Alt Doctor saying "Goddamn it!" because he sacrificed River to give Melody a normal life but now he sees it was in vain bc Melody is still remembering being River.

"You hide a reason for shame" - The Doctor hiding the fact he knows how River dies

"You know that we are the same" - Alt!11 knows theres a part of main!11 that's tempted to change River's past as an attempt to give her a better life.

"Leaving them feeling betrayed. Breaking the bonds that you've made." - Alt!11 taunting the Doctor for failing and losing the Ponds.

"There is no price we won't pay." - Alt!11 paying the price of losing his River in order to give the Ponds a good life.

Also, character design: Alt!11 has sharper and messier hair while main!11 has neater hair, symbolizing how despite the fact alt!11 thinks he made things better, his life will become a mess in time.

I am not a casual River enjoyer, I literally know so much lore about her, I literally read the 2012 Doctor Who books that give lore insight about Mels. I read some of Mels' diary entries and the one self-insert x Doctor she made. I also know she sprained her ankle and became champion of Leadworth Sports' Day. Mels also had a job on earth for 3 years as a management consultant.

Also, River literally came back to life. The Death and Life of River Song: Last Words proved it was possible but the Doctor hasn't done it bc plot. Worse, they put her back in the datacore by the end.

Also-also: In the Day of the Doctor novelization, it was River who gave 10 intel on the zygons. They were good friends by that time. 10 also debated whether he should avoid River because he thinks there's a chance he can save her and stop her from going to the Library if he stayed away.

Also, River has clone-siblings who I'm pretty sure have no idea she's dead.

Mels is underated. I mean come on, a secret incarnation of River Song who grew up as her parents' childhood best friend? So much potential wasted on one episode. She deserved more.

"How can a human(Timelord) lose their self-control?" - The Doctor became Time Lord Victorious in the fic.

"Is it because I can't be her?" - River feeling self-doubt + the Doctor blaming her for not staying as Melody and living a human life.

"I can't fix you" - River can't fix the Doctor and the Doctor can't 'fix' the timeline so Melody have a normal life

This fic has got me on a chokehold 😭

A detail that would probably go unnoticed, I recoloured the Doctor's jacket to be darker for the clips with Mels and River to show his growing darkness.

Lowkey wanted to make it longer and add the Doctor finding out the Ponds died but the music wasn't long enough
