I'm Cyan (or anything you wanna call me) this blog started as just a stash for Dungeon Meshi extras and worldbuilding details but expanded as people asked questions and I did my best to answer! Hope you find it as useful as I do. I try my best to categorize my posts so they're easy to find but sometimes I forget.

Do elves in dungeon meshi take pride in their ears? I heard it's a marking of some kind for criminals due to dark magic use. I was thinking of making an OC who, like- makes their ears more human-like for aesthetic purposes (or if there's a deeper meaning, then I'll add it to their lore lol)

Yes they take pride on their ears and "pointy" ears are considered especially desirable
"Some elves consider you more beautiful if your ear tips are sharper"
The canary prisoners only get a notch on their ears to indicate they are criminals, Mithrun's lost half his ears because they got eaten and not because it was cut off by other elves
I think if your character specifically wants their ears to look like tallman ears that would mean something about their identity as an elf. Elves in Dungeon Meshi seem to think they're very "above" shorter lived races, and they live longer than any other race so they probably think they're the most "mature" race of all I imagine (Since a lot of the prejudice they have against short lived races is the fact they're younger) so your elf would probably either not care about that or be actively against that sense of superiority, the reason can be anything to be honest, but if they live among other elves I imagine they get judged often and other elves would probably think less of them (especially if they find out they specifically wanted to look like a tallman) so you should probably take that into consideration.
Does anyone else feel like they portrayal Kabru "cooler" in the anime than he is in the manga?
There's so many tiny differences that I feel like add up to a lack of the complex characterization he has in the manga. Small stuff like his facial expressions in certain scenes that to me reveal who he actually is behind his façade.
One of the ones that bothered me the most was this as he realizes Laios' true nature of a monster lover
In the anime he feels analytical/ thoughtful during this part but in the manga he's clearly more thrown off/disappointed with the realization.
And worst of all from the episode when he says bye to Laios
This is what we see of him as he says goodbye, his side profile from not too close and his EAR
And then he says "don't forget it next time" while posing and leaving as if it's an afterthought and not the main point he was making
This is how this interaction goes in the manga
His expression as he thinks about asking
His expression as he asks him to remember
He makes sure of it before even moving onto the exit. "Don't forget it next time, okay?" It's important for him and to me all these small expressions are important to realize that, it isnt some cool exiting phrase he just says, I thought thats what it felt like in the anime 🤔
And now on today's episode
Isn't this framed as Shuro seeing him as someone sinister? While in the manga this is framed as something lame edit: unhinged about him not something mysterious (Kabru looking at him moving away from Kabru vs Kabru moving away showing his back to shuro)
I might be thinking way too much into this but all these little details add up to me and make me feel sad that part of the complexity I love about Kabru is being lost. I was wondering if anyone else that read the manga felt similarly.
Excuse me would you by chance have more panels with the "sale and research of ancient magic items" Canary from Flamela's squad?
Hey, I only answer compilation requests when I have time, and looking for background characters is pretty time consuming.
I don't have random panels saved on my pc, I just have the manga downloaded so I have to manually look for panels when people ask for them. To make your search easier you can look for them in ch66 (when Flamela first appears) and then after 77 but more likely after 79, it's easier to look by downloading the chapters (from here) since then you can see all the pages at a glance, good luck

I wanted to ask, since we have Shuro being very clearly Japanese and Marcille Italian, do you have any thoughts of what the other character's nationalities might be in a modern setting? I've heard people say Kabru might be Nepalese as he is named after the mountain, but I'm really at a loss when it comes to Senshi, Chilchuck and the Toudens.

To answer Anon's question, based on my research I believe the cultural coding of the characters is:
Northern and Eastern Continents: Mix of Germanic (dwarves) and Slavic (gnomes) as the dominant cultures, with historic influence from the West (elves), and recent immigration from the Eastern Archipelago (the far East)
Toudens: Saterland Frisian (North Sea Germanic) and Scandinavian.
Chilchuck and the half-foots: A mix of Irish and Jewish (European diaspora) as well as the dominant Germanic and Slavic cultures that surround them.
Senshi: This one is more complicated, since the dwarves are strongly coded as Germanic, but Senshi and Namari have names that are the phonetic spelling of Japanese words, as if they weren't Japanese. This is primarily a joke, and probably not meant to be taken very seriously - but it's also logically consistent with Kui's worldbuilding, as the dwarves are very close neighbors to the Japanese region on the Dungeon Meshi world map, so it would make sense that the dwarves have absorbed some Japanese culture (words, foods) into their own. So Senshi's cultural coding appears to be Germanic, with a bit of Japanese mixed in.
Anonymous didn't ask for the rest of the cast, but I'll give the short version here, for anyone that's interested:
Elves: Ancient Greco-Roman, West Asian, and South Asian, possibly a touch of the Americas and North Africa
Marcille: Italian and French
Izutsumi: She was raised in "Japan" (Wa island) by the local people, but is implied to have come from a neighboring large island with a Central or North Asian culture.
Kabru: Nepal, North India, Eastern West Asia
Rin: East Asian with a West Asian/North African influence
The Golden Kingdom: Germanic (Frankish)
Ogres: Central and North Asia/Eastern Eurasia
Orcs: They have bits of all the other cultures in theirs. Some of the names may come from several different aboriginal groups.
Kobolds: Based on clothing and geography, North Africa, West Asia, South Asia. Kuro's real name and nickname are both Japanese, but like Senshi and Namari, these are jokes and probably not meant to be taken seriously.
Please keep in mind that this is of course only my opinion, but it's based on quite a bit of research and fact-checking. Hope this is helpful to someone!

Yes I remember the monster coloring book pages... I dont know who's the artist though, it's probably someone at trigger but from what I can tell the exact artist isn't listed in the page or anywhere I could find.
At first I thought the coloring pages were done by Kui but now looking closer I'm not sure
Can't tell... well actually, looking at the mermaid it's probably not Kui?
Checking the memorial book for similar styles (since there the artists are credited) there's these page by Shimada Sayaka (嶋田清香) and Kataoka Chiharu (片岡 千春)
