awful, but I’m just imagining you addressing a person this way.
Don’t feel too bad, my physio lady was pissing herself laughing when I showed up. Everytime she tried to pull up my profile to talk about the appointment she’d devolve into hearty chuckling while apologizing continually for laughing at my expense.
And for anyone wondering she was able to ease a considerable amount of the pain. Even while occasionally breaking out into bouts of barely suppressed giggling.
it is important to have a life outside of being online and whatnot. but also it is about balance. thinking about real things but also fake ones. for your health. Have you thought about that videogame guy’s penis lately
Being a fish in highly oxygenated water must feel so fucking good
I see the waves swirling around the intertidal zone, leaving behind trails of dissolved bubbles and I'm like fuck yeah some blenny in there is just going hnnnggg
What if you were a golden trout in a mountain stream. What if you faced the flow of the water and the swirling bubbles, like crystalline drops, ran against your gills. What if you took the deepest, cleanest, most pure breathes by running in place. Imagine.
You wanna be a fish so bad don't you
Is there space for a 43rd 🥺
how to stay nonchalant and mysterious after losing balance in a public transport and falling on strangers?
The fact that the Blue Spirit is a character from a play and that the mask is also from the play means Zuko was committing vigilante justice in cosplay.
Catch me busting someone out of a federal prison while dressed as the phantom of the opera
Even better, according to the wiki, the blue spirit mask belongs to a character called the Dark Water Spirit, which is a trickster spirit that turned a dragon into a human.
Of course, the best part is that the name is Dark Water Spirit, and he doesn’t fire bend, but does this:
So that’s extra points for the commit crimes in cosplay column.
