Indi: I definitely wouldn't say no... I've been eying the cattle from my bedroom window for an hour, I should probably eat.
Indi: That's my boy.
Duke: I'll make you a steak. Doubt even you could get away without eating a cow or three.

Indi: I think the only thing I need right now is venison. And a lot of it.
Indi: I'll keep the secret as long as you help sneak me outta bed once Kinsey decides I have to be house bound.
Duke: Can make you a steak if you like.
Duke: Sounds like a deal, Indi.

Duke: Lemme know if you need anything, Indi. Got nothing to do other than mend fences n other shit.

You + Me | Duke + Gabe
The silence that hung in the air told Gabrielle that Duke wanted to say something, and the further silence only enforced that he had elected not to speak up with what he had to say. Rubbing the back of her neck, Gabrielle grazed her fingers against the backs of her ears, stroking the tuft of fur for a moment before letting her hand drop back into her lap. Reaching over with her opposite hand, Gabrielle picked up her beer and took a swig. At the mention of a storm, Gabrielle stopped herself from looking up at the sky, as she knew that wasn’t what he was referring to. As he leaned against her, Gabe rolled her eyes and refrained from leaning forward so that he would fall backwards. “Yeah? That make you a lazy piece of work then?”
"Makes me a genius," he smirked, head cocking back slightly to catch a glimpse of her face. Walking his feet up the post, he leaned back against the blonde in silence, eyes drifting shut and body relaxing once more. Being around Gabe calmed him down. She made everything seem still, made it everything still in a good way. He needed that, needed her. Content to sit there in silence, Duke allowed himself a few seconds more of relaxation before readying himself for her to move and let him fall against the porch. He didn't doubt that she would do it. She had done it before, multiple times."You don't smell so much like fake citrus now, just so you know."

"This’ll all be over soon." Gabrielle assured him, giving him a small smile before setting her beer down. Gabrielle matched Duke’s gaze, and she found that a dead bee had landed on the porch right in front of her. Flicking it away with her foot, Gabrielle gathered her legs up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. Nestling it into the crevice between the two legs, Gabrielle tilted her head and watched the clouds pass by for a moment. "Yeah, I know what you mean." Gabrielle was the same she hated it when it was quiet, and she hated it even more when it meant she was cooped up.
Duke bit down on the cynical reply that threatened to come out. She was only trying to comfort him and make him feel better. Licking his lips, Duke just nodded while watching her from the corner of his eyes instead. "Feels like one of those big storms when they're buildin' up. A lil' bit like Katrina did." Chewing briefly on the inside of his lip, the werewolf shook his head and began twisting his body around, back going towards Gabrielle. He only stayed like that for a minute before he allowed himself to sprawl back against her, grin quirking his mouth. "Should make you into a chair, Fowler. Could be your second job. Personal chair."

When Duke kissed her shoulder, Gabrielle leaned into him slightly. With all that was going on, Gabrielle couldn’t stomach being away from him for too long. Hell, she couldn’t stomach even being at work, as she was constantly worrying about not only Duke, but the pack as well. It grew quiet, which let Gabe focus entirely on the sound of the chirping bugs in the distance. Letting her eyelids flutter to a close, Gabrielle didn’t re-open them until Duke spoke aloud. “You could say that.” The blonde looked over at him and took another swig of her beer, happy to have the liquid grazing her tongue and running down her throat instead of down the front of her shirt. “How ‘bout you? You tired of fixin’ fences yet?”
"Think I might go insane." It was all that he really needed to say for Gabe to know how he was feeling. She knew him better than the others. He didn't like being penned up, even if he had some freedoms on Woodmere's land. He didn't like being unable to roam and wander around town. That all came from his father's influence, what little influence the man had on Duke. Shifting slightly, Duke let his legs stretch out as his gaze settled to the ground before him. "Nuthin' to worry 'bout, really. Just a lil' bit restless..." With a roll of his shoulders, the werewolf straightened back up. "Hate the fuckin' quiet, even when it's not quiet, you know?"

Cicadas chirped in the distance, reminding Gabrielle that winter was nearly over. They were early this year, but Gabrielle was welcoming of the sound. It reminded her that no matter where she was, she’d have a little piece of home with her. As if Duke weren’t enough, the cicadas brought back memories from the nights she had spent out in the fields with her mother. Letting out a breath, Gabrielle scraped her hair back and out of her face. Holding a fistful of blonde hair at the back of her head for a moment, Gabrielle let the strands fall from between her fingers as the door opened. Twisting around, even though she didn’t need to in order to know who it was, Gabrielle smiled. “Dunno. Which one’s worse?” Gabrielle asked, taking the beer from him. Opening it with her teeth, like she always did, the blonde took a swig after setting the cap down next to her.
"Knowin' you? Either could be dangerous," Duke smirked cheekily, before dipping his head to press his lips against her shoulder. Pulling away as she opened her beer, he did the same with his own though he used his hand to pry it off instead of his teeth. Even then, he didn't drink from it automatically, just let it hang from his fingers as his gaze flicked up to the dark sky overhead. He stared for several long seconds, hardly blinking and barely moving, until he snapped his attention back to Gabe. "Tired of being cooped up inside?" he asked, finally bringing the bottle to his mouth.
You + Me | Duke + Gabe
Running a hand through his damp hair, Duke tugged the t-shirt over his head as he came out of the bathroom. The 'wolf's bare feet shuffled softly across the wood flooring as he paused to peer into Gabe's room. It was empty. A frown crossed his face briefly as he tried to remember if she had work that night, but he couldn't recall her mentioning it. With a grunt, he headed down into the kitchen, only pausing once he caught a whiff of the blonde 'wolf. Feeling himself relax, Duke grabbed a beer for Gabe and one for himself before slipping out onto the front porch. "Thinkin' hard or hardly thinkin'?" he asked as he lowered himself to sit beside her, extending the first beer to her as he did so.
So much excitement.
I can tell. You look like you’re about bursting at the seams.
Could be a catastrophic eruption when it blows out of me.
So much excitement.
Oh, that’s what that was.
Guessing so, generally my natural response.
