The DIFFERENCE between Harumi and Morro
And more on the misogyny + misunderstandings I frequently see regarding the two
Something that I often see is people saying that the fandom hates Harumi but loves Morro because of misogyny. While, yes, some people might, flat out comparing the two doesn't make the argument very accurate
The similarities with them as antagonists are that they both have a personal grudge against Lloyd, and use him in a way to get payback - and that they have somewhat of a "redemption" (I wouldn't personally call it a redemption arc by any means)
For Morro, he literally uses Lloyd's body to get what he wants; he possesses Lloyd and tries to complete his goal.
For Harumi, she manipulates Lloyd into giving her access to the payback she wants, and uses Lloyd to complete her goal.
The reason I think they aren't very similar is because, yes they both use Lloyd and show good at the end of their arc, but neither of them do anything similar and not many people seem to grasp that
-Morro hated the Green Ninja for who he was, Harumi hated the Green Ninja for what he did
-Morro used him as a literal vessel for his goal, Harumi manipulated him for her goal
-Morro showed that he wanted to help the NINJA at the end of his arc, Harumi showed that she REGRETTED her own actions
In my opinion, Harumi was a worse villain because she was manipulative instead of the usual brute force with villains in Ninjago, and comparing her with Morro undermines both of their characters (Morro's by implying he wasn't acting out of spite/anger, which was important to him showing good; Harumi's by implying she only hated Lloyd and that was her one defining character trait)
I do agree that a lot of the time people are unjustified with hating Harumi (likely due to misogyny) but to say "you still like Morro!" isn't a fair argument, since she is objectively worse as a villain.
More on Harumi, I think people say her redemption was rushed which is like????? As an avid redemption arc enjoyer she did, in fact, NOT have a redemption arc. She had a moment which was meant to show the viewers a switch in her morals/realisation to what she was doing, and make us feel somewhat bad for her and understand her character more - and she did a good act to present it, but she never made up for people she'd hurt, she just showed that she wanted to (whether that be towards Lloyd or not) - And the same goes for Morro, really. He had no redemption arc, just moments that showed he had overcome what was making him act villainous, but again, he never fully made up for what he'd done.
To keep in mind, this is coming from someone who has JUST finished season 9, so I could be wrong about some things (things also might be worded badly at some parts of this lol)
But yeah that's my opinion
TLDR: comparing Morro and Harumi isn't fair, Harumi hate is deserved but the extent at which it's given is misogynistic, and at the end of the day it's a kids lego tv show
