See I have this condition called "having any kind of upward mobility in my country is very hard without an english proficiency level of at least B2", I wish it wasn't this way but it's an affliction that sadly affects millions of people in most non-anglo countries in the world.

All public universities in my country admit and reject people based on their score on a national standardized test, which features an English module that's worth 1/5 of your final score. This makes not having at least a basic level of English proficiency a major barrier for accessing higher education but yeah, I could have "just... not learned your language" I guess, yeah.

I am pro-accredited aquariums and zoos. My posts critiquing the animal rights movement are blowing up right now and I just want to come out and say definitively that I appreciate zoos and aquariums allowing the public to view wild animals without potentially disturbing them in their natural habitat or resorting to the illegal exotic pet trade. It is valuable for conservation purposes and many aquariums/zoos take unreleasable wildlife and host breeding programs for endangered species. They are not just institutions for human amusement, they are integral to maintaining public interest and studying the ecology and biology of the animals contained within.

All the steps of learning a language are easy but the problem is you have to do it over and over and over again and over again and over again and your brain needs time to process and you never quite stop feeling like you’re a bit stupid and you can do it you know you can because everyone can do it eventually but merciful god above, does it take a long time and there’s no true endpoint really because the kicker is that you’re never done learning your native language either so there’s no end point there’s just living until you die.
