Is it just me, or is even the Russian fandom no longer putting up with Remy?

I saw somewhere on Reddit that she took an indefinite break(Hiatus) from Song of the Crimson Nile .

I know Remy has thousands of problems, but personally I think she should have thought twice before taking the lead and writing two books at the same time.

I don't even know what the process is like for writing a single book, but it certainly can't be a bed of roses, as RC makes it seem.

It’s not just about the racism, fatphobia, and other issues (those alone weren’t enough to turn people away). Rather, fans feel she’s constantly at the center of controversy, and they’re tired of it. Many think her repeated issues are dragging down RC’s reputation.

They’re also frustrated with the way she communicates: the constant excuses, the deflecting, and the way she avoids addressing her legal troubles directly.

But the biggest reason the RU fandom is losing patience is her cycle of long breaks. She repeatedly promises to return soon, only for those promises to fall through. Fans feel she shouldn’t commit to anything she can’t follow through on.

So if anyone thinks that the RU fandom has opened its eyes about Remy's problematic depiction of Indian culture...please don't hope that much 😭😭😭 A lot of them are literally fine with her toxic, inaccurate takes

Wishing for RC to do stories like "The Heist:Monaco" or "Most Wanted", but we know damn well they wont bc they're 100% locked in for HS3.

I know this sounds kind of harsh, but I’ve honestly been hoping that AWH, SHS, and other visual novel apps get more popular just so RC finally has some real competition. When there’s more competition, there’s usually more creativity, and I feel like RC could really use that push

I know this might initially sound superficial, much like how people initially dismissed the thesis of linking body odour to racism, but my thesis tackles a serious and overlooked issue: the double standard in emotional expression. Specifically, how it's socially acceptable for men to be cold or nonchalant, whilst women are penalised or dismissed if they don’t smile or appear warm.

This thesis has been a fight from the beginning. I’ve had to push through a lot to defend it. You’d think that in progressive Northern Europe, misogyny would be less pervasive, but it’s very much alive here. And being an immigrant has added another layer of difficulty, especially when it comes to accessing sources and gaining institutional support

Malek x Mikael. their tiktok vids get over 300k likes. on tg alone, just post a fanart/ edit of them and you'll get thousands of likes. dare i say their ship is louder than audrey x mikael/ audrey x malek? i think it's because many players find mikael's route too slow? note how i said "loud" and didn't say more popular. im too lazy to investigate. i just know it's a very popular mlm ship

ik i might get pelted for this, but the rc fans on main sub, have no idea what "dark" story means. PSI is dark, while HSR is edgy. PSI uses it dark themes to bring up a conversation & to tell deeper message. It has depth & maturity. It's thought-provoking. Meanwhile, HSR realies more on the shock value & gore to make it seem "dark", but it lacks substance. If you ask me what's the overarching theme of PSI, I'd probably answer to smth like "equality for all" , "truth matters", or even "toppling a corrupt government". But, I can't say shit when it comes to HSR. What's the point of the book, aside from being a HS spin-off? Thoughts??

Yeah, I get what you're saying. There’s a real difference between something that’s just dark for the sake of being edgy, and something that’s actually using its darker themes to say something.

PSI actually says something and HSR is well, dark, and the world sucks? Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed HSR (except for how Sasha treated Anna and Greg, but thats another topic) but it's something I read without taking it seriously. Kinda like how I enjoyed Doomsday (2008 movie if you wanna watch it too). It's stupid but stupid fun

Because if I actually think about it, I know I won't have fun with it. When I try to step back and ask what is this story actually trying to say? i can't come up with an answer. Maybe we'll see in HS3 but eh, that still means HS3 is kinda empty because how can its message not stand on its own?

That said, I do think HSR has its own strengths. It takes the characters and puts them in tough situations, which can be compelling, especially when we didn't know if Lane would die again and come back as an immortal. I just wish it had a stronger foundation, like PSI.

Damn Elena K. is lowkey insensitive too when it comes to poc characters? Cassiel & Felonia are my fave HSU LIs, but she cant handle Furius arc well??

To be fair, out of the three authors, she’s practically a saint 😭 But yeah, that Furius scene came completely out of nowhere. I honestly thought she was going to subvert his character. Like, I figured she named him “Furius” ironically, and he’d end up being the calm, level-headed one. And for a while, it really felt like that’s where she was going… until that scene.

I have no idea what possessed her to do that.

What is the current Russian reaction to HS3? It seems to me that some are exhausted by HSU, I can't blame them for that.

It's kind of a mixed bag. Most people aren’t super upset or anything, but a lot of them are let down that HSR and ABH basically ended the same way. It feels like a wasted chance, like why the two books couldn’t really stand on their own without HS3 to carry the weight? And yeah, some readers aren’t loving how HS3 feels a lot like HS2 again, especially with how cold the love interests are towards Lane, even if you're on the God's Voice and Compassion routes.

In the Russian fandom, The HSU is far more loved than in the non-Russian fandom. And this is just me guessing, but I think that's also the reason why HSU isn't as diverse as the other RC books. Russia is their biggest market and Heaven's Secret is the biggest story there so....
