Now that I've stopped to think about it...
Do you think X really cares about humanity? Do you think he truly cares about humans, even though we rarely see him interacting with them (besides Dr. Cain) in the games? Does he at least consider whether humans also bear some responsibility, considering how they feel about robotics and the ability to develop self-awareness? Instead of simply focusing only on the mistakes the mavericks make?
Do you think, the father of all reploids, the android who was made to be more human than any other robot that has ever existed, believes in this justice because he was programmed to act this way or because he decided to fight for it? How can a robot created with free will be bound by this duty to protect something that we don't even know if it truly cares about? Is it even free will at all?
i like to think it's a mix of both maybe ? it was the intended purpose, but i think at any time he had the ability to just. stop, if that makes sense?
it could be argued his programming is no different than a kid inheriting their parents morals and values, in the way that it's not something he came up with himself, but works as a basis for who he later becomes as a person, and he has the ability to go against it for whatever reason. i assume that is why he was put through those 30 years of testing. i guess copy x could be a clearer example of what would happen if he didn't have this?
either way wether it was his choice or not the fact that he was given the ability to fight from the start does imply dr light intended him to be good in some way, i doubt he'd just create something that dangerous and give it 100% self autonomy knowing what consequences it could have.. idk
i'm a big big human x truther i love thinking of him being as close to a human as an android can get but it's certainly interesting to think about. like to what extent is his personality his or fabricated.
I also wonder, if it were a programmed thing though, would that discredit his ability to make his own choices? in the way that, since it's artificial, it's worth less - kind of thing. when talking about robot's sentience. what if that could be a rethoric used to oppress reploids as well... it's very interesting to think about..

I sincerely hope that social media isn’t introduced as a thing into any new Megaman stuff because it never works in anything BUT I will make an exception if they have Axl make Zero an official account and then not tell him about it whilst posting his train of thought on there for months until Zero finds out because one of their other friends asks him if he’s doing okay mentally
Semi related but I think every in universe post about X would just be a picture of him looking absolutely dead inside whilst every post about Zero is like a video of him stopping mid sentence in an interview to do a flip and then going back to talking like nothing happened with captions asking why he did that
