Benji just laughed, shaking his head softly, deciding against trying to argue with Bryce on this particular point, knowing it wouldn’t get him anywhere. “Oh, you’re right, I’m not super boring,” he agreed with a curt nod. Frowning, his eyebrows furrowed. “I lack creativity because I don’t want ice in my bed?” he questioned. 

“No, thankfully not,” Bryce said willing to agree on at least that much. He gave a small frown at Ben’s answer, “I thought you meant because you thought you couldn’t do anything without the use of one hand, but are you really that opposed to water on your bed?” Bryce asked still slightly wanting Benji to go off and get himself ice but also uninterested in staying 5 ft away from the other.

“Has anyone ever told you that you have an unreasonably high view of yourself?” Benji questioned, eyebrows raised. “What’s the opposite of who I am?” he asked, truly curious about Bryce’s opinion. He wasn’t sure they had spent enough time talking for Bryce to really know anything about him. “Of course you weren’t hurt. Your heart is made of ice, that’s the whole joke,” Ben continued with an eyeroll, not at all affected by Bryce’s dismissal of his joke. “Fine, I’ll get some ice,” he said, getting up. “And render my hand useless for the next half hour, which might make your presence here a little less necessary.” 

“I’ve been told that by plenty people who’ve underestimated my value, yes,” Bryce responded. “A prim and proper person, Ben,” Bryce said rolling his eyes as he leaned back in the bed before taking off his shoes. “That just makes you sound like you lack creativity,” Bryce told.

Ben put on a faux pout at Bryce’s statement, but he couldn’t hide the little light shining behind his eyes at the continued banter. “I’d just find someone else to pay attention to me,” he countered with a shrug. “That’s the deal right?” he raised his eyebrows at the other. “I could just hold it real close to your heart, I’m sure that would keep it nice and cool,” he countered with a smirk. 

“Not of the same caliber,” Bryce responded quickly without an ounce of doubt in his voice. “That’s the opposite of who you are,” Bryce informed. “Wow, that hurt me so much,” Bryce deadpanned. “But seriously that shit’s going to swell,” Bryce reiterated.

“Oh, that’s what keeps you from getting into fights,” he chuckled, not really believing the statement from the other boy. “Thank God!” Ben exclaimed, looking up at the ceiling before letting out another chuckle. He shrugged slightly. “They’re not the kind of words civilized people say so I’ve decided not to repeat them.”

Bryce just shook his head seeing Ben clearly wasn’t getting what he was saying. “You’d hate it if I stopped paying attention to you,” Bryce said deciding to walk away and take a seat on the bed. “Because you’re such a prim and proper person, you gonna put ice on that?” Bryce asked his head cocking toward the other’s hand.

“Some people think guys with black eyes are hot,” Ben countered with a smirk. He raised his eyebrows at the other boy’s mumbled statement. “Will you stop associating with me when I’m no longer young and beautiful?” he questioned with a toothy grin, honestly amused by Bryce’s concern. “Someone used some choice words with me I didn’t appreciate,” Ben shrugged, not really wanting to get into the more serious topic now. 

“Which is exactly why it’s not what keeps me from getting into fights myself,” Bryce nodded not interested in giving into Ben in this particular moment. “You can basically count on that,” Bryce assured. “Some choice words,” Bryce chuckled amused by the choice of words Ben himself chose to use.

“Exactly what I meant,” Ben responded with a little roll of his eyes. He flinched slightly when Bryce got closer, a little surprised over the gesture if he was being honest. “But you’re interested in how I look?” he teased, an awkward attempt at moving the conversation into more familiar territory. 

“Not getting a black eye isn’t why I don’t though,” Bryce responded not caring much about the remark. “Something like that,” he mumbled letting his hand fall back down after a moment. “So what got you to loose all common sense?” he asked.

“Right, I forgot the most important thing in life is protecting your pretty face,” Ben jabbed with a tone of sarcasm, rolling his eyes at the other boy. “You should see the other guy,” he responded with a chuckle.

“My pretty face is fine considering I don’t get into fights,” Bryce told his hand coming up to inspect Ben’s face. “Not interested in how he looks,” Bryce said clearly more interested in Ben’s injuries.

Ben hardly looked up when the other boy entered into the room, and instead just continued to wrap his bloody knuckles. “Got in a fight,” he said vaguely with a slight shrug. “Pretty sexy, huh,” he continued suggestively, raising his eyebrows at the other boy.

“I’d say pretty dumb,” Bryce said though he did get closer to look at it. “You fine?”

She looked at the part of the wall he had been looking at for a quick second before looking back at him rolling her eyes. “Well you’re not a bad person, Stiles, and if you’ve really got nothing better to do with your life I hope you know I’m expecting you to show up at this park clean up. You also happen to be taller than me though so I guess you could be helpful. Here,” she said handing over the poster she was trying to hang up to the boy.
