Some non-RC stories that have me hooked
I needed a place to gush about all the other VN stories I’ve been playing through. (The whole reason why I started this blog for RC.) I just need to get this out of my system. Feel free to skip if you’re an RC only player.
Another World’s History
My Name Is Hope: Actual zombies. Gangs. Evil warlords. Scavenging raids. Some parts are really interactive where you actually have to shoot a target. Decisions cost lives. But the world isn’t completely grim and depressing. There’s a garden. A shopping mall with a nail salon. Small moments of normalcy. The only thing I don’t like are the flashback scenes from before the zombie apocalypse. Back when the MC and LIs were teenagers. I must be old because that high school drama just annoys me. Go back to the zombies. That’s the really good part. Oh. There’s also an Adam Driver lookalike. Definitely a plus!
Legacy of Witches: Definitely a rip-off of Charmed! The house, furniture, San Francisco, the 3 sisters with matching names. But I loved Charmed. I have 2 sisters, and we used to watch it together all the time. So I’m really enjoying this. It’s like inserting yourself into a show you love.
The LIs that stick out to me the most: Dominic and Scott Byron. Dominic looks like Raphael, Mikael, and Walter all rolled into one. He’s obviously the Leo character. Then Scott Byron, who is just a rich, domineering, handsome, dark skinned black man who isn’t gray.
I think the contrast here is obvious, but I kinda like that there’s a black male LI who isn’t a nice guy simply because he’s black. Also, he isn’t intimidating because he’s black. He’s intimidating because he’s powerful and charming. He just happens to be a good looking black man.
Lagerta
When Dragons Wake: If I had to compare this to a RC story, it’d be like Legends of the Willow with a bit of Soulless. Instead of kitsune and yokai (so far), there are ancient dragons taking on human forms in modern day Japan. It has that fish out of water element mixed with Japanese culture.
I’ve been craving a modern day Japan story, so this is really scratching that itch for me. Not everything is totally accurate. You can still see the white lens, but it does a decent job portraying the culture and lifestyle. The outfits could be better, but I haven’t found anything offensive so far.
The best part for me is how beautiful all the LIs are. RC should take note. THIS is how you do attractive East Asian men! They look like actual people, not anime characters!
🤤🫠 So much better than Castiel and Minhyuk! Yukio, the guy with the bun, is very Masamune-like, but doesn’t look like he’s made out of plastic.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a female LI. Yet? There is one really cute female character that I think could turn into a LI, but I’m not too sure. There is also a token white male LI who kinda looks like a blond Jacob Elordi.
Seven Hearts Stories
The Dragon Saga: Ragnarok: I didn’t get far with Path of the Valkyrie because I just couldn’t get into it. It’s always been on my list to finish one day, but now I might not have to. I’m only a few episodes into TDSR and I’m already hooked. So far, it’s kind of like Mulan but with Vikings.
Illusion of Fame: This starts out feeling like a story from Episodes or Chapters, but it gets a lot more gripping as it goes. I don’t have much to say about this other than it’s pretty spicy and I can’t get enough of it. There are only 2 seasons, but SHS is so stingy with their 💎! I’m really tempted to get their subscription.
Morvaine: In the same universe as Illusion of Fame. This one just started but it’s already so good! Dark, gritty, creepy, with bits of dark humor. I find Isaac hilarious! Reminds me of Martin Starr in terms of comedy, looks wise more like Ezra Miller. But I will prob romance Kaiden.
