let's be alone together
"So... when I used to do it, it was called...?"
"You could try 'unsolicited soul-relocation services'?" Bakura snorted at the thought.
"It’s not 'murder' if I sent someone to the Shadow Realm; I prefer to call it 'aggressive spiritual relocation'~"
"...I have a washer and dryer at home as well as stain remover, it's no big deal."
That....Wasn't even remotely the issue here. But it seemed Ryou genuinely couldn't have cared less about any of it.
"Besides, I have a nice new knife for the kitchen now, my old one is too dull and I needed a new one anyway so. Now I don't have to pay for a new one."
"I...." Bakura opened his mouth to say something, then promptly closed it before attempting again.
Finally, he gave up on that train of thought and sighed. "You worry me sometimes, Ryou."
"Well life's not exciting without the promise of death! Especially when you get to jump out of a plane, doesn't that sound fun?"
He's...A little fucked up. But it's fine, everything's fine--.
"Please tell me this is just some bizarre roundabout way of tormenting me for your vengeance. Otherwise, I am very concerned."
"You know what sounds really fun right now? Going skydiving. Without a parachute."
"............"
Bakura just stared long and hard at his former landlord. "....I worry about you sometimes."

OOC: Thank you for the anon! I suppose I'm proud of being able to manage work despite dealing with chronic pain. Any small accomplishment I can manage to do means a lot. It's a large part of why I've been inactive on my blogs lately.
Herniated disks and sciatic nerve pain aren't fun. Still, I'm doing my best, and I'm not going to beat myself up on things I can't do at the moment.
"...when I find whose responsible for this idea, I'm going to rip out their entrails."
"It could have happened because Pegasus wanted to spite Kaiba. Or vice versa."
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure the only thing Pegasus managed to do was stroke Kaiba's ego."
"How the hell did Kaibaman come to exist? Did Kaiba bribe Pegasus to make that card?"
Having a second chance…or was it third? It was too confusing. Having a third chance at life was usually something anyone would jump at. Happy to be able to do all the things they hadn’t before they passed on.
Atem refused to do any of that until he knew why he had returned to the realm of the living. It was too risky to alert his friends to his new, very much alive status ic it was only going to be torn from his grasp once again as soon as the gods considered him to be of no use.
So he sat. Mostly at home. If he were to run into Yugi or any of their mutual friends that would be horrible to say the least. He had found that Kaiba made a game you could play online called Duel Links and settled in quite happily.
It was nice to not have his reputation proceed him for once. He wasn’t King of Games. He was simply magicianbutler. Which Atem considered an accurate description of his life.
There was one opponent that he had decided only recently was by far his favorite. Red_Fiend was an exhilarating opponent who almost beat him on more than one occasion.
After finishing up his tasks and playing a few duels Atem prepared to sign off as he usually did, when a bubble popped up for a friend request. Thus far in order to keep his identity safe, he’s denied them all of them, but Red_Fiend was so damn interesting, Atem was hitting the accepted button before he even knew what he was doing.
Magicianbutler: hi
Honestly, Bakura wasn't sure if his impulse action was gonna bite him in the ass later, but most of him didn't care at the moment. He wanted to know more about this person he couldn't yet defeat.
He was surprisingly relieved when the duelist had accepted his request though now came a new challenge...
...small talk.
He thought to himself for a few moments before texting back.
Red_Fiend: hi. your last combo move was ridiculous but interesting. you really like your magicians, huh?
Bakura wasn't sure what to do with his life after he was forcefully revived. What exactly was a freshly christened mortal man supposed to do with himself after spending three-thousand years as a ghost hunting down someone else for revenge? What was he was supposed to do without access to his heka or shadow magick?
So far, it was a lot of wandering around aimlessly and driving his former host up the wall. Thankfully, Ryou had decided to let him stay at his place for the time being so he wasn't homeless, but it wasn't like the younger man was on good terms with him yet either.
Ryou told him to find something to do so he wasn't moping around all day. Somehow, it led him to Kaiba's newly released mobile phone game called "Duel Links."
At first, he thought it was a stupid waste of time. It wasn't like he'd find any real competition on the damn game. At least, that's what he assumed. But soon, he found himself surprised at some of the opponents he would find in the PvP area of the game.
There was one opponent in particular who he'd managed to face off against multiple times and could never defeat him. It should've pissed him off--and well, it sure as hell did piss him off--but more than anything, it gave him a thrill he hadn't experienced since he'd last faced off against a certain nameless bastard. There was something about the way the stranger dueled that intrigued him, and eventually, he did the unthinkable straight after a match.
After a few presses on the screen, the stranger would be sent an invite:
Red_Fiend has sent you a friend request.
@duelingdestiny
"..."
"All of you are fucked up."
"Oh yes, because you're the patron saint of sanity~" That was heavy sarcasm, by the way.
"Meh, I've survived worse. When you've been stabbed as many times as I have, you develop a high pain tolerance. This is just another typical day for me."
Was that response accompanied by a casual shrug? Yes, absolutely it was. He was completely unbothered by this whole thing it seemed.
"You're aware that if the moron had stabbed you in your vital organs, you could've bled out and died, right?"
Bakura squinted at Ryou as if the younger man had suddenly sprouted a second head. "Gods, at least have the decency to look more annoyed than that. The asshole got blood all over your shirt."
"I just watched my former landlord get stabbed in the shoulder and he barely even flinched. I don't know if I should feel proud or disturbed by this..."
