Rory McIlroy Is The 2011 U.S. Open Champion

Watching Rory McIlroy play golf for 4 days at the Congressional Golf Club several aspects of the game of golf and the human spirit jumped out at me.

The first thing that jumped out at me was the child like spirit in which he plays the game of golf. Secondly it is only a game which is played with a little white ball, a stick and a hole nothing terribly exciting. Thirdly if you ever have a child and you want to raise a child to play sports at the highest level allow them the space to develop. Instill in them the buoyant feeling of real confidence. Give them the knowledge of discipline, structure, work and make all of it fun and worthwhile for them. Being serious and over analytical will lead to limited growth and unfulfilled potential. Humility is the foundation to confidence and insecurity is the foundation to arrogance. Acknowledging all that is going on around you whether it is good or bad and all that is going on within you and channeling that energy in a proper manner will cultivate over time a Champion human being which may lead to a U.S. Open Champion.

By the way Happy Fathers Day. It was wonderful to see the love and respect Rory has for his father and the love and respect Rory's father has for his son. No success in Life will ever compensate for failure within the home. Often the recipe for producing an outstanding individual lies in the nurturing and development of that individual within the dynamics of the home, whatever and wherever our particular home situation may be.

Champions League Final 2011 Barcelona v Manchester United

Congratulations Lionel Messi and Barcelona for defeating Manchester United in the Champions League Cup Final of Europe winning 3 to 1. The remarkable 23 year old Argentinean super star has scored an amazing 53 goals this season for his club which is a truly remarkable feat. A confident and humble player who makes scoring goals look easy against some of the worlds greatest foot balling (soccer) defenses. 

Condolences to Manchester United and to Alex Ferguson for another great season and a hard fought battle which provided a loss at the hands of one of the greatest club football teams in the history of European football.

A GOLF POEM TO PONDER

Golf Poem.

In My Hand I Hold A Ball, White And Dimpled, And Rather Small. Oh How Bland It Does Appear, This Harmless Looking Little Sphere. By Its Size I Could Not Guess, Of The Awesome Strength It Does Possess. But Since I Fell Beneath Its Spell, I've Wandered Through The Fires Of Hell. My Life Has Not Been Quite The Same, Since I Chose To Play This Stupid Game. It Rules My Mind For Hours On End, A Fortune It Has Made Me Spend. It Has Made Me Curse And Made Me Cry, And Hate Myself And Want To Die. It Promises Me A Thing Called Par, If I Hit It Straight And Far. To Master Such A Tiny Ball, Should Not Be Very Hard At All. But My Desires The Ball Refuses, And Does Exactly As It Chooses. It Hooks And Slices, Dribbles And Dies, And Disappears Before My Eyes. Often It Will Have A Whim, To Hit A Tree Or Take A Swim. With Miles Of Grass On Which To Land, It Finds A Tiny Patch Of Sand. Then Has Me Offering Up My Soul, If Only It Would Find The Hole. It's Made Me Whimper Like A Pup, And Swear That I Will Give It Up. And Take To Drink To Ease My Sorrow, But The Ball Knows ... I'll Be Back Tomorrow.

Stand proud you noble swingers of club and losers of balls

A recent study found the average golfer walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study found golfers drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.

That means, on average, golfers get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud. Almost makes you feel like a hybrid.

Tiger Woods Withdraws From The Players Championship

The Great Tiger Woods has withdrawn from The Tournament Players Championship after 6 holes because of the injuries he has to his medial collateral ligament and his Achilles tendon which are closely related to one another in regards to the pulling, stretching, compressing and twisting impact of the golf swing. Tiger has had 4 knee surgeries and his golf swing under the direction and guidance of Butch Harmon put a tremendous strain on his knee because of the violent, almost hyper extensive impact into his left knee which occurs on thousands of golf swings over many years of repetition.

I guess we can say Tiger Woods knee injuries have literally become his Achilles heel.

A Fun, Entertaining, Informative Golf & Life Video.

I just want to take this time to thank SocialNetGate http://www.socialnetgate.com for establishing a one stop location for me or for anybody for that matter to establish a Presence where we can Publish; text, photos, video and voice communication while monitoring our results in a fun, easy and secure environment. This service and platform will allow me to develop a Golf Instructional Video which will be accessible to all of people locally and to all of you located in many different parts of the world.  This technology was indeed impossible just a couple of years ago but now it gives all of us as individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, organizations a fantastic arena to communicate with those who we wish to communicate with and in ways unimaginable several years ago.

The essence of the Golf Video will be to teach, learn, discuss and inspire people in the game of golf, business relationships, life pursuits and will hopefully help people wherever you may be, achieve whatever you will achieve.

My idea of technology just a few years ago was a balata golf ball, hickory shafted forged clubs, leather golf bag, chalk, blackboard, typewriter, white-out, a blue or black ink ribbon, 33 and 45 inch crackling records playing "Remember The Good Old Days." Things are changing or should I say evolving rapidly and we are very fortunate to live in this day and age with all of its dynamics and possibilities quite literally at our finger tips.
