Please check out @inquisitorhotpantsās awesome post regarding the Imperial calendar HERE since thatās what Iāll be basing the dates off of. I wonāt be going into the holidays and week long galas since theyāre on that post I linked.
(Also keep in mind that itās Day, Month, Year. But weāll just be working with days and months.)
34, 1: Parentsā Day
35, 1: Childrenās Day
Family units are considered important to Imperial culture since families are seen as the building blocks that make up society. Children represent the future of the Empire while the parents are the current keepers and servants. (āParentsā and āfamily unitsā in this case have a very broad and open meaning and do not fall into any standard set.) A day is spent to celebrate both parents and the children with gifts and cards being given.
4-2: Loversā Day
Like most societies made primarily up of humans, the bond between lovers and partners are seen as a desirable thing to have in oneās life. Couples or groups of lovers will often partake in whatever activities they enjoy.
Giving exchanging chocolates have become a standard practice for this day, usually in the shape of dikana for the Sith.
5 and 6th week of 2: Ancestral Pilgrimage
Even before Korriban was reclaimed by the Empire, the Sith (particularly the purebloods) would take 10 days to visit family tombs, crypts, and other ancient sites on various Imperial worlds to honor their ancestors. These days most have just included Korriban on the list of planets to visit.
This holiday is seen as an important time for Sith coming from old and notable families while others might not even celebrate it. There is usually a small family shrine to burn incense or candles in these places which is meant to keep the memories and honor of the ancestors alive.
First weekend of 3: The Night Hunt
This two-day event started out as a Sith holiday, but has been adopted by many Imperials as well. Before a Sith, or even a common soldier, learns to kill a sentient being they kill a fearsome beast first. Days or weeks are are spent in advance to plan out and gather the right materials for the hunt. Not every hunt is successful and fatalities occur, though those numbers are seen as minimal and āweeding out the weakā by Sith standards.
The jungles of Dromund Kaas provide for excellent hunting ground with itās unforgiving terrain and hostile wildlife. Typical animals that are hunted during this time are gundarks, vine cats, jurgorans, and yozusks.
25, 3: Bloom Feast
Every year the flowers on Dromund Kaas bloom in full, beautiful colors but only for a short time. Presumably from the constant cloud coverage most the planet is engulfed in.
The flowers may be fleeting, but they are taken as symbols of abundance. Thus the whole day is spent eating rich, savory foods with friends and family as flowers decorate every aspect of imperial life. (Especially on the dining tables)
A common sentiment expressed during this time is that āthe Garden District has infected the rest of the planetā.
1, 4: Fruit Fest
A holiday that originates from Ziost but has been incorporated to Imperial life on Dromund Kaas and other Imperial worlds. Every Ziost year, on the first day of fall, the fruits are ready for harvest, processing and distribution.
On Ziost, the people would dress in their regional outfits while eating and drinking the years harvest in the form of pastries, pies, wine, and ciders. Itās mostly seen as an excuse to indulge in desserts and fruity alcohol while celebrating with friends and family.
12, 4 through 20, 5: Festival of Flames
This Sith holiday lasts over a week and features a spectacle of lights in the form of lamps, candles, braziers and torches being lit up in, on and around the buildings. The festival celebrates a core foundation of Sith philosophy: Passion.
The flames represent and pay homage to the old Sith goddess Bashara who was a highly important deity. Altered by Sith alchemy, a lot of the flames burn in varying colors such as purple, green, and black.
During this time the Sith will dress in new, fancy clothes to gather with their kin and exchange gifts while dining on fine food. There will often times be periods of contemplation/meditation upon the Sith code throughout the festival.
23, 5: Day of Dread
During this holiday skulls, typically small animal skulls, are hung from the doorways of rooms. These skulls serve as a reminder of oneās own mortality and the inevitability of death. Although for most Sith, they look upon this symbol as a challenge to preserve their life through whatever means.
27, 4 through 35, 5: Motherās Memory
This 44 day long holiday is rarely observed in the modern age. But those that still partake in it are purebloods from old, noble families. There are also variations on how one partakes in this ritual as well.
Some fast for the whole 44 days, eating only small amounts of fruit in the morning and drinking once at night. Others will go through a more strenuous form of the ritual which includes not only a fast but complete seclusion as well.
Regardless of the difference during this period, the day after is spent feasting on a freshly slaughtered strox. (Usually picked, chosen and bought for slaughter a few days prior.)
As the name suggests, the whole ordeal is meant to honor the Great Mother. Although it is not as popular as it once was, there was a time in Sith history where participation of this holiday was considered mandatory. The only exceptions being for children and pregnant or nursing individuals. Ā Ā
18-6, Remembrance Day
A somber holiday, the Imperials spend this day remember their fallen comrades. Many will make way to gravesites or memorials of their friends and family.
30-6, Tidal Observance
Near the end of the 6th month, the coastlines around Dromund Kaas experience a surge in tidal waves. People head out to the coasts to partake in extreme water sports during the windy storms. (Windier than usual by Dromund Kaas standards)
6 to 8, 7: Enlightenment
These two days are the last days of a typical educational year for Imperials and Sith alike. The Empire is rather stringent with schedules and especially their educational systems. But on these days students can go out and have fun after a year of studies and training before starting up the next year of studies on 1, 8.
Last 2 weeks of 7: Winter Reign
Although Life Day has quickly gained popularity with Imperial society ever sense the resurgence of the Empire into the greater galaxy, Winter Reign remains popular with the Sith. Two weeks of gift exchanging, feasting, and outlandish old folktales regarding the Winter Lord and his minions make it a festive time for the Sith.
29-30, 8: Ceremony of Adulthood
On these two days every Sith, usually purebloods, that has turned 20 in the year (or will by the end of the year) partake in an elaborate ceremony to celebrate their coming of age.
The young Sith dress in ornate, traditional outfits and are blessed by the older members of the family over a cup of tea. The older family members typically give gifts, mostly in the form of funds, ships, etc. while giving āwisdomā and advice.
This is also the time the Sith gather to arrange matches between the families.Ā
35, 8: New Yearās Eve
Celebrating the dawn of a new year, the night before is filled with a lot of parties, drinking, and fireworks.
