In the manga, we can see the development that Sailor Moon has had as a Sailor Guardian for the past two story arcs. Sailor Moon has experience doing this, and as soon as she sees her future daughter in danger, she rushes to her aid and destroys the Daimon.

In Crystal? Oh, boy.

You know, I could deal with dragging out this battle because there was literally nothing else from Act 27 to put or expand on, and too much from Act 28 to put in and still make a well-structured episode that didn’t end in the middle of a scene or something.

It was perfectly fine to bring in the girls and make me sit through like 5 minutes of transformations and introduction speeches, and even have them all attack because it would have established that this Daimon is specially powerful and needs Sailor Moon to finish him, but would it have been too much to ask not to sacrifice Sailor Moon’s development as a character in the process? And did we have to trade that for a 90s-esque Super Wacky ‘Funny’ Sequence?

I wonder if it was too much of a stretch to have Usagi and Chibi-Usa run a little further away from Hotaru. I mean, they were running because they wanted to transform and fight the Daimon and not reveal their identity to Hotaru, right? Would it have been too crazy for them to meet the girls, them being in the middle of the way to there, in like a park and have all the transformation sequences and speeches there?

That could’ve sucked up some screentime, I think. But instead we get 90s Sailor Moon who can’t fight a simple monster no matter how long she’s been doing it, we get 90s Moon who never acts on her own, we get 90s Moon who needs to be told when to attack.

Well, I don’t like it. I’ve been watching and enjoying this show for two seasons and I have not missed 90s Moon one bit. She’s not necessary here, Crystal Moon used to be good at being a Guardian, but appearantly and for the sake of comedy, even 90s Anime fanservicing if you will, she must stumble around before she actually gets to doing her job, and even then she can’t do it on her own.

It’s not funny, again, she hasn’t been like this for the majority of the show. It’s out of character, and in my opinion it’s lazy writing. It alludes to the 90s Anime just because it can and it will be praised by the majority no matter what the character has been like in this one aspect for pretty much the entire show.
