Hi, I'm parcark. This is my sideblog for all of my sparsely-posted art (and occasionally general Disco Elysium posts).

I've been hyperfixated on the world of Disco Elysium for two and a half years now (as of editing), so if you're here from another fandom, please don't expect me to post for that fandom regularly!

I am a Recent adult and ace so don't be a weirdo please.

All of my art is under #parcark art tag.

Fandom art will be tagged with their fandom tags.

I will put content warnings for sensitive topics etc. in the tags. If you'd like me to tag something then let me know.

Posts that aren't art will be tagged with #not par art.

ok I guess I have to explain. the problem is that the video lends credence to theories like "harry is the next innocence" and "magpies are real" despite the fact they can easily be disproven just by reading Sacred and Terrible Air once and also muck up, like... a whole range of themes in the setting and purposeful choices for the worldbuilding.

he very easily could have explained why they are not canon but instead he chose to say they are "too convenient to throw away". and now b/c of it there are quite a few people talking about these things again despite how long some people in the fandom have been retracing the same topics over and over explaining why it isn't real, but now the people spreading it are parroting the "too convenient" thing in response as well.

in short anti-harry-innocencers and anti-magpiers have been set back quite a bit bc of it and it's exhausting basically lol

@flaxygostaa Magpies are real in Elysium and I believe what you are talking about w the mindless automaton thing is the book illustrating what a “protein mass” is, which we hear about in the game as what happens to a mind that is overexposed to and basically destroyed by the Pale, so the fact it happens to animals too means they do have minds. You don’t meet a lot of animals in the game but you do have a long conversation with the phasmid which might just be your overactive imagination but the insect is assumed to have a simple, not sapient, but definitely sentient mind. So idk what you are thinking of exactly.

Makes sense. I see @ revacholianpizzaagenda mentioning a quote with animals-magpies in op reblogs. I do believe the phasmid dialog is not imaginary, and if other cryptids like my fav teraton exist, they are definitely sentient. Perhaps my initial impression of the book overpainted everything, don't really remember if it was mentioned that the mountain goats are affected by pale or the reader should have realized this on spot (which I didn't). Also, isn't it the only mention of animals in the book?

I was also referring to a quote that I belive should convey that animals populating elysium or some part of it are just cows, smth, smth, birches and pinetrees. Couldn't find it in fayde nor any claim that proves it, might as well be a mind glitch

Prev I'm so sorry to inform you, but if your version mentioned mountain goats, you read the wrong translation of the book. Those should be ibexes!

#it's not a huge difference but that translation has whooole lot wrong with it #including: plagiarising from several sources and posing some guy on reddit's headcanon's for what elysium places are equivalent to--#--which IRL countries as fact when a lot of it doesn't even actually line up to what we know. for literally no reason #and odd translation choices that at best completely alter interpretations of the book and sometimes even insert new characters randomly #make sure you get the most recent Group Ibex translation for your next reread! it's generally considered the most faithful #rbs #disco elysium

i really like thinking about the skills as a rpg system (Metric), i feel in my heart that everyone has skills and there are skills everyone has, like Logic, Perception and Volition are "universal" concepts. but there should still be space for idiosyncrasies, not everyone would have esprit, or shivers, or conceptualization.

I'd like to some day write up a metric recreation as a trrpg system, not trying to make it be good or well done but just as an interesting compilation of concepts.

#I wonder every day about those skills Harry could have learned in No Truce #like Behaviourism and whatnot if I remember right? I can't find the doc right now to check #they would have added soo much writing time to account for reactivity with them. no wonder they were taken out for DE #but also! I wonder if that concept is connected to the idea of people having individualised skillsets too #the thought that the 16 mentioned in the tables are the 'base' ones and the ones that arent mentioned could have been the switchable ones--#--is something I never considered before... that's an extremely cool concept #disco elysium #no truce with the furies #my thought was always that people's skills generally covered the same bases #like even if other people don't have EDC they have some kind of a group-inclusion skill #hell. it could still be called EDC. that phrase isn't cop-specific. but the description would change to reflect their membership to--#--a different group #(not that I think the name WOULD stay the same. just that maybe people would have the same types of skills in the same areas I guess?)#(that's my general philosophy when I make custom skillsets at least)#I'd love to see a recreation of Metric some day that explores how all this could have worked
