yeah so .... i’m not sure. i’ve seen some theories about it being the firefighting but it feels a little more weighted than that to me?

like, the guy is older than a lot of the people on the train, he’s holding a briefcase (money???????), and the clip plays right after the lyrics that are associated heavily with addiction/failure on the bridge.

also, right after michael looks away from him, one direction gets on the train (5sos’s first big break into the music industry).

so i honestly think that considering the briefcase, the lyrics, and one direction appearing immediately afterwards, launching their careers, it could be about how 5sos almost made some bad deals, trusted the wrong people, almost made some serious mistakes that would have cost them early on, although i can’t think of anything specific. the guy burns because those deals are kind of like deals with the devil that would have destroyed 5sos and/or people involved.

Brother, how u feel about how easier sounds? I love all the individual instruments and how u can hear them all separately but they still mesh together so well ugh and also Charlie Puth influence is a BIG YES

okay so heres the stitch?? i feel GOOD. 

first of all the charlie puth influence is rly strong not just in the production (AND ITS DEF IN THE PRODUCTION) but also in the vocals??? i wasn’t expecting to hear that much of him but im really really happy that its so clear.

and second to what u said about the instruments,, i feel like its gonna be like youngblood where in the studio version the instruments are very clean, very clear, you can hear everyone separately, and then when they play it live it just knocks ur wig clean off ur head. honestly, whether or not you like old 5sos or new 5sos sonically, u HAVE to admit the production has gone up about 17 levels.
