I don’t think we in the twst community have fully discussed how fucking HORRIFYING Ortho’s backstory is. Like we don’t think about it because Idia was the main focus and it’s like not really talked about after Book 6. But like imagine being only five, FIVE years old and just wanting to go on an adventure with your brother, only for you to suddenly be brutalized by what is essentially a demon and literally dragged down into hell, most likely screaming and crying for your family who could do nothing to help you without dying too. And when you inevitably die, you STILL can’t pass on and you have to stay in that cold pit where there’s only despair and you physically can’t go see your family even though you’re only separated from them by a gate. And you just grow and fester in your sadness and rage hoping to be released and see your brother to let him know it’s not his fault you died.

Little Nightmares 3 theory because Monster Baby makes me so maternal.

So, Monster Baby seems to be all alone in Necropolis. But I don’t think she always was.

Throughout the chapter, we see various giant baby items scattered throughout the city: a rattle, a teething ring, etc. Those obviously didn’t just show up out of nowhere. Those were made for her, and who else would’ve done it but her parent? I think MB lived in Necropolis with her mother, until humans began moving into the city and were scared of these giants. They killed MB’s mom out of fear of being killed, but she didn’t use her petrification because she didn’t want to harm anyone. And after mom died, they turned to MB, which scared the baby and she used her power to turn them to stone to protect herself. And since she doesn’t have the capacity for intelligence yet, she kept using it on anything that moved because in her little mind small things that moved were dangerous and making them stone would stop them moving. Now she wanders the city looking for her mama because she probably doesn’t fully understand where she went.
