No bc they really killed off Shannon for no reason at all and it makes me mad to this day.

Eddie could have had an arc of him navigating his divorce, struggling financially to do so, and potentially losing custody of Chris. I feel like his journey could have been a lot more linear this way. They really didn’t let him grieve her for more than an episode which is insane work and an example of how so many of his storylines are under explored in canon.

Keeping Shannon in the show, even if she wasn’t in the main cast would have also added another complex female character to the cast that is very much male dominated. Of Eddie’s love interests, she was the most developed and I would have like to see more of her on her own accord and not through Eddie’s perspective.

Having her in the show would literally give them an out whenever Chris couldn’t be in a scene because he’s a child actor, in school, etc… But instead they saw an opportunity to fridge a woman for a man’s development and ran.

Just got a great fic idea for when Buck and Eddie were living together before Buck found his new place. Buck comes home one day with a girl who doesn’t know he’s bi. He doesn’t want her thinking anything of his current living situation, so when he comes through the door he shows her the bathroom before returning to where Eddie’s at in the living room.

Much like Jess in new girl telling nick, Buck goes “Eddie, you’re gay. You’re gay. Be gay.”

And Eddie is just like ??? “Does she not know you’re bi?”

And Buck just looks at him because that is not the point– the point is he likes this girl and wants her to like Eddie, too. But she thinks he’s gay, so…

“Okay, fine! Fine. I’m gay,” Eddie relents, munching on some baked good that Buck has made him.

Better, if Buck is making dinner and the girl is taking to Eddie. Unlike in new girl, she doesn’t question whether or not Eddie is gay. Instead, she notices things around the home that scream “Buck and Eddie are a couple” and so she outright asks Eddie about it.

“So, like, you’re into him, right?” She asks, and Eddie just fucking blinks.

I don’t want to write too much here, because I absolutely could, but! Hopefully you like this idea.
