Flay Alister from Gundam SEED is a character who, pushed by prejudice and grief, manipulated her fiance, his friends, and the main character of the series into joining the military to get revenge for her father's death. In the process, she destroyed her relationships with everyone around her, pushed both Sai and Kira away with her actions, and used her sexuality as a weapon because she quite sincerely didn't think she had anything else to fight with. As she eventually came to understand her hatred was misguided and toxic, she ends up being kidnapped by the main villain of the series, and when she is finally free to walk away from the conflict, she chooses instead to return to the frontlines, both to reunite with the people she wronged so that she can face their judgement of her, and to see with her own eyes the results of the hatred she had fostered for so long.

Her death before she is able to actually apologize and try to make amends is an explicit tragedy, but it gets treated as a joke by too many fans. Over the years she's become a more appreciated character, but she still gets a lot of hatred for her mistakes without any acknowledgement of the effort she was putting in to try atoning for them. She's probably one of the most mistreated characters in the Gundam franchise historically, alongside Cima Garahau and Relena Darlian. Thankfully all three of them have gotten more love as time has gone by and people have bothered to actually understand the story being told about them.

Note: I'm operating from the perspective of being a long time fan of Gundam in the US, so these characters may have been more or less appreciated historically by Japanese fans or international fans. Just going from personal recollection here.

the average human lifespan globally is 70+ years

taking the threshold of adulthood as 18, you are likely to spend at least 52 years as a fully grown adult

at the age of 30 you have lived less than one quarter of your adult life (12/52 years)

'middle age' is typically considered to be between 45-65

it is extremely common to switch careers, start new relationships, emigrate, go to college for the first or second time, or make other life-changing decisions in middle age

it's wild that I even have to spell it out, but older adults (60+) still have social lives and hobbies and interests.

you can still date when you get old. you can still fuck. you can still learn new skills, be fashionable, be competitive. you can still gossip, you can still travel, you can still read. you can still transition. you can still come out.

young doesn't mean peaked. you're inexperienced in your 20s! you're still learning and practicing! you're developing social skills and muscle memory that will last decades!

there are a million things to do in the world, and they don't vanish overnight because an imaginary number gets too big
